SP NANO UV manual.indd 1 12/19/17 1:40 PM
Thank you for choosing Aquatop’s SPNANO-UV submersible UV sterilizing lter. This innovative and exible design
is perfect to help you eliminate unsightly algae and control unwanted algae blooms. The UV bulb aids in the health of
aquatic life by eradicating free oating microorganisms and disease causing pathogens in both salt and freshwater
aquariums.
The SPNANO-UV Filter uses a submersible top-mounted pump to draw water past its compact UV bulb. The UV bulb
is encapsulated in a unique quartz tube and includes a sponge pre-lter to mechanically lter organic waste before
water passes over the UV bulb.
The versatile design of the SPNANO-UV Series Filter allows for UV Sterilization to be submersed in both fresh and
saltwater nano aquariums. With its compact size, the SPNANO-UV can be easily mounted vertically or horizontally in
smaller aquariums or sumps tanks. The design allows for easy installation and maintenance.
Please reference this manual for any questions and/or instructions for use. May Aquatop’s SPNANO-UV submersible
UV sterilizing lter serve you and your aquatic creatures well.
READ ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.
• A GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) should be used in the branch circuit supplying all power to
water pumps and electrical aquarium equipment. If you do not have a GFCI, we strongly recommend
having a qualied Electrician install one prior to operating any aquarium components.
• Before using, please check whether there are any signs of damage to the appliance, the UV quartz
tube or UV bulb. If there are any, please return the product to the original place of purchase.
• Do not disassemble the UV bulb when the appliance is plugged in.
• Do not stare at the UV bulb directly when it is on and working. UV light exposure can cause serious
injury to your eyes and/or eyesight.
• Unplug or cut off power to the appliance when assembling, cleaning or disassembling the appliance.
• Keep the appliance away from children
• Keep the appliance fully submersed when on
• Always use this appliance for its intended use only.
NOTE: The top-mounted pump needs to be fully submerged underwater to provide maximum effectiveness and life
of the product. See Fig. 2
After mounting and checking the water level power up the unit by plugging in both power cords into an appropriate
AC outlet or power strip.
NOTE: The unit can be mounted vertically or horizontal with the supplied extension tube as shown. See Fig. 1
NOTE: Please unplug or cut off power to the appliance when assembling, cleaning or disassembling the appliance.
A. Separate the top-mounted pump housing from the lter body as shown in Fig. 3
B. Remove the pre-lter sponge and rinse clean of debris.
C. Remove the UV sterilizing tube assembly as shown in Fig. 5 Clean the UV sterilizing tube of debris, excess
mineral and heavy metal deposits.
D. The UV bulb should be replaced every 6-9 months for peak performance. If you notice diminishing water quality, it
may be time to replace the UV bulb.
NOTE: The SPNANO-UV uses a proprietary 5 Watt UV Bulb which includes a quartz tube housing and power cord
adapter (Part #SPNANO-R5WUV). Please contact your local retailer or visit www.aquatop.com for more information.
NOTE: For Aquariums larger than 30 gallons, check out our other models in the SP-UV Series.
