Electrical Auto Retract
The System Overview is shown on installation drawing sheet 1.
The NIR Borescope Auto-Retract (AR) installation can be broken down into the following
steps (gure 3-1):
A. Fabrication of a front support frame (height adjustable recommended) to x the
AR front bracket (see Installation drawing sheet 1).
B. Installing the AR system main assembly to AR front bracket.
C. Attaching the port seal assembly to the main assembly.
D. Fabricating and installing rear support frame to x the rear AR bracket.
E. Clamping the NIR-b and water-jacket to AR System and attaching port seal
sundries.
F. Connecting the water and purge air (both supplies, see installation drawing sheets
5 & 6).
G. Installation of heat shielding.
Followed by:
• Installation of the ECU & its electrical connections to the NIR Camera & customer
facilities.
• Installation of the IMAGEPro Software.
• Operating the System.

This section covers installation of the ECU & its electrical connections to the NIR
Camera & customer facilities
Cable requirements are shown on installation drawing Sheet 4.
Connection details are shown on installation drawing Sheet 7.
Mechanical Details are shown on Sheet 3.
7.1 Connecting Customer Mains to the ECU (Cable 1)
CAUTION
The ECU must be mounted in a location away from heat source, but must be in
a position where the operator of the ECU can see the NIR-B Auto-Retract.
Requirements
• The battery is located in a separate vented enclosure attached to the ECU – DO
NOT block the vents of the enclosure.
• The base of ECU must be between 0.4 and 1.8 m above the ground to provide
access for wiring and operation.
• The ECU cables to the auto retract are 20m long maximum.
2) Strip back the wires of the free end of the mains
cable to the appropriate lengths and feed them
through MAINS cable entry gland (Fig. 7-2).
Fig. 7-2

• Incoming mains wiring is secured against
movement
• A disconnection device is mounted close to the
ECU and marked for the purpose
1) Open the lid of the ECU to reveal the
connection terminals on the DIN Rails
(Fig. 7-1).
