Garden Pergola Build Instructions
Before you commence the assembly process, we recommend that you read these instructions
thoroughly beforehand to familiarize yourself with the assembly process and to also check that
you have the correct components. If for any reason you need assistance, you can find our
contact details on the top of page of these instructions.
We highly recommend that any assembly is carried out on a flat, level surface if possible
and that you use another person to assist you if necessary.
Important: The redwood posts are supplied at 2.7m long to give the customer the
option to concrete them into the ground and leaving finishing the structure at 2.3m
high. If you want to have pergola as a free-standing structure you must cut down posts
to 2.3m in length.

2x Runners Platform or Step ladder
6x Rafters
12 x M8 Coach screws
12 (20) x 85mm and 16 (20) x 65mm screws
1x Spacer

Take one of the posts and one of the main beams
and arrange on the floor as shown
Put the upright perpendicular to the runner and its
outside edge make sure it is aligned with the pencil
mark near the runner’s end
Slide the upright onto the main beam and fix into
place using 2x 65mm screws through pre-drilled
holes in the upright. Please note both sides of the
runner must have an overhang of 40.5 cm.
Then align one of the short braces as shown, make
sure ends are flush and central against the main
beam and upright. Secure it into place with 85mm
screws use pre-drilled holes. Repeat steps 1-3 for the
remaining 3 uprights and main beam

4.8m x 4.8m garden pergola kit version will have
additional upright midway. Align uprights using pencil
mark and secure with 85mm screws using pre-drilled
holes. Then, attached short braces as shown in the
picture and secure it with 85mm screws
Using your assistance, lay out the two finished
frames, facing each other as shown above so that
they are approximate distance of your internal rafter
length. (Measure rafters distance between cut-outs)
Get one of the rafters ready to be slotted in place and
have your assistance support the 2 frames vertically as
shown above.
First and last rafters sit on the outside of the uprights.
Repeat this step for the other side.

Now add a longer brace to secure the rafter in place.
Make sure that brace is aligned with top of the rafter
and bottom of the brace is central and flush with the
upright. Secure using 2x 65mm screws at the top and
1x 85mm screw at the bottom
Place a second rafter on the main beam (slot side
down) and use the supplied spacer to position it at
correct distance from the end rafter. Repeat at the
other end of the rafter
Now secure the correctly positioned rafter in using a
coach screw through the pre-drilled hole on the top
of the main beam and both end of the rafter.

Continue adding and securing the remaining 3
rafters, using the spacer as before to ensure the
correct spacing.
