Al estar actualizando y mejorando constantemente nuestros productos, la apariencia o el software de su dispositivo pueden variar ligeramente con respecto a lo descrito en esta guía de usuario.
RECARGA
REPRODUCCIÓN DE MÚSICA
CONEXIÓN A UN ORDENADOR
El ARCHOS se conecta al ordenador mediante el cable USB como cualquier unidad de disco duro
externa, por lo que en el Explorador deWindows® aparecerá con una letra de unidad (por ejemplo,
ARCHOS (E:) ). En los ordenadores Macintosh®, también aparece como disco duro externo.
Puede transferir sus archivos multimedia del ARCHOS copiando y pegando éstos en sus carpetas
respectivas mediante el Explorador deWindows® (o el Finder en un Macintosh®), o utilizando el
Reproductor de Windows Media®. El botón Sincronizar del Reproductor deWindows Media® funciona
en una sola dirección, insertando archivos de vídeo, música y fotos en el ARCHOS.Así, puede llevar en
el ARCHOS el mismo contenido digital que tiene en la biblioteca del Reproductor de Windows Media®.
En el ordenador, inicie el Reproductor de Windows Media®. 1) Seleccione la pestaña Sincronizar. 2) Ar-
rastre los archivos multimedia que desee transferir al área de sincronización en el panel de la derecha.
3) Haga clic en el botón Iniciar sincronización. Los vídeos, canciones y fotos seleccionados se copiarán
directamente en la carpeta correspondienteVideo, Music o Pictures del ARCHOS. Consulte la sección de
ayuda de su Reproductor deWindows Media® para obtener más información.
VISUALIZACIÓN DE FOTOS
Abra el navegador de fotos para ver las fotos almacenadas una a una o en forma de presentación
automatizada. Para ver una presentación con las fotos de la carpeta actual, pulse el botón de menú
M y luego seleccione Slideshow [Presentación de imágenes]. Para añadir música a la present-
ación, primero pinche en una canción en el reproductor de música, pulse el botón Inicio y luego vaya
al navegador de fotos para iniciar la presentación de imágenes.
EL EXPLORADOR
Utilice el explorador para ver todos los archivos almacenados en suARCHOS eReader. Resalte un archivo y pulse
el botón OK/Reproducir para abrirlo (siempre y cuando el formato de archivo sea compatible).
TARJETAS DE MEMORIA
Introduzca una tarjeta de memoria SD o SDHC en la ranura correspondiente, con los conectores dorados
mirando hacia arriba. Si la ha introducido correctamente, el borde exterior de la tarjeta quedará alineado con
la carcasa del dispositivo. Para extraer la tarjeta, presiónela ligeramente para activar un pequeño muelle que le
ayudará a quitarla.
RESOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS
PROBLEMA: ¿Por qué con el Explorador me aparecen archivos que cuando abro la carpeta no veo?
SOLUCIÓN: Al usar los modos eBook, Foto o Vídeo,el dispositivo ltra y oculta todo aquello que no pertenezca
a un determinado tipo de archivos. De ahí que, por ejemplo, si abre el navegador de fotos y mira en eBooks, sólo
vera los archivos de foto.
PROBLEMA: El dispositivo está bloqueado y no responde a ningún botón.
SOLUCIÓN: Apague el dispositivo con el botón de encender/apagar y vuélvalo a iniciar de forma normal. En
caso necesario, fuerce el inicio del sistema introduciendo un clip en el oricio de restablecimiento, en la parte
inferior del dispositivo.
PROBLEMA: El dispositivo se apaga sin ningún aviso.
SOLUCIÓN: El dispositivo se apaga cuando la batería está casi vacía.Compruebe también no haber selec-
cionado un periodo de tiempo muy corto en Settings [Conguración], Auto shut-off [Apagado automático]. El
dispositivo se apagará si no pulsa ningún botón durante el periodo de tiempo especicado.
Para cambiar el idioma del dispositivo, seleccione Settings [Conguración] > Language [Idi-
oma], y escoja el idioma deseado. Pulse el botón Volver/Escape para volver.
En el navegador de música podrá realizar búsquedas por título, intérprete, álbum o género (siem-
pre que los archivos de música dispongan de esta información de etiqueta). Las canciones sin eti-
quetas se guardan en las carpetas <No artist>, <No album>, etc. Recuerde que puede escuchar
música mientras lee un eBook. Para ello, realice lo siguiente.

DESCONEXIÓN DE UN ORDENADOR
REPRODUCCIÓN DE VÍDEO
En el navegador de vídeo encontrará una lista con todos los archivos de vídeo (y sólo archivos de
vídeo) guardados en la carpetaVideo del ARCHOS.
Una vez terminada la transferencia de archivos, cierre el Explorador deWindows® y cualquier otro
programa que pudiera haber sido utilizado con elARCHOS. Haga clic en el icono "quitar de forma
segura" en la bandeja de sistema, junto al reloj. SÓLO una vez hecho esto, podrá desenchufar el
cable USB del ARCHOS y/o del ordenador.

LECTURA DE UN E-BOOK
Seleccione eBook en la pantalla principal y aparecerá un listado con todos los archivos ebook
compatibles de la carpeta eBooks. Pulse el botón OK/Reproducir para abrir el libro.
TRANSFERENCIA DE E-BOOKS Y OTROS ACHIVOS MULTIMEDIA AL ARCHOS
SELECCIÓN DEL IDIOMA
Una vez conectado el ARCHOS a su ordenador, utilice el navegador de archivos de este último (el
Explorador de Windows® o el Finder de Mac) para copiar y pegar (o arrastrar y soltar) en la carp-
eta eBooks del ARCHOS eReader revistas o libros que ya tenga descargados en su ordenador. El
ARCHOS e-book reader puede visualizar libros, revistas y documentos en los siguientes formatos:
PDF (normal o Adobe DRM), EPUB (normal o ADOBE DRM), PDB, FB2, HTML, RTF, MOBI,TXT.

Video
El eReader se recarga cada vez que se conecta a un ordenador a través del cable USB incluido. Para
una recarga más rápida del eReader, utilice el cargador/adaptador incluido.Al conectar el carga-
dor/adaptador al dispositivo, éste se encenderá e iniciará automáticamente la carga. El icono de
batería en la esquina superior derecha de la pantalla se llena y vacía para indicar que la batería
se está cargando. La batería interna estará completamente cargada cuando este icono de batería
deje de vaciarse y muestre una batería totalmente cargada.
Debido a la Gestión de Derechos Digitales registrados (DRM),no son compatibles con este dispositivo los ebooks
del Kindle de Amazon, del Nook de Barnes & Noble, del Reader ™ de Sony, del iPad de Apple y de otros sistemas
patentados.
Si desea añadir una canción o un álbum a su lista de favoritos,
resalte la canción o el álbum elegido y pulse el botón de dirección
izquierdo. La canción o el álbum pasarán a formar parte de su lista
de favoritos. Para borrar una canción de sus favoritos, entre en
la lista y luego pulse el botón de dirección izquierdo para ver las
opciones disponibles.
1. Empiece la reproducción del álbum deseado.
2. Pulse el botón Inicio para volver a la pantalla de inicio.
3. Vaya a eBook y seleccione el libro que desee leer.
4. Para detener la música, vuelva a la pantalla de inicio y
seleccione Music [Música], y luego Currently Playing [Reproduc.
en curso] para controlar la reproducción de música.
Adobe Digital Editions
Puede descargar los libros más recientes en ePub y PDF protegidos y transferirlos a su lector elec-
trónico. Para ello, es necesario descargar e instalar el Adobe ® Digital Editions en su ordenador. Esta
aplicación le permitirá comprar libros electrónicos y transferirlos a su ARCHOS.
Para instalar Adobe Digital Editions, siga las siguientes instrucciones.
1. Ir a la dirección siguiente: www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions.
2. Pulse INSTALAR
3. Siga las instrucciones del asistente de instalación.
4. Ahora puede transferir sus libros electrónicos en formato ePub o PDF a su ARCHOS eReader.

Precaución Batería Litio-ión
Este producto está equipado con una batería de Litio-ion. No la agujeree, abra o desmonte ni la use en entornos húmedos y/o corrosivos.No
ponga, guarde o deje su producto en o cerca de fuentes de calor,expuesto directamente a la luz solar,en una localización de alta temperaturas en
un contenedor a presión o en un microondas.No lo exponga a temperaturas mayores de 60ºC. Si la batería gotea y contacta con su piel, lávese
con abundante agua y busque atención médica de forma inmediata. Si no sigue las instrucciones aquí expresadas podría darse el caso que el ácido
de la batería de Litio-ion se calentara, explotara o ardiera y causara otras heridas o daños. Sólo los técnicos ociales de ARCHOS están cualicados
para reparar su dispositivo ARCHOS. Acudir a personas no cualicadas para reparar su producto ARCHOS puede conllevar riesgos para usted y dañar
su dispositivo, así como anular su garantía. Para prevenir riesgos de electrocuciones, esta unidad únicamente deberá abrirse por personal ocial
cualicado.

Prevención de Lesiones Auditivas
Este producto respeta las normativas vigentes sobre limitaciones a un nivel seguro en el volumen de salida
jado para los dispositivos de audio. Al escuchar su dispositivo con auriculares a un volumen muy alto corre
el riesgo de dañar permanentemente sus oídos. Incluso si usted está acostumbrado a ese tipo de volumen y le
parece normal, está corriendo un riesgo innecesario de padecer una lesión auditiva.Reduzca el volumen de su
dispositivo a un nivel razonable para evitar lesiones auditivas permanentes.
Si oye un pitido en sus oídos, baje el volumen o apague su dispositivo. Este dispositivo ha sido probado con los auriculares suministrados por
ARCHOS. Para preservar su audición, se recomienda que utilice solamente los siguientes modelos: auriculares ARCHOS, o cualquier otro que
cumpla las normativas actuales. Otros modelos de auriculares pueden producir un mayor nivel de volumen.
Consideraciones Ambientales
La protección del medio ambiente es una preocupación importante para ARCHOS.Para traducir este compromi-
so en acciones tangibles, ARCHOS ha incluido una serie de métodos para favorecer el respecto por el entorno en
toda su gama de productos. Desde la fabricación hasta su uso y su posterior eliminación.Baterías: Si su producto
contiene un pack de pilas/baterías desechables, por favor deposítelas exclusivamente en los puntos de recolecta
especialmente indicados para pilas/baterías gastadas.
El Producto: El símbolo del contendor de basura tachado de su dispositivo signica que pertenece a la categoría de equipo eléctrico/electróni-
co. Productos de este tipo contienen sustancias potencialmente peligrosas para el medio ambiente y la salud.Por tanto, no debe depositar su
ARCHOS en contenedores de basura convencional. En este caso,la normativa europea señala que dichos productos deben ser recogidos en:
- Lugares de distribución en el caso de compra de éste u otros productos electrónicos similares.
- Áreas destinadas a dicha recogida (centros de residuos, sistemas de basuras clasicadas, etc.)
Al hacerlo, estará participando activamente en la reutilización y el reciclado de equipos electrónicos y eléctricos que puede tener graves efectos
sobre el medio ambiente y la salud.

Lithium-ion Battery Caution
This product is equipped with a Lithium-Ion battery. Do not pierce, open, disassemble it, or use it in a humid and/or corrosive environment. Do not
put, store or leave your product in or near sources of heat, in direct strong sunlight, in a high temperature location,in a pressurized container or in

CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER
When you connect the USB cable to your computer, theARCHOS will connect as an external hard
drive.Windows® Explorer will show it as ARCHOS (E:) for example. For Macintosh® computers, it
will also appear as an external hard drive.
You can transfer your media les to the ARCHOS either by copy/pasting them into the respective
folders using Windows® Explorer (or the Finder on a Macintosh®), or by usingWindows Media®
Player.The Synchronize button inWindows Media® Player is a one way ‘sync’ button. It will add
video, music and photo les to your ARCHOS. It will give you the possibility to have the same
digital media on your ARCHOS as you have in your Windows Media® Player library. On your
computer, start Windows Media® Player. 1) Select the Sync tab. 2) Drag the media les you want to
transfer into the sync area in the panel on the right. 3) Click on the Start Sync button. The selected
videos, songs or photos will be copied directly into the correspondingVideo, Music or Pictures folder
of the ARCHOS. See your Windows Media® Player help instructions for more information.
PHOTO PLAYBACK
Opening the photo browser will allow you to view the stored photos one by one or as an automatic
slide show. To view the current folder of pictures as a s lide show, press the M menu button and then
select Slideshow. You can have a slide show display to background music by rst starting a song
in the music player, pressing the Home button and then going to the photo browser and starting a
slideshow.
EXPLORER
The explorer allows you to view all the les that are stored on your ARCHOS eReader. When you highlight a le
and press on the OK/Play button, it will open the le if it is a le type that it recognizes.
MEMORY CARDS
Slide an SD or SDHC memory card into the card slot with the gold connectors facing upwards. The card’s outer
edge should remain ush to the body of the device once it is inserted correctly. To remove the card, push it in
slightly and a spring will then push it out so you can remove it.
TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM: When I look into a folder, it says that there are not les there yet when I look with the Explorer I can
see les in that folder.
SOLUTION: When you use the eBook, Photo, or Video modes, the device lters from view anything that is
not a le of that specic type. Thus, if you open the Photo browser and look in eBooks, it will lter from view
everything that is not a photo.
PROBLEM: The device is frozen and doesn’t respond to any of the buttons.
SOLUTION: Turn off the device with the switch on the bottom and restart as normal. Alternatively, you can
press the reset button on the bottom of the device by using an object such as a paper clip.
PROBLEM: The device turns off without any warning.
SOLUTION: If your battery becomes very low, the device will shut off. Also, check your Settings to see if the
Auto shut-off is set for a very short period of time.The device shuts off if you do not press any buttons for that
set amount of time.
To change the language of your device, select Settings > Language, and then the desired lan-
guage. Press on the Back/escape button to return.
Opening the music browser will allow you to choose your music by the title, artist, album, or
genre (so long as the music les have these tag information in them). If a song has no music tags,
then you can nd it in the folder named <No artist>, <No album>, etc. Remember, you can
listen to music while reading an eBook by doing the following.

DISCONNECTING FROM A COMPUTER
VIDEO PLAYBACK
Opening the Video browser will display a list of the video les (and only video les) that have
been saved to the Video folder on theARCHOS.
Once all your le transfers are nished, close Windows® Explorer and any other program that
may have read or written to the ARCHOS. Click on the ‘safely remove’ icon in the system tray,
next to the clock. ONLY once this is done should you unplug the USB cable from ARCHOS and/
or your computer.

VIEWING AN E-BOOK
When you select eBook from the main screen, you will see a listing of all the compatible ebook
le types in the folder eBooks. Press the OK/Play button to open the book.

SETTING THE LANGUAGE
Once you have connected the ARCHOS to your computer, you’ll use the le browser of your com-
puter (Windows® Explorer or Mac nder) to copy/paste (or drag & drop) books or magazines that
you have already downloaded to your computer into the eBooks folder on yourARCHOS eReader.
The ARCHOS e-book reader can display books, magazines, and texts with the following fomats:

Your eReader will charge each time it is connected to the computer via the included USB cable.
To charge your eReader more efciently, use the included charger/adapter. When you connect the
charger/adapter to the device, it will turn on and start charging automatically. The battery icon
on the top right of the screen animates to indicate that the battery is charging.The internal bat-
tery is completely charged when the battery icon on the top right of the screen stops animating
and shows a full battery icon.
Because of proprietary Digital Rights Management (DRM), ebooks for Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes & Noble’s Nook,
Sony’s Reader ™ , Apple’s iPad or other propriatary systems are not readable on this device.
If you would like to add a song or an album to your favorites list,
highlight the desired song or album when it is listed and press the
left direction button.The song or album will now be a part of the
favorites category. To delete a song from your favorites list, enter the
list and then press on the left directional button to see your options.
1. Start music from the desired album.
2. Press the Home button to return to the home screen.
3. Go to eBook and select the ebook you want to read.
4.To stop the music, you will need to go back to the home
screen and select Music, then Currently Playing to control the
music playback.
Adobe Digital Editions
You can download the most recent books in protected ePub and PDF format and transfer them
onto your eReader. So you need to download and install Adobe Digital Editions onto your com-
puter.This program will help you when you order and transfer your eBooks onto your ARCHOS.
Follow these steps to install Adobe Digital Editions.
1. Go to www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions.
2. Click on the START INSTALLATION button.
3. Follow the Installation wizard.
4. You can now transfer Adobe DRM epub and PDF eBooks to your ARCHOS eReader.
