XP-Iris Overview
The XP-Iris is a portable, multimedia player for providing rich audio and video content to
individual visitors. It is a handheld device, with a touchscreen that enables visitors to
easily make selections and interact with the player and a physical keypad that allows
user to enter a number when prompted by the application on the screen.
Each XP-Iris has the capacity to store many different tour commentaries, each of which
can be in a number of different languages (see language support for supported
languages) and contain varied types of information, for example, slide-shows, videos,
images, audio commentary, on-screen text, interactive games, etc.
Visitors control their tour experience by interacting with the player through the
touchscreen and physical keys. Physical controls provide the means to enter
commentary numbers pause, play, fast forward and rewind tour content, adjust the
volume. On-screen controls provide the means to navigate through the content and
different options of the application.

Controls and Features
XP-Iris Controls:
The XP-Iris comprises the XP-Iris player with headphones and lanyard.
1. Volume Control button. Decreases the volume.
2. Volume Control button. Increases the volume.
3. Numerical key pad. Each commentary stored in the XP-Iris is coded with a
number, which corresponds to an audio number displayed near each exhibit.
This numerical pad enables you to key in the appropriate number.
4. Application navigation touchscreen pad.
5. Rewind button. Moves currently playing content back by three seconds.
6. Stop button. Pauses and Stops the selected content.
7. Play/Resume Play button. Play/Resume Play selected content.
8. Fast Forward button. Moves currently playing content forward by the three
seconds.
9. Sleep/Power button. Turns the device screen ON/OFF.
1. Return to previous screen.
2. Navigate to list or application defines
menu.
3. Return to main menu or screen.
4. Search content, jump to numerically
identified content.

10.LCD display with resistive touchscreen. When XP-Iris is in use, it displays
applications and content. Navigation within applications are performed via
touchscreen.
11.Built in speaker. Alternatively you can use the headphones supplied with the XP-
Iris.
12.Headphones socket. This enables you to use headphones with the XP-Iris.
13.USB port. This port is used for uploading content and applications to the device,
it also serves as charging port.
14. Pinhole navigation Button 1. Used by technical support for maintenance.
15.Pinhole navigation Button 2. Used by technical support for maintenance.
16.Pinhole power button. Used to turn the XP-Iris OFF/ON and reboot the device.
17. Lanyard clip. Lanyard is provided with XP-Iris.

Char ers
Either a 25-slot or 50-slot charger is available for re-charging the XP-Iris batteries.
When plugging XP-Iris into a Cradle within the charging station, it should always be
done very carefully to prevent damage to the connectors.
Both 25 and 50 slot chargers act as charging station and uploading station. Each unit
has a USB port where computer can be connected to for uploading data. For more

Charging racks can be mounted on a stand to provide easy access to the XP-Iris units.

Charging racks can also be wall mounted. For details on the safest way to do this,
please ask your local Antenna Audio, Inc. contact (see "Worldwide contacts" on page
15).
50 slot charger is designed for large quantities. This design can be mounted in series of
4 units on one rack and can accommodate up to 200 slots once mounted.
A charging rack provides 50 individual slots for re-charging XP-Iris units.
25 Slot Char er
25 slot charger is a portable charging station as well as uploading station. Designed to
accommodate small quantities, but has stackable capabilities. Up to 4 units can be
stacked on top of each other.

Note: When stacking 25-slot chargers must be on level platform and must be secured to
each other.
Assemblin the Stand
Stands can be setup to contain four charging racks where they are double-sided and
freestanding (two racks on each side of the stand), or to contain two racks where they
are single-sided and secured to a wall (two racks on one side of the stand).
Connectin and Testin the Char in Racks
Once the rack(s) are assembled and connected to the electricity supply, test them to
ensure they are functioning correctly. To connect and test the rack(s):
1. Connect the plug from each charging rack you are using, to the electricity outlet.
Each rack requires 1.75 Amps (at 230V) or 3.5 Amps (at 110V) available electric current.
For safety reasons, please ensure the electricity outlet you are using provides
enough current for the number of racks you are using.
2. Switch each rack on.

3. If the red light next to the on/off switch on the rack does not illuminate, there is a
problem with the electricity supply from the main power source, or a faulty cable.
4. Place a XP-Iris in a charging slot. Screen on the device will indicate that the unit is
charging.
5. If it does not light up, put a different player in the same slot. If the battery light
illuminates, the slot is functioning, so the rack is working correctly.
6. If the battery light on the second player does not light, try it in a different slot to
make sure it is not the slot that is malfunctioning.
7. If it still does not light, the rack is not working correctly and needs to be checked
by an Antenna Audio, Inc. technician, according to the terms and conditions of
the limited warranty provided under your contract. Please refer to your contract
for full details.
Preparation for Use
The XP-Iris requires very little preparation to ensure it is ready for your visitors.
1. Remove the player from charging station.
2. Attach a lanyard to the clip on the back of the player.
3. Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.
4. Press any key on the physical key pad.
5. You should now be on language screen.
6. Player is now ready
Usin the Player
1. Select an XP-Iris player from those that are available.
2. If the player screen is black, wake the player by pressing power button on the
right side of the device.
3. Once on the landing page screen, press any key on the key pad. (example
number 5 or any other physical key)

4. Now you should be prompted to select a language. Once you see this screen
XP-Iris is ready for use by the customer. (If the player is not responsive see
Troubleshooting section of this guide)
Char in the XP-Iris
Each XP-Iris is supplied with re-chargeable batteries, which can last on average 6 to 10
hours of use from a full charge.
It is recommended that all players are charged overnight to ensure a full charge for the
following days use.
1. If headphones have been used, unplug them from the player.
2. Switch off the players by pressing and holding the on/off button on the right side
of the device until the screen goes black.
3. Check if the charger is switched on. If not, switch it on.
4. Place each of the XP-Iris player into a vacant charging slot and apply light
pressure to ensure tight connection
5. When desk charging There is one ferrite bead core attached on the cable of the
desktop charging pedestal" The core must be used when desk charging..
When the XP-Iris is secured in the docking cradle and is charging properly, on the
screen of the XP-Iris a “Yellow” light with light up indicating charging status and a serial
number. Once the device is fully charged, the display color will change to Green with
“100% Charged” indicator.
Cleanin and Hy iene
Cleaning The XP-Iris units and charging equipment should be cleaned
on a regular basis with disinfectant wipes. This not only helps
keep the units in good order but is more pleasant for the users.
Note: Ensure the power is off prior to cleaning the charging
equipment.
Ear Pad Hygiene For hygiene reasons, headphone ear pads should be replaced or
washed twice a week. Wash ear pads gently in cold-water and
detergent; they can then be re-used numerous times. If ear pads

remain dirty even after washing, or are torn, they should be
disposed of.
Precautions
Equipment protection
•Always protect the XP-Iris equipment from moisture, heat, excessive dust or
sand and mechanical shocks.
•Avoid wrapping headphone cables tightly around the items when not in use as
this can cause damage
Noise level
•Avoid continuous periods of high volume listening. If you experience a ringing in
your ears, reduce the volume or discontinue use.
•Keep the volume at a moderate level. This will allow you to hear outside sounds
and be considerate to the people around you.
Service, repairs and modifications
•Service and repairs should be carried out by Antenna International only. Do not
attempt to make repairs, or modifications to your XP-Iris equipment. This will be
in breach of the terms of your contract and will invalidate your warranty.
Electric shocks
•When using the chargers, avoid touching the metal contacts in each charging slot
once the power supply has been connected.
•When cleaning the charging units, always ensure the power supply is switched
off.
Battery disposal
•Always dispose of old batteries in an environmentally-safe way, in accordance
with local regulations. Where possible re-cycle them. Contact your local authority
for details of battery re-cycling locations in your area.
•Do not puncture or incinerate batteries.
Charging stand
•Always ensure the charging stand is stable or firmly fixed so it does not tip over
and cause injuries.

Warranty
Antenna Audio, Inc. provides a limited time warranty against faulty XP-Iris equipment:
•Headphones and lanyards have a 3-month warranty
•All other equipment has a 12-month warranty
This warranty covers:
•Faulty internal components
•Faulty charger units
•Return transportation costs
This warranty does not cover:
•Damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, misapplication
•Damage caused by service performed by anyone other than an Antenna Audio,
Inc. technician
•Equipment that has been modified
•Replacement batteries
•Transportation costs to an Antenna Audio, Inc. service centre (see "Worldwide
contacts" on page 24)
Antenna Audio, Inc. reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of this
warranty.
WARNING
Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for
compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

LITHIUM-ION BATTERY CAUTION
This product is equipped with a Lithium-Ion battery. Do not pierce, open disassemble it,
or use it on a humid and/or corrosive environment. Do not store or leave device in or
near sources of heat such as direct sunlight, high temperature location, a pressurized
location or container, microwave oven. Do not expose it to temperatures over 60 C (140
F). If the battery leaks and you come into contact with the leaked fluids, rinse thoroughly
with water and seek medical attention immediately. Failure to follow above mentioned
instructions could cause the battery to leak acid, become hot, explode or ignite and
cause injury and/or damage. Never throw battery or the device with battery in it into a
fire.
BATTERY OPERATION OPTIMISATION
Do not leave battery charging for more than 7 days. Doing so runs the risk of
overcharging the battery and decreasing its total life expectancy.
If the device is not used for an extended period of time, device will discharge and
become unusable. To maximize battery performance, power off the device using
power button (refer to technical support manual for instructions)
Use only and Antenna International specified peripherals in the device. Using
other peripherals may cause battery to discharge faster.
Use sleep mode button located on the side of the device whenever the device is
not being used.
When the battery is indicating ¾ discharge, plug the device into the charger.
Leave the device plugged in to charger for few hours for effective battery charge.
CAUTION
To prevent the electronic shocks, the unit must be opened and serviced only by
qualified Antenna International personnel. Prior to servicing the unit make sure the
power is disconnected from the device.

FCC COMPLIANCE STATEMENT
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject
to the following two conditions:
1. This device ma not cause harmful interference, and
2. This device must accept an interference received, including
interference that ma cause undesired operation.
FCC WARNING
This equipment has been tested and found to compl with the limits for a
Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits
are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful
interference in a residential installation.
This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequenc energ
and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, ma
cause harmful inerference to radio communications.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to
radio or television reception, which can be determined b turning the
equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to tr to correct the
interference b one or more of the following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet different from that to which
the receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
Caution:
To compl with the limits for an FCC Class B computing device, alwa s
use the shielded signal cord with one ferrite core supplied with this unit.

IC STATEMENT
This device complies with Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation
is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause interference,

and (2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause
undesired operation of the device.
ENVIROMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
Protection if the environment is an important concern to Antenna International. In order
to put this concern into actions Antenna International has consciously included a set of
methods that favor a respect for the environment into entire cycle of its products; from
fabrication to consumer usage, to final disposal.
Batteries :If your product contains a detachable battery pack, you should only dispose
of it in a designated collection point for used batteries.
The Product: The crossed out garbage can symbol on our product signifies that it falls
into category of electric/electronic equipment. Products of this type contain substances
that are potentially dangerous to the environment and to human health. Therefore, you
should not dispose of the Antenna International device in a regular trash. As such, the
current European directives ask that this device be collected:
- At places of distribution in the case of a purchase of a similar electronic product.
- At locally created disposal areas (waste disposal centers, sorted trash systems
etc.)
By doing this, you are actively participating in the reuse and recycling of disposed
electronic and electric equipment that could have potentially effects on the environment
and human health.
