XP-Iris Overview
The XP-Iris is a portable, multimedia player for providing rich audio and video content to
individual visitors. It is a handheld device, with a touchscreen that enables visitors to
easily make selections and interact with the player and a physical keypad that allows
user to enter a number when prompted by the application on the screen.
Each XP-Iris has the capacity to store many different tour commentaries, each of which
can be in a number of different languages (see language support for supported
languages) and contain varied types of information, for example, slide-shows, videos,
images, audio commentary, on-screen text, interactive games, etc.
Visitors control their tour experience by interacting with the player through the
touchscreen and physical keys. Physical controls provide the means to enter
commentary numbers pause, play, fast forward and rewind tour content, adjust the
volume. On-screen controls provide the means to navigate through the content and
different options of the application.

Controls and Features
XP-Iris Controls:
The XP-Iris comprises the XP-Iris player with headphones and lanyard.
1. Volume Control button. Decreases the volume.
2. Volume Control button. Increases the volume.
3. Numerical key pad. Each commentary stored in the XP-Iris is coded with a
number, which corresponds to an audio number displayed near each exhibit.
This numerical pad enables you to key in the appropriate number.
4. Application navigation touchscreen pad.
5. Rewind button. Moves currently playing content back by three seconds.
6. Stop button. Pauses and Stops the selected content.
7. Play/Resume Play button. Play/Resume Play selected content.
8. Fast Forward button. Moves currently playing content forward by the three
seconds.
9. Sleep/Power button. Turns the device screen ON/OFF.

2. Navigate to list or application defines
menu.
3. Return to main menu or screen.
4. Search content, jump to numerically
identified content.

10.LCD display with resistive touchscreen. When XP-Iris is in use, it displays
applications and content. Navigation within applications are performed via
touchscreen.
11.Built in speaker. Alternatively you can use the headphones supplied with the XP-
Iris.
12.Headphones socket. This enables you to use headphones with the XP-Iris.
13.USB port. This port is used for uploading content and applications to the device,
it also serves as charging port.
14. Pinhole navigation Button 1. Used by technical support for maintenance.
15.Pinhole navigation Button 2. Used by technical support for maintenance.
16.Pinhole power button. Used to turn the XP-Iris OFF/ON and reboot the device.
17. Lanyard clip. Lanyard is provided with XP-Iris.

Char ers
Either a 25-slot or 50-slot charger is available for re-charging the XP-Iris batteries.
When plugging XP-Iris into a Cradle within the charging station, it should always be
done very carefully to prevent damage to the connectors.
Both 25 and 50 slot chargers act as charging station and uploading station. Each unit
has a USB port where computer can be connected to for uploading data. For more

Charging racks can be mounted on a stand to provide easy access to the XP-Iris units.

Charging racks can also be wall mounted. For details on the safest way to do this,
please ask your local Antenna Audio, Inc. contact (see "Worldwide contacts" on page
15).
50 slot charger is designed for large quantities. This design can be mounted in series of
4 units on one rack and can accommodate up to 200 slots once mounted.
A charging rack provides 50 individual slots for re-charging XP-Iris units.
25 Slot Char er
25 slot charger is a portable charging station as well as uploading station. Designed to
accommodate small quantities, but has stackable capabilities. Up to 4 units can be
stacked on top of each other.

Note: When stacking 25-slot chargers must be on level platform and must be secured to
each other.
Assemblin the Stand
Stands can be setup to contain four charging racks where they are double-sided and
freestanding (two racks on each side of the stand), or to contain two racks where they
are single-sided and secured to a wall (two racks on one side of the stand).
Connectin and Testin the Char in Racks
Once the rack(s) are assembled and connected to the electricity supply, test them to
ensure they are functioning correctly. To connect and test the rack(s):
1. Connect the plug from each charging rack you are using, to the electricity outlet.
Each rack requires 1.75 Amps (at 230V) or 3.5 Amps (at 110V) available electric current.
For safety reasons, please ensure the electricity outlet you are using provides
enough current for the number of racks you are using.
2. Switch each rack on.

3. If the red light next to the on/off switch on the rack does not illuminate, there is a
problem with the electricity supply from the main power source, or a faulty cable.
4. Place a XP-Iris in a charging slot. Screen on the device will indicate that the unit is
charging.
5. If it does not light up, put a different player in the same slot. If the battery light
illuminates, the slot is functioning, so the rack is working correctly.
6. If the battery light on the second player does not light, try it in a different slot to
make sure it is not the slot that is malfunctioning.
7. If it still does not light, the rack is not working correctly and needs to be checked
by an Antenna Audio, Inc. technician, according to the terms and conditions of
the limited warranty provided under your contract. Please refer to your contract
for full details.
Preparation for Use
The XP-Iris requires very little preparation to ensure it is ready for your visitors.
1. Remove the player from charging station.
2. Attach a lanyard to the clip on the back of the player.
3. Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.
4. Press any key on the physical key pad.
5. You should now be on language screen.
6. Player is now ready
Usin the Player
1. Select an XP-Iris player from those that are available.
2. If the player screen is black, wake the player by pressing power button on the
right side of the device.
3. Once on the landing page screen, press any key on the key pad. (example
number 5 or any other physical key)
