Installation is only permitted by qualified electricians who have successfully completed
additional training for working on vehicles with high-voltage systems and who are au-
thorized to do this.
Repairs may also only be performed by such specialists or by the manufacturer.
Observe these installation instructions and keep them by the product.
The contents of these installation instructions must be read, understood,
and followed completely by all responsible persons. This especially applies
to the safety instructions. Following the safety instructions helps to pre-
vent accidents, malfunctions, and errors.

1.3 Proper use
These installation instructions are only valid for the following device series:
-VECTOPOWER®VP600 18W1-xxx….
-VECTOPOWER®VP600 28W1-xxx….
For the device designations, see chapter 1.5.
This document describes the installation and electrical connection of the above devices.
The installation instructions must always be stored so that they are within reach and ac-
cessible at all times.
The use of accessories and the operation of the control are described in separate in-
structions.
The VECTOPOWER®axis module is a controllable inverter device for operating a motor
and for use as a motor inverter with an incremental encoder, resolver, and, under certain
conditions, without sensors.
Any type of use beyond this is not proper use, and liability will then be excluded.
The following is not permitted, for example:
-Use in rooms where there is an explosion hazard
-Use in rooms with a humidity of over 95 % or dew formation / condensation
-Use as a permanent feed-in unit in a supply network

2.2 Instruction notices
Observe the ETUC handling instructions.
Observe the installation instructions
Disconnect before performing work on the device. For this reason, always
observe the 5 safety rules before starting work on electrical equipment.
1. Disconnect from the mains supply
2. Secure against restarting
3. Make sure that no voltage is present
4. Ground and short-circuit (with 1 kV and more, except for power lines)
5. Cover or enclose neighboring live parts.
Protect against moisture!
In closed condition, the device has IP20 or IP65 degree of protection (de-
pending on the housing version) and in open condition IP00. The device
may only be operated in closed condition. The devices with IP20 degree
of protection are exclusively intended for control cabinet installation.

2.3 Safety information
DANGER!
Danger from electricity!
Electricity in general is very dangerous. Observe the following points:
-Work on the electrical supply may only be performed by specialists.
-Regularly check the electrical equipment of the installation. Imme-
diately remove loose connections and burned cables or restore
them to their proper condition.
The operator of the overall system is responsible for observing the general
and application-specific safety rules and regulations for preventing acci-
dents.
When designing machinery and using the device, it is necessary to ob-
serve the application-specific safety rules and the regulations for prevent-
ing accidents, such as, e.g.:
-EN 60204, Electrical equipment of machines
-EN 292, Safety of machines, general principles for design
-DIN 57 100 part 410, Protection against shock current
-If work on live parts is necessary, a second person must be present
who can switch off the main switch and provide help if necessary.
-Otherwise, the main switch must be switched off and secured
against accidental restarting.
-Pull the mains plug.
The device may only be assembled and electrically connected by author-
ized, EMC-trained specialists in accordance with the applicable regula-
tions, when it is de-energized and the machine is switched off.
The "EMC installation instructions" must be observed.
The machine must be secured against restarting!

DANGER!
Danger from electricity!
The device may only be installed and operated when it is in a faultless and
perfect condition. Modifications to and conversions of the device are not
permitted!
The device and its accessories may only be repaired by authorized special-
ists who observe the respectively valid safety rules and regulations for
preventing accidents.
The following standards must be observed:
-prEN 954-1, Safety-related parts of controls
-prEN 1088, Interlocking devices with and without guard locking
-EN 60204-1, Electrical equipment of machines
CAUTION!
The device contains electrostatically sensitive components. ETUC
handling instructions must be observed.
Components can be easily destroyed by improper handling.
If you have to work with electronic modules, observe the following infor-
mation:
-Electronic modules should only be touched if this is unavoidable
due the work to be performed.

Protect against moisture!
In closed condition, the device has IP20 or IP65 degree of protection
(depending on the housing version) and in open condition IP00. The
device may only be operated in closed condition. The devices with IP20
degree of protection are exclusively intended for control cabinet instal-
lation.
DANGER!
Danger!
In the case of impermissible removal of the required covers, improper use,
as well as incorrect installation or operation, there is a risk of death, severe
injury, or material damage.
Danger from residual voltage!
After the mains voltage is switched off, it is necessary to wait at least
5 minutes before starting work in or on the inverter (the DC voltage in the
DC link capacitors has to discharge through the discharging resistors first)!
WARNING!
Warning against hot surfaces!
The device produces waste heat. This can cause the housing surface to
become hot and cause burns if touched. Avoid touching the housing, or
check the temperature of the housing beforehand. The housing can also
be heated by the cooling water without being in operation itself.
WARNING!
Never install any easily inflammable objects near the housing. Danger of
fire!
