WARNING!
SUBMERSIBLE UV AQUARIUM FILTER
Thank you for choosing AQUATOP’s ELIMINATOR Internal Filters with UV Sterilization. This is not an ordinary
aquarium lter but a complex submersible unit that works continually to keep your aquarium water healthy and
clear. As water enters the lter, it is exposed to a germicidal grade UV bulb that destroys free-oating, algae
forming microorganisms. The ELIMINATOR Internal Filters w/ UV incorporates a special design to maximize the
UV dwell time, and this step goes a long way in ensuring a clean and healthy aquatic ecosystem. ln addition to
the power of UV sterilization, the ELIMINATOR Internal Filters w/ UV also includes a replaceable lter sponge
for mechanical ltration, activated carbon for chemical ltration, and an adjustable ow rate to suit your
aquarium setup.
UV sterilization is becoming a popular defense mechanism against nasty organisms that can cause all kinds
of trouble even in the most meticulous tank setups. The ELIMINATOR Internal Filter w/ UV are designed to be
used in both fresh and saltwater, and the UV bulb is extra insurance against undesirable invaders. UV targets
free-oating microorganisms, and although it can be extremely effective, it should be part of regular aquarium
maintenance such as water changes and lter cleaning. (Sorry, you can’t avoid good aquarium husbandry!)
The UV bulb assembly includes a power switch allowing it to run independently from the lter pump. The bulb
for the unit should be replaced every 6-9 months. After this amount of time, the bulb will either burn out or lose
effectiveness. Always make sure to disconnect power from the unit before proceeding and never look directly
into UV light as it can cause permanent eye damage.
Make sure to disconnect power from the unit before proceeding.
• Make sure that the spray bar is in a forward position so as not to block the lter cartridge.
• Press in the tab located at the top of the device just underneath the spray bar.
• Lift the old lter cartridge out of the device and dispose.
• Rinse the new lter cartridge with clean, fresh water and then insert the lter cartridge into the device until
it snaps in place.
Make sure to disconnect power from the unit before proceeding. The UV bulb for the unit has a lifespan of
about 8000 hours of use. After this amount of time, the bulb will either die or lose effectiveness.
• Remove the cover at the bottom of the unit.
• Remove the UV Bulb and dispose.
• Insert new UV Bulb and re-install the cover.
• Place the lter back into the aquarium and plug in the motor and UV bulb assembly.
NOTE: Ensure all internal UV parts and components are dry before putting back together.
NOTE: Do not touch new UV bulb with ngers. Use dry soft cloth for replacement. Oils from skin will damage
the new UV bulb not covered by warranty.
Controlling unsightly algae and unwanted algae blooms in aquariums can be a constant uphill
battle. Fortunately, AQUATOP offers the ideal weapon with the ELIMINATOR Internal Filter w/ UV.

If using this product with turtles, please be aware that it’s possible for turtles to
bite the electrical power cord when the unit is submerged in the water. If this
occurs, please unplug the unit and discontinue use.
WARNING! Do not look directly at the UV bulb when plugged in. UV light may damage your eyesight. Always
keep the cover on when UV bulb is in use. Direct contact is dangerous to the eyes and skim. To check and see if
the UV bulb is functioning please use the UV light indicator located at the top of the device which is also the ow
adjustment knob. If there is a dim blue light being emitted, this indicates that the UV bulb is on and working. If
there is no dim blue light, this indicates that the UV bulb is dead and needs to be replaced. See diagram below:
1) Read and follow all instructions.
2) A drip loop must be used when plugging all electrical aquarium devices.
A drip loop is the part of the cord hanging below the receptacle. (See Fig. 1)
3) A GFCI (Ground fault circuit interrupter) should be used in the branch circuit supplying all power to air
pumps and electrical aquarium equipment. If you do not have a GFCI, we strongly recommend having a
qualied electrician install one prior to operating any aquarium component.
4) Do not plug into extension cord/power strip.
5) Use this product for its intended use only.
6) Never yank or pull the cord from the electrical outlet.
7) Do not operate if the plug or wire is damaged.
8) Do not operate without water.
9) Verify that hands are dry prior to disconnecting the power.
10) To reduce the risks of electrocution, keep all connections dry.
11) For indoor use only.
12) Do not use soaps or detergents when cleaning this device. Thoroughly clean and rinse with warm water
and make sure the device is completely dry before connecting.
13) Do not diasssemble the UV unit while connected to power or turned on.
14) Do not look directly into the UV bulb when plugged in, since UV light may damage your eyesight. Always
keep cover on when UV unit is in use.
15) Keep this product away from children and those unfamiliar with this manual and product.
