AMB8466-M-RP1
Version 1.6
1Overview
The user interface of the AMB8466-M-RP1 consists of 3 LEDs, one button as well as 2 rotary encoding
switches. The button can be reached through a small opening on the front panel with the help of a
suitable pointed object. The rotary encoding switches are found behind the bottom cover (removable)
close to the terminals for the power supply. They are used for setting the operating parameters.

2Connection
A power supply with a voltage of 12V –24V DC is connected to the correspondingly marked terminals as
a source of energy.
The bottom terminal cover must be removed to reach the terminals.
Pay attention to the polarity when connecting the power supply!
The connecting leads from the supply terminals must be removed to ensure that the device is
not under voltage.
After connecting the power supply, a LED self test is performed. In the process, all LEDs illuminate once
in the following order: Power Data Error. Afterwards, a device that has already been in operation
changes to normal operation (green Power LED switched on permanently).

3Start-Up
A device that is not configured responds by flashing the green Power LED after the power supply has
been connected and the LED self test is finished. The index for the wM Bus operating mode and the TX
Power can be found in table 1 or 2 (depends on the firmware version).

After the receiving and transmitting operating modes have been set correctly, the button behind the
front panel must be pressed briefly to accept the values. When both parameters are accepted, the green
LED will flash three more times. Afterwards, the Repeater performs a restart.
If a parameter is outside the valid range, then the red Error LED flashes 3 times. Then the device
performs a restart, and the Start-up state is entered again (flashing with the green Power LED and
waiting for configuration).
4Status message
The repeater itself will send a status frame each 15 minutes. This static frame was added according to
OMS Spec Vol2 Primary V301. The first status frame will be send one minute after each restart.
5Installation Mode
A pushbutton installation can be performed to register the repeater on a MUC (concentrator). To
achieve this, the button behind the front panel must be pressed briefly (< 5 seconds) after starting up
the device. Then the green and yellow LEDs flash alternately. The device now sends an installation
telegram every 30 seconds. If the repeater receives a Confirm (CNF_IR) to the SND_IR that it sends, then
it exits installation mode and changes back to normal operation with the help of a reset. The device
performs a restart after 20 telegrams (10 minutes) at the latest or after pressing the button behind the
front panel again.
If there is not enough distance between the devices, it may be necessary to unscrew one of the
antennas, otherwise it could result in overmodulation effects.
6Factory Reset
To do a factory reset the rotary encoder switches must be placed in the position of 0xFF. Then, the
button behind the front panel has to be pressed until all 3 LEDs start to flash at the same time.
As soon as the button is released, all settings are reset to the delivery state. After that the device
performs a reboot.
After this procedure, it is necessary to start-up the device again.

7Firmware Update
To perform a firmware update, the button behind the front panel must be pressed and hold during the
start-up phase (LED self test) until the green Power LED and the red Error LED flash at the same time.
After releasing the button, the green and red LED will start flashing alternately. As of that time, the
device tries to establish a connection to a respective remote station (AMB8465-M, PC and update
software).
Only AMB8466-M-RP1 with a serial number >= 250 can be updated to this firmware version
2.2.0. Devices from SN 373 on already have this or a newer firmware.
If there is not enough distance between the devices, it may be necessary to unscrew the
antenna, otherwise it could result in overmodulation effects.
If the device does not find a remote station, then it changes back to normal operation after approx. 10
seconds.
