Important Notes
1. WB1BZ and WG1BZ have similar digital BOM section (the signal routing path is almost
identical). Hence, boards can be swapped with each other in the A2B discovery chain.
2. WD1BZ LPS board can also be swapped with any of the above boards, but that would
require some minor software modifications.
a. TDM mode needs to be changed from TDM2 to TDM8.
b. The above modification implies changing the peripheral (CODEC) programming
XML file to “A2B_ADAU1761_Slave_TDM8.xml”, as shown next.

Page 5of 9
Background why the above change is required
Audio routing mechanism in ADAU1761 when using TDM8 mode is a little tricky. In the current
project, it is assumed that only 2 channels are fed as input to ADAU1761.
In WD1BZ schematics, there is no A2B CLKOUT signal connection to the ADAU1761 CODEC, unlike
in WB1BZ and WG1BZ boards.
As shown in the picture below, in the WD1BZ board, only the AD2428_BCLK signal can be
connected to the MCLK, and since the CODEC MCLK needs to run at 12.288MHZ, TDM8 must be
selected.

Page 6of 9
Since on WB1BZ and WG1BZ boards, ADR2/CLKOUT A2B transceiver pin can serve as an
additional MCLK generator to the connected DAC’s/ CODEC, the above restriction is not
applicable. See picture below.
Therefore, the TDM settings are kept the same for the WB1BZ and WG1BZ boards.

Page 7of 9
As stated earlier, users can swap WB1BZ and WG1BZ boards without any issue in the A2B chain.
But when swapping with a WD1BZ as a LPS node, make sure the TDM mode is changed from
TDM2 to TDM8.
The CLKOUT parameter is a “don’t care” in the WD1BZ device property settings, as there is no
physical connection on this particular board from the ADR2/CLKOUT A2B transceiver pin to the
CODEC MCLK pin. Therefore, leave this setting as-is.

Page 8of 9
Procedure
1. Make the hardware connections as follows: WD1BZ (Master) <-> WB1BZ (BPS) <-> WG1BZ (LPS) <->
WD1BZ (LPS) using UTP cables.
2. Make sure the jumpers are configured as per the tables above.
3. Open the A2B schematics: A2BSchematics/Jabra A2B_4_node_D1_B1_G1_D1.dspproj
4. Link Compile Download the A2B schematics onto the target.
5. Feed audio data by connecting the Aux cables to the Line-In connectors.
6. Verify audio data is received on the other node end Line-Out with the help of headphones.
Audio Stream Assignments

Page 9of 9
By default, in the upstream direction, upstream slot0 and slot1 (from WGZ and WD1BZ LPS) will
be played over the L and R channels of the headphones connected to the Master node.
To hear the upstream slot2 audio channel added by the WB1BZ node, open the ADAU1452 project
file, Link Compile Connect and change the MUX selection as shown below.
Note on Slave Evaluation Boards
1. It is observed sometimes that the node gets dropped when an Aux cable or headphones are
connected after the system is discovered, up and running. The following LEDs indicate that a
particular node is dropped from the A2B bus.

2. This could be a GND problem. Try feeding the audio input from a standalone mobile phone
etc., but in any case, it´s best to ensure the node is not active when plugging aux cables
and/or headphones.
