Setting The Controls
Temp=AssureTM themlostafi¢ control
This control, located on center divider between
freezer and refrigerator sections, operates
independently of freezer control. A hidden
thermostatic sensor measures refrigerator air
temperature constantly, and automatically lets in
more cold air if temperature rises as little as 1½°F
(.8 ° C) from setting.
Refrigerator and freezer controls
a. Locate refrigerator and freezer controls at inside
center divider between freezer and refrigerator
sections. See Figure 1.

b. When freezer control is set to "OFF", neither
refrigerator or freezer sections will coo!.
c. Start by setting both controls to "4". After 24
hours, adjust as desired.
"1" is warmest setting.
"7" is coldest.
d. If you want to set temperatures more precisely,
use a household thermometer that includes
temperatures between -5 ° to + 50°F (-20.5 ° to
+ 10°C). These can normally be purchased at a
hardware store.
e. In freezer section, put thermometer snugly
between frozen food packages. See Figure 2.

f. Wait 5-8 hours. If temperature is not 0° to 2°F.
(-18 ° to -17°C), adjust control, one number at a
time. Check again after 5.8 hours°

Walt 5-8 hours. If temperature is not 38 ° to 40°F
(+3 ° to +4°C), adjust the control, one number at a

Exterior Cabinet Moisture Control
During hot, humid weather; any refrigerator will
form moisture around doors, similar to condensation
that forms on a glass of ice water. Special heaters in
the refrigerator cabinet help minimize condensation.
a. If refrigerator is in a warm, humid area, set
control to "ON" position.
b. If refrigerator is]n a cooler, less humid area, set
control to "OFF" position.
c. As weather conditions change, this setting may
need to be adjusted. At any time moisture forms
on refrigerator cabinet, move control to the "ON"
position. See Figure 4.

Refrigerator
Adjustable cantileversheUves
Shelves can be adjusted to best match size of items
stored in refrigerator. These shelves are supported
by metal tracks in back of the refrigerator.
a. To remove "cantilever" shelves, tap upward at back
of shelf, near the met_ track. See Figure 6. TbJs
will loosen shelf hooks. L_ shelf and pull out.

b. To in,stall, tilt shelf so that front is higher than back.
c. Insert metal hooks at back of shelf into desired
slot in metal track on back wall of refrigerator.
See Figure 7.

Apply pressure to front edge of shelf to insure
proper installation.

Deli Fresh Chiller control
The Dell Fresh Chiller features a drawer inside an
outer sleeve. A control, located on front t_, allows
you to adjust amount of freezer air circulating
between Deli Fresh Chiller and sleeve to keep meat,
fish or poultry fresh without drying it out.
a. Slide control to left for coldest temperatures (ice
crystals may form) and to right for warmer
temperatures. See Figure 8.

b. Additional cola air can affect refrigerator
compartment so Temp-Assure TM control may need_
to be adjusted once the Dell Fresh Chiller control
is set. See page 4. 6
Tomove Deli Fresh Chiller
a. Remove Deli Fresh Chiller drawer.
b. Tap upward on back of shelf, near metal track.
This will loosen shelf hooks.
c. Lift shelf and Dell Fresh Cheer sleeve and pull out.
d. To reinsert, lift the shelf and sleeve so front is
higher than back.
e. Insert metal hooks at back of shelf into desired
slot in metal track on back wall of refrigerator.
(Any of top three slots will work.)
f. Gently lower shelf front. Tap downward near
track until shelf hooks are securely seated and
shelf is level.
g. Reinsert Deli Fresh Chiller drawer.
If you choose to move Deli Fresh Chiller to opposite
side of refrigerator, be sure to move reversible Deli
Fresh Chiller control (located on center back wall of
refrigerator section) to match the same side as you
placed the Dell Fresh Chiller. See Figure 9.

This rack can be hung from edge of any shelf, to hold
a large bottle, eggs, cheese, etc., within easy reach.
a. Locate utility rack shipped inside crisper drawer.
b. Locate tabs on fiat edge of utility rack. Hook
these tabs over metal_frame on side of any shelf.
Shelf may need to be moved, depending on
location.
c. If bottle is used, be sure bottle cap is on tightly
before placing bottle in rack. See Figure 5.
Crisper drawers
Crisper drawers are used to store fresh fruits and
vegetables. It is normal for some moisture to
accumulate inside drawers. Some models have
humidity controls on one or both drawers.
a. Slide control to high humidity setting for leafy
vegetables such as lettuce, spinach or cabbage.
See Figure 10.

b. Slide control to low humidity setting for produce
with skins, such as apples, oranges or tomatoes.

Egg storage
a. All models have a t_e-to-the-co_ter egg bucket
w_th a removable tray. See Figure 1L

b. Egg storage area w_ also accept standard egg
cartons when tray is removed. To clean tray, hand
wash in warm, soapy water.
Adjustable dairy and s ond serving
shemfsystem
This system comes complete with dairy storage
module with lift up door, second serving shelf, and
two second serving dishwasher and microwave safe
containers. Entire system fits in uppermost groove
position on refrigerator door and can be placed on
either right or left side of center divider on door.
a. To remove dairy and second serving areas, first
remove all food.
b. Lift up dairy door.
c. Push lock tabs in dairy compartment toward
center with thumbs and forefingers, See
Figure 12.
d. While holding in lock tabs, pull dairy and second
serving shelf system straight out. See Figure 12.
Second erving
Second serving shelf holds two leftover containers.
Shelf attaches to d_y module and is easily
removed. For added storage, additional seeend
serving shelves may be purchased (at extra cost).
They attach to first shelf.
a. To remove second serving shelf first remove food
from dairy module and second serving shelf,
b. Remove entire dairy and second serving system
from refrigerator door. See instructions on tl_s
page.
c. Grasp top of each side of second serving shelf.
d. Flex out slightly to release second serving shelf
tab from dairy module slot. See Figure 14.

e. Gently pull down. See Figure 15.

e. To install adjustable dairy and second serving
shelf system, slide system into top groove area
until tabs lock into place. See Figure 13.

f. To replace second serving shelf, grasp one side
of shelf.
g. Place tab at top of the second serving shelf into
slot underneath dairy module.
h. Press inward gently to secure.
i. Flex other side of shelf out slightly.
j. Slide tab of second serving shelf into slot
underneath the dairy module.

Allows you the convenience of tablespoon portions.

Snack compartment
Allows you to store small items and snacks at an
easy, convenient location.
a. To remove, open lid, place hand below center of
upper shelf, lift straight up. See Figure 17.
d. 2% install, slide bucket L_to grooved area until
tabs lock into place. See Figure 20,

Deep door shelves
Adjustable deep door buckets on refrigerator door
allow for easy storage of six-pack or gallon size
items. See Figure 21.

b. Removing the upper portion of this compartment
allows the flexibility of using the bottom portion
as an additional door bucket.

a. To remove door buckets, remove food from all
buckets.
b. Push lock tabs toward center with your thumbs
and forefingers. See Figure 18.

Allows you to place tall packages or containers in
door buckets or door shelves. Retainer keeps
packages securely in place.
a. To remove_ rotate away from you and lift up. See
Figure 24.

Allows you to place a liter bottle inside hugger and
prevents items from tipping over.
a. Position bottle hugger in any deep door bucket or
shelf. See Figure 25.

Freezer and refrigerator sections are completely
®
frost free. The Amana Frost-Magnet evaporator
coil in back wall stops frost before it starts. Under
normal operating conditions, youqt never have to
defrost refrigerator or freezer, because it's
automatic.

a. To release ice cubes, grasp both ends of tray.
b. Twist in opposite directions until ice pops out. See

Some models have an ice service rack. Ice service
rack has a drawer to store ice.
a. To move ice service rack to right of freezer, first
remove ice trays and drawer.
b. Slide rack about _/s" (9.5 ram) toward front of
freezer, until screws are in middle mounting holes.
c. Gently pull rack away from ceiling of freezer to
remove from screws.
d. Remove screws from ceiliag of freezer.
e. Using a fiat screwdriver covered with tape (to
keep from scratching ceiling), gently_ pry plastic
plugs from opposite side of cei_ng of freezer.
f. Replace plastic plugs with screws and vice versa.
g. Line up middle mounting holes in top of ice service
rack with screws on ceiling of freezer. Gently slide
ice service rack back about _/s" (9.5 ram).
h. Replace ice cube trays and drawer.

Some models have an automatic ieemaker already
installed. Other models have a connection in the
freezer back wall for installation of an optional
icemaker, available at extra cost from your Amana
dealer.
a. Top left cantilever shelf must be in slot marked
with a label when using an automatic icemaker.
Refer to label on interlor of freezer.
b. On refrigerators with full width shelves the shelf
must be in the bottom position.
e. Put the ice bin under t_e icemaker.
d. Lower wire "arm" on ice maker to start ice
production.
e. First batch of ice wi!l normally be produced
within 12 hours of installation.
f. Discard first several batches of ice, so that any
impurities in water line or icemaker will not be
consumed.
g. To stop ice production, raise "arm" of icemaker
until it locks in position.
h. No ice wil! be produced while icemaker "arm" is
in raised position.

Shelves can be adjusted to best match size of items

Some models have a freezer shelf divider to
separate frozen food on top of shelf.
a. To move divider to a different location, first press
down on divider and slide fo1_vard about I" to
unhook middle wire.
b. Move divider to new position, positioning ends of
the divider base under freezer shelf wires.
c. Press down on divider and slide backward, to
hook middle wire and stabilize divider.

There are two deep door buckets and one full-width
door shelf located on freezer door for convenient
storage.
a. Buckets and shelves can be removed for easy
cleaning. To remove, follow directions in steps a-c
on page 8.
Reversible freezer storage rack
(some models)
Reversible freezer storage rack may be placed on
top of or underneath freezer shelf to be used to
organize and separate frozen foods° See Figure 29. I0

ao To remove storage rack, first remove food from
rack.
b. Hold each end of rack and push rack to right to
release rack slot from wire shelf.
c. Pull down if located under freezer shelf. Lift up if
located above freezer shelf.
d. To replace storage rack, position rack on top of or
underneath freezer shelf between shelf wires°
e° Center slot of rack should be positioned on top of
or underneath center wire of freezer shelf°
f. Lock into place by pushing rack to left. Re sure
round kndbs are securely in place° See Figure 30.
g. Rack should not move lef% or right.

Door fronts of most refrigerators can be decorated
with panels to accent your kitchen decor. Tr_ kits
can be purchased separately from your Amana
dealer.
a. Basic V_d' trim kit attaches to door edges and can
accommodate V_" (1.6 ram) thick panels.
b. For panels that are _4" (_.4 ram) thick, an
additional trim kit is required. Ya" kit attaches to
panels and slides tongue-in-groove fashion into
_6" (1.6 ram) trim, which must be installed on
doors first.
c. Ask your Ax_ana dealer about panel availability
on special models or you may supply your own
panels.
