The information in this manual is crucial to the
proper use and maintenance of the
BHM Turntable. It will help protect your product
as well as ensure that it performs to your
satisfaction.
Lifting and transferring a person always
presents a potential risk. This manual contains
safety related information that must be read
and understood to help prevent injuries.
WARNING: ArjoHuntleigh strongly advises
and warns that to avoid injuries that can be
attributed to the use of inadequate parts,
only parts designated by ArjoHuntleigh
should be used on product and other
appliances supplied by ArjoHuntleigh.
WARNING: Unauthorized modications on
any ArjoHuntleigh product may affect its
safety. ArjoHuntleigh will not be held
responsible for any accidents, incidents or
lack of performance that occur as a result of
any unauthorized modication to its products.
Do not attempt to expose, service or repair the

installed and put into service by an authorized

BHM Turntable by ArjoHuntleigh trained service
personnel. This will ensure it remains safe and
functional.

Safety Instructions2
Intended Use
The BHM Turntable is a track accessory to be
used with the BHM track system and a xed
ceiling lift in a homecare setting, at nursing
homes and other assisted living centres. The
BHM Turntable allows the ceiling lift to pass
from a track path to another. Patient transferring
is performed under the supervision of a trained
caregiver as per the instructions outlined in this
manual. All other uses must be avoided.
The BHM Turntable must only be used for the
purposes stated above. It must be installed by
ArjoHuntleigh authorized personnel as per local
codes.
WARNING: The BHM Turntable is not
intended to be operated by the patient.
In the event of a malfunction, the patient
could get stuck.
WARNING: The BHM Turntable is for
transferring patients only. Do not use the
BHM Turntable for any other purpose.
Using this BHM Turntable outside the scope
of its intended use could lead to injuries.
Operational Life
This product is designed and tested for a useful
life of seven (7) years or 10 000 cycles —
whichever comes rst—at maximum safe
working load (SWL). It is subject to preventive
maintenance as specied in the “Care and
Maintenance” section.
A complete cycle is dened as the rotation of
the BHM Turntable to the desired track path and
its rotation to the initial track path.
Time equivalence between the number of
cycles versus the number of years is made
clear in the following table.

WARNING: The manufacturer cannot
ensure full safety for an accessory of which
the life span has been exceeded. Wear may
cause the breakage of a part and lead to a
patient fall.
The life span is the safe operating time period
before a complete overhaul is required.
Following are factors that have an impact on
the lift’s life span:
• aging of the unit;
• transfers per day;
• weight of the patient;
• maintenance frequency.
Product Identication
The product’s identication number
(specication, model, serial number) appears
on a silver label xed inside the track of the
BHM Turntable.
How to Use this Manual
To ensure the safe operation of the
BHM Turntable, read the entire manual carefully
before operating this product.
If anything is not completely understood, please
contact your local ArjoHuntleigh, agent for more
details. Failure to comply with warnings in this
manual may result in injuries.
Keep this manual handy and refer to it as
required. Make sure that all operators are
regularly trained in the use of the product as per
the information found therein.
The BHM Turntable must be used as per these
safety instructions.
Anyone using the BHM Turntable must also
have read and understood the instructions in
this manual.
If there is anything you are not sure about,
contact your local ArjoHuntleigh, representative.
Safe Working Load
The BHM Turntable has been designed to be
used with ArjoHuntleigh ceiling lifts with a safe
working load of 272 kg (600 lb) or less.
WARNING: The BHM Turntable is intended
to be used for residents whose weight is
within a specied safe working load (SWL).
Do not attempt to lift more than the lowest
weight limit indicated on the following:
• the track system
• the “maximum load” label on the
ceiling lift
• on the spreader bar
• on accessories
• on the sling.
Overloading any of these elements could
lead to a patient fall.

Important Safety Directions
WARNING:All track ends must have an end
stopper in place and secured. They are part
of safety features. A missing end stopper
might lead to a patient fall.
WARNING:There must be an end stopper
in each red zone labelled “NO RAIL”. They
are part of safety features. A missing end
stopper might lead to a patient fall.
WARNING:ArjoHuntleigh, warns of possible
strangulation risks related to the pull cords
and advises to take necessary precautions
to prevent these.
CAUTION: ArjoHuntleigh, BHM Turntables
are designed for use with ceiling lifts and
track systems manufactured by
ArjoHuntleigh. We cannot ensure the safety
of a transfer, and we therefore cannot be
held responsible, for any incident that may
occur as a result of the use of tracks or
ceiling lift produced by another manufacturer.
In order to ensure the safety of the patient
and the caregiver, use only products
manufactured by ArjoHuntleigh with this
product.
CAUTION: Always keep components of the
BHM Turntable clean and dry and ensure
that the daily check is carried out before
using the lift as instructed in the “Care and
Maintenance” section.
WARNING:It is unsafe to interconnect this
product with other products not described in
the instruction herein.
Always ensure that:
• The unit is used by trained staff.
• All controls and safety features are used
only as per the rules specied in this
manual. Never attempt to force a control
on the BHM Turntable.
• All labels are read and those that cannot
be easily read are replaced.
• The daily maintenance is carried out
before using the unit.
Shock Prevention
• Do not splash or expose the device to
water or moisture.
• Do not attempt to expose, service or
repair the BHM Turntable. If any unit is
defective, contact your local
ArjoHuntleigh, vendor.
Environmental Advice
When disposing of any items associated with
the product, contact local authorities for
information.
Homecare Environment
Considerations
WARNING: This product contains small
parts that might present a choking hazard
for children if swallowed or inhaled.
WARNING: The BHM Turntable is not
intended to be operated by children. Serious
injuries could occur.
NOTE: Rigorous cleaning actions should be
done when the BHM Turntable is exposed to
an animal. Pet hair trapped inside the device
can reduce the product performance.

How to use the BHM Turntable
Operating the Turntable
1) Move the lift into the centre of the turntable.
CAUTION: Pay attention to pull cords, when
moving the ceiling lift onto or out of the
turntable, to make sure they do not get
entangled.
2) Make sure that the lift is centred with the
turntable. Pull the Turntable’s shortest cord
until the pivoting track is aligned with the
next position.
3)
Note: The mechanism may block if the
ceiling lift is not centered under the turntable
before pulling the cords.
4) Move the lift out of the turntable along the
new path.
5) In case of a malfunction, pull down the
activation arm to unlock the pivoting track,
and rotate the track manually.
6)
WARNING: Take care for not getting injured
by placing your hand or ngers between the
tracks.
Adjusting Pull Cord’s Length
1) If the pull cords are too long, they may be
shortened as follows.
2) Turn the mechanism halfway so that both
cords are of equal length.
3) Cut both cords to equal length making sure
that you leave at least 30 cm (12 in) on each
cord.
4) Insert one knob on each cord and secure it
with a double knot.

Care and Maintenance
PROBLEM TO CHECK
The Turntable does not move
when the cord is pulled.
• Verify that the cord is correctly installed into the
device.
• Try to pull the other cord.
There is a rough transition between
the xed track and the Turntable.
• Verify the gap between the tracks (1 mm to 1.6 mm).
• Contact your local representative.
Preventive Maintenance Schedule
The BHM Turntable is subject to wear and tear, and the following actions must be performed when specied
to ensure that the product remains within its original manufacturing specication.
WARNING: The points on this checklist are the minimum the manufacturer recommends. In some
cases more frequent inspections should be carried out. Continuing to use the BHM Turntable without
conducting regular inspections will seriously compromise the user and resident / patient’s safety.
Preventive maintenance specied in this manual can prevent accidents.
WARNING: Safety related maintenance and authorized service must be carried out by qualied
personnel, fully trained in servicing procedures by ArjoHuntleigh, and equipped with correct tools and
proper documentation, including Parts List and Service Manual. Failure to meet these requirements
could result in personal injuries and / or unsafe equipment.

Initially
Inspect for evidence of external damage or missing parts.
Make sure the lift moves smoothly between the BHM Turntable pivoting track and xed tracks (tracks
are well aligned and space between them is inferior to 1.6 mm [1/16 in]).
Make sure end stoppers of the BHM Turntable are in place and tightened.
Inspect pull cords for wear.
Annual Inspection by an Authorized Technician
The BHM Turntable must be inspected by a qualied ArjoHuntleigh, technician on an annual basis
to ensure the proper functioning of its components, as well as the safety of the patients and care
givers that use the BHM Turntable. Please contact your local representative to make arrangements.
NOTE: If the product does not work as intended, immediately contact your local ArjoHuntleigh,
representative for support.
Cleaning
To clean the BHM Turntable, wipe it down with a damp cloth using warm water and mild detergent.
CAUTION: Do not use phenol, chlorine or any other type of solvent that may damage the
nish.
To ensure a better rolling surface for the trolley wheels, clean the inside of the rail every four
months. To do so, insert a damp cloth in the opening and slide it from one end of the rail to the
other.
