water or any other liquid. This is an electrical appliance. To avoid the risk of
electrical shock or serious personal injury, always operate with dry hands.
2. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is being used by or near
children. This slow cooker is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of
experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning the use of the slow cooker by a person responsible for
their safety.

attachments not recommended by the manufacturer may cause damage to
the slow cooker or personal injuries.
6. Never touch the outer surface of the slow cooker during its operation or
before it cools. Use the handles. Use oven gloves or a cloth when removing
the lid or handling the ceramic pot. Tilt the lid away from you when removing
the lid to avoid scalding.

cleaning. Allow appliance to cool completely before immersing the ceramic
pot or lid in water. DO NOT immerse the slow cooker base in water or any
other liquid.

Safety instructions
WARNING: Read and understand all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions
listed below may result in electric shock, fire or serious personal injury. The
warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual cannot
cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood
by the operator that common sense and caution are a factor which cannot be
built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.
CAUTION: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of personal
injury resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Extension cords are available from local hardware stores and may be used if care
is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is required, special care and caution
is necessary. Also, the cord must be: (1) marked with an electrical rating of 125V,
and at least 13 A., 1625 W., and (2) the cord must be arranged so that it will not
drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or
tripped over accidentally.
Polarized plug
NOTE:
This slow cooker has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).
As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit
in a polarized outlet only one way.
If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug.
If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to
defeat this safety feature.
Electric power
If electric circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your appliances may not
operate properly. The appliances should be operated on a separate electrical
circuit from other operating appliances.

User instructions
Before first use
Please note that the slow cooker may produce an odor when switched on for the first
time, as residues from the production process are eliminated. This is normal and does not
indicate a defect or hazard. This faint smell will eventually go away after the first few uses.
Wipe clean all the parts with a soft damp cloth or sponge. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
DO NOT USE ANY ABRASIVE MATERIALS TO CLEAN THE SURFACE.
DO NOT IMMERSE THE SLOW COOKER BASE INTO WATER AT ANY TIME.
Assemble all the parts to the slow cooker.
How to use
1. Always set your slow cooker on a level and stable heat resistant surface.
2. Prepare your recipe according to the directions.
3. Assemble your ingredients in the ceramic pot and place the pot into the base.
Cover with the glass lid. If you need to pre-cook or brown foods prior to slow
cooking, this must be done in a pan on the stove, not in the slow cooker.
4. To begin cooking, plug the power cord into an outlet.
5. Select LOW (approx. 105-195°F) or HIGH (approx. 115-205°F) after referring to
specific recipe for precise cooking time. Refer to chart in helpful hints for
approximate temperature according to how many cooking hours.
6. When cooking is complete, the slow cooker will NOT switch to WARM
automatically. Turn slow cooker to OFF or WARM manually.
7. THIS UNIT BECOMES VERY HOT DURING USE AND EXTREME CAUTION SHOULD
BE USED DURING AND AFTER COOKING UNTIL THE UNIT HAS COOLED
COMPLETELY AFTER UNPLUGGING FROM THE OUTLET.
PLEASE NOTE: WARM setting is only used for keeping already cooked food warm
and is not intended for cooking. It is not recommended to use the warm setting
for more than 4 hours.
NEVER CARRY THE SLOW COOKER BY THE HANDLES WHEN THE CERAMIC POT IS
FULL OF HOT FOOD OR LIQUID. ALWAYS USE OVEN MITTS.

Helpful hints
10
Helpful hints
Authentic stoneware is fired at high temperatures therefore the ceramic pot
may have minor surface blemishes, the glass lid may rock slightly due to these
imperfections. Low heat cooking does not produce steam so there will be little
heat loss. Due to normal wear and tear through the product’s life, the outer
surface may start appearing to have fine cracks on the surface of the glaze.
Do not put the ceramic pot or glass lid in an oven, freezer, microwave, or in a
toaster oven.
Do not pre-heat before adding ingredients.
Do not subject the ceramic pot to sudden changes in temperature. Adding
cold water to a very hot ceramic pot could cause it to crack.
Do not allow the ceramic pot to stand in water for a long time as there is an
area on the base of the ceramic pot that has to remain unglazed for
manufacturing purposes. This unglazed area is porous, therefore will soak up
water. However, you can leave water in the ceramic pot to soak.
Do not switch the slow cooker on when the ceramic pot is empty or out of the
base.
The slow cooker must be at least half full for best result.
The lid is not a sealed fit. Don’t remove unnecessarily as the built-up heat will
escape. Each time you remove the lid, allow 10 minutes of extra cooking time.
If cooking soups or stews, leave a 2-inch space between the top of the ceramic
pot and the food surface to allow simmering.
Many recipes call for all day cooking. Ingredients can be prepared the night
before and stored in food containers in the refrigerator overnight. In the
morning transfer the ingredients to the ceramic pot, add warm liquid or gravy
and set the slow cooker for the desired temperature setting and time.
Most meat and vegetable recipes require 8-10 hours on LOW or 4-6 hours on
HIGH.
Do not use frozen meat or poultry unless it is thoroughly thawed out first.
Some ingredients are not suitable for slow cooking. Pasta, seafood, milk and
cream should be added towards the end of the cooking time. Many things can
affect how quickly a recipe will cook, such as water and fat content, initial
temperature of the food, and the size of the food.
Pieces of food cut into small pieces will cook quicker. A degree of ‘trial and
error’ will be required to fully optimize the potential of your Slow Cooker.

Helpful hints
11
After food is cooked, switch control knob to OFF and leave covered with the
lid. There will be enough heat in the ceramic pot to keep the food warm for
approximately 30 minutes. If you require longer time to keep the food warm
switch to the WARM setting.
All food should be cooked with a liquid, gravy or sauce. In a separate pan
prepare your liquid, gravy or sauce and add to the food in the ceramic pot.
Pre-brown meat and onions in a pan to seal in the juices. This also reduces the
fat content if separated before adding to the ceramic pot. This is not
necessary if the time is limited, but it does improve the flavor.
We recommend that you do not store foods in the ceramic pot in the
refrigerator, however, if you do store food in the ceramic pot do not put it
into the slow cooker base for a minimum of 45 minutes to allow it to warm up
slightly. Make sure it is completely dry before placing it in the slow cooker
base.
Never use the ceramic pot on top of the stove. It is meant for use in the slow
cooker only.

inside of the ceramic pot in warm soapy water. Do NOT soak the whole
ceramic pot in water.
