Quick start guide
1. Prepare t e base station

Safety notes
Please read the safety notes and user manual before putting the repeater into operation.
If you give your repeater to another party, it must be accompanied by the user guide.
➭The ambient temperature must be between 5 °C and 40 °C
➭Use only the following supplied power supply:
MN-A002-A080 ; 7.5 V , 300mA from MEIC
➭Using other power supplies can be dangerous and cause malfunctions or
damage the repeater
➭This product requires an electrical supply of 100-240 volts AC
➭The mains power plug must always be easily accessible
➭To disconnect the device from mains, separate the plug from the wall socket first
➭Do not use your repeater in environments at risk from explosion (e.g. paintworks,
petrol stations etc.)
➭Do not position the repeater in bathrooms or showers
➭The radio signals may influence the working of medical equipment
➭Do not touch open contacts!
Introduction
The Swisscom DECT/Rousseau Repeater offers a range of up to 300 meters outdoor and of
up to 50 meters indoor and allows you to increase the coverage range and to improve
reception quality in remote areas for Rousseau and DECT products in any environment,
whether it be in your home or office. This repeater is perfectly tailored to operate with
Rousseau or DECT handsets supporting repeater.

mon phonebook access
• Handling of up to 2 calls at the same time

Easy registration
1. Prepare t e base station
• Make sure one handset is registered to the base station
• Switch Ecomode plus mode off (from the handset)
• Switch repeater mode on (from the handset)
• Set base to register mode (by holding down the « registration » or « page » key
for several seconds)
2. Take repeater in operation
• Position the repeater close to the base station
• Plug the main adapter
• The ED on the front of the repeater flashes slowly red (1.5 s/1.5 s)
The repeater enters automatically in association mode
• Wait until the white ED is ON
• The registration is completed
3. Place t e repeater at desired location
• If the red ED is flashing quickly, please choose a place with higher signal strength
Note:
In case the repeater registration is failing the repeater red ED will continue to flash
slowly. The easy registration steps should then be repeated.

Registration to anot er base
The Registration button can be used in order the repeater to loose its current registra-
tion. In case the repeater needs to be registered to another base, press the Registration
button to start the easy registration procedure, then follow the same steps than in the
easy registration.
Limitations
• Ecomode plus is not supported when using the repeater.
• Conversation encryption is not supported when using the repeater.
• Handset software updates are only possible on the base station.
• The repeater can not be registered to the Swisscom Internet-Box.
Placement
To get the best operation conditions for the repeater, it is important to place it correctly:
➭Choose a raised position with good base station reception.
➭To avoid mutual interference, do not position the repeater in the immediate vicinity of
electronic equipment such as hi-fi systems, office equipment or microwave ovens.
➭Avoid positioning the repeater near heat sources such as heating elements or near
obstacles such as metal doors, thick walls, niches and cupboards.
➭A distance of minimum 10 meters should be observed when installing two repeaters in
an over lapping reception range.
➭If the repeater is placed at a location where the handset is already having a poor con-
nection to the base, the system behavior will not be optimal.
To find the best possible location for the repeater, you have to try different locations.
Establish a call and walk around with the handset to determine the base stations cover-
age area. You can install the repeater at a location within the coverage area, where you
still have a good connection between the handset and the base station. In order to
achieve good repeater coverage, use case is to step back about half the range where the
handset is loosing the connection in order to place the repeater.
A new coverage area will now be available around the repeater.

Multiple repeaters
Up to 2 repeaters can be registered to the base station, in order to extend its range. This
allows to extend the base station range in multiple directions – including up and down
(eg. to cover several floors in a building).
If the repeaters are placed correctly (overlapping the coverage area of the base station, or
from another repeater), you can go from one area (cell) to the other while speaking on
the handset. The handset will automatically switch from cell to cell (handover), without
this being noticed during the telephone call.
The repeaters can be installed within the base stations coverage area as shown in the fol-
lowing sections, in a star configuration (in the range of the base), or in cascade configu-
ration (in serie).
Registration of Multiple repeaters
When registering multiple repeaters to one base station, each repeater should be regis-
tered one after the other taking care that the second repeater to be registered is in the
range of the first one.
To be on the safe side, it is required to power up the first repeater close to the base sta-
tion before registration of the new repeater. This is especially important when a adding a
new repeater at a later stage.
Multiple repeaters : setting up a star configuration
2 repeaters can be used in a star configuration (ie in the range of the base), allowing to
extend the range of the base station in all directions. In good conditions, range can be
doubled using star configuration.

To setup a proper star configuration:
• First place the base at the location where you are conducting most of the calls.
• Register all the repeaters and then switch them off.
• Then, going to the direction where you want to extend the range for, walk with
the handset until you reach the range limit. At this point step back for about half
the distance, this should be a good place where to locate the repeater. Connect
the repeater at the closest main plug, and check the repeater has a good connec-
tion (the ED is white).
• To place the second repeater it is better to unplug the previously setup repeater, in
order to ensure the best positioning for the next repeater.
• Once both repeaters have been placed individually, power them up. The ED
should be white on both repeaters.

Multiple repeaters : setting up a cascade configuration
Repeaters can also be used to extend the range in a specific direction using a 2 repeaters
cascade (one repeater in the range of the base, one second repeater in the range of the
first repeater). Using 2 repeaters allows to double the range.
To setup a proper cascade configuration:
• First place the base at the location where you are conducting most of the calls.
• Register the 2 repeaters used for the cascade and then switch them off.
• Then, going to the direction where you want to extend the range for, walk with
the handset until you reach the range limit from the base. At this point step back
for about half the distance, this should be a good place where to locate the first
repeater. Connect the first repeater at the closest main plug, the ED is white on
the repeater.
• Keeping the first repeater switched on, still going to the direction where you want
to extend the range for, walk with the handset until you reach the range limit from
the repeater. At this point step back for about half the distance, this should be a
good place where to locate the second repeater. Connect the second repeater at
the closest main plug, the ED is white on the repeater.
• During a call in cascade mode, the leds on both repeaters will blink white indicat-
ing a call is relayed.

Wall mounting
You can mount your repeater on the wall:
1. Turn the repeater so that the back faces you:
2. Drill two holes (distance between the holes = 75 mm) at the
preferred position on the wall.
3. Insert 2 dowels and 2 screws in the wall. Make sure the
screws protrude approx. 3 mm.
4. Fix the repeater to the wall.

Important information
Care
Only clean your device with a lightly dampened or antistatic cloth.
Do not use cleaning agents or chemical products.
Recycling (environmental protection)
At the end of the product's life cycle, the repeater must not be disposed of in
normal domestic waste. Please take it to a collection point for processing electri-
cal and electronic equipment: see symbol on the product, in the user manual
and/or packaging.
Some materials used in this product can be recycled if you take it to a recycling depot. By
recycling parts or raw materials from used products you will be making an important
contribution to environmental protection.
Approval and conformity
The repeater complies with the basic requirements contained in the R&TTE Guidelines
99/5/EC and is suitable for connection and operation in the member states indicated on
the packaging.

Warranty
Repairs are carried out in accordance with the “Warranty conditions of Swisscom
(Switzerland) td”.
In the event of defects occurring, the Customer may contact the sales outlet or the
appropriate Swisscom customer service. Any costs associated with bringing back and col-
lecting the device shall be borne by the Customer, even in the case of a warranty claim.
If, at the request of the Customer, defects and faults are remedied at his place of resi-
dence (not possible for all devices), Swisscom shall charge the Customer for the travel to
the work site, the use of vehicles and the duration of the work.
Restrictions
The warranty does not cover operating items and consumables such as batteries or data
carriers (e.g. operating instructions on CD or paper). Nor does it apply to defects which
can be attributed to the penetration of moisture or other outside influences (damage as a
result of being dropped, crushed or struck, incl. damage during transportation).
