Check contents of your kit for the parts listed (figure 1):
Install 40-Inch Vanes (Figure 2)
NOTE: Vanes require more power and generate more
noise. The Ariens Company recommends that the bagger
be used without the vanes first. If the bagger
performance is satisfactory, the vanes are not needed.
NOTE: The word "FRONT" is stamped on the vanes; this
side MUST face up.
1. Install the 40-inch vanes (item 4) on mower blades
(item 7) with 5/16" x 3/4" hex bolts (item 3) and
5/16" center locknuts (item 5).

CAUTION: Vanes MUST be used in pairs. DO
NOT interchange with different or worn vanes
on same blade. Using one of each of a
different type or worn vane will cause blade to
be out of balance. Severe vibration will occur
and may cause damage to the mower that
results in personal injury.
CAUTION: Specific hex bolts and center
locknuts are supplied for the installation of the
vanes. DO NOT substitute. Loose or
damaged hardware may allow vanes to come
off the mower blade causing personal injury.

Install Mower Boot Assembly (Figure 3)
1. Lift up discharge chute (item 8) and install mower
boot assembly (item 1) on mower deck (item 10).
2. Secure mower boot assembly (item 1) on mower
deck (item 10) with two L-Pins (item 9).
Modify Bagger Hose (Figure 4)
NOTE: The length of original 42-inch bagger hose
(item 12) is approximately 38 inches (96.5 cm) and the
length of 40-inch bagger hose (item 11) is approximately
23-1/8 inches (58.7 cm).
IMPORTANT: It is estimated that the approximate length
of bagger hose to cut (item 13) will be 14-7/8 in.
(37.8 cm). However, MAKE SURE the length of the
bagger hose from the mower boot assembly to the upper
boot is correct prior to cutting the bagger hose (see figure
5 for location of upper boot and mower boot assembly).
1. Cut bagger hose to fit between mower boot
assembly and upper boot.
Install Bagger Hose (Figure 5)
1. Install bagger hose (item 15) on mower boot
assembly (item 1) with hose clamp (item 16)
