1. General
The Artidor explosion-safe occupancy sensor AR-024 is based on passive infrared
technology and capable of detecting movements of heat sources. Thanks to the wide
opening angle and its 10 m range, this sensor is suitable for monitoring large areas.
The occupancy sensor is designed for use inside large buildings for example warehouses
and combines energy saving and the protection of the environment in addition to convenient
lighting.
Motion sensors switch the light depending on movements and the ambient light. The sensor
itself does not emit any radiation and is therefore called “passive”. Unlike motion sensors,
occupancy sensors can also switch off lighting if there is sufficient daylight, because of their
advanced mixed light measurement (the principle on which occupancy sensors are based).
Do not install sensors near heat sources like air-conditioning units, lights or radiators. The
sensor electronics offers a potential free contact for switching up to 1,150 VA load.
The occupancy sensor is mounted on top a coated aluminum housing. The explosion safety
to gas and dust is arranged by the appliance of protection degrees against ignition
“Increased safety”, “molding” and “protected by enclosure”.

The Artidor AR-024 occupancy sensor is certified in accordance with European Directive
2014/34/EU (ATEX 114) for use in gas or dust hazardous areas and is CE marked.
2. Safety Instructions
The AR-024 occupancy sensor is an explosion-safe product suitable for use
in hazardous areas with explosion hazard from flammable gases, vapors,
mist and dust, classified as Zone 2 or Zone 22.
This manual must be read and understood for safe use of the occupancy sensor. All
warnings and instructions must be followed.
•Installation must be carried out by personnel trained and qualified in explosion safety
taking the instructions mentioned on the equipment and in this manual into
consideration. Local regulations that apply to the installation must be followed.
•Connect this equipment to the supply voltage for which it is designed.
•Isolate electrical power to the occupancy sensor before electrical installation.
•The protection degree against ignition “Encapsulation”, “Increased safety” and
“Protection by enclosure” have been applied to the apparatus. The enclosure may not be
opened if the occupancy sensor is energized.
•Installation of cables may not invalidate the “Protection by enclosure”, therefore only
IP65 cable glands with the a clamping size meeting the cable diameter should be used.
•All unused openings should be plugged off in a properly closed and tight way.
•Either decommission the occupancy sensor or do not use it when it is damaged.
•During installation of the occupancy sensor national safety regulations must be
observed.
•Only use the occupancy sensor under the environmental conditions for which it is
specified. Deviating environmental conditions can contribute to damage to the
equipment and may lead to possible danger to the life of the user.
•Do not use the occupancy sensor at temperatures deviating from the specified ambient
temperature range.
•Follow all instructions written on the equipment and as mentioned in this manual.
•Repairs may only be carried out by the manufacturer or by a person appointed by the
manufacturer.
•Modifications to the equipment or changes to the design are not permitted.
•The product may only be used for the function for which it is designed and shall be
maintained in a good and clean condition.

If these instructions are not followed, the explosion safety of the equipment cannot be
guaranteed. The equipment could then endanger the life of the user and could cause the
ignition of an explosive atmosphere. Consequently, Artidor as the manufacturer will waive
any responsibility.
3. Characteristics
The characteristics of the occupancy sensor can be summarized as follows;

•Coated aluminum housing and adjustable stainless steel mounting bracket.
•Provided with two Ex e cable glands.
•Manufactured on the basis of the European Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX 114).
•Suitable for use in gas and dust hazardous areas classified as zone 2 and 22.
•Explosion safety category and protection degree against ignition applied:

•Protection degree against the ingress of water and dust IP 65.
•Suitable for indoor use.
4. Application
The explosion-safe AR-024 occupancy sensor has been designed for and is suitable for use
in hazardous classified areas due to flammable gases, vapors, mist, fibers and dust.
Because it is explosion-safe and certified on the basis of Group II Category 3GD of the ATEX
Directive it is suitable for use in the following types of zones in explosion hazardous areas:
•for combustible gases, vapors and mist: zone 2
•for combustible fibers and dust: zone 22.

6. Marking
The occupancy sensor complies to the European Directives for EMC and ATEX and implicit
to the Low Voltage Directive. With regard to explosion safety the occupancy sensor has been
designed and manufactured on the basis of the essential health and safety requirements of
European Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX 114) relating to Group II Category 3GD. Harmonized
European construction standards have been applied fulfilling the essential requirements of
the directives. For more details refer to section 6 Technical data and to the Declaration of
Conformity as shown on the last page of this manual.

7. Installation instructions
•Installation of explosion-safe equipment such as this product must be carried out by
personnel specially trained and qualified to do this, following the relevant requirements
of the installation standard EN 60079-14.
•For the installation and use of this product the relevant safety regulations and also the
generally recognized latest state of the technology apply.
•During assembly, care must be taken that the framework, screws and surface are strong
enough to take the weight of the occupancy sensor.
•Isolate power from the electrical supply cable prior to installation.
•Install the connection cable and make sure that it is protected from mechanical and
chemical influences.
•The occupancy sensor offers 8 connection terminals:

8. Operating instructions
All setting can be done by use of the infrared remote control. The settings are explained in
the OEM manual that is supplied with the product.

Mechanical alignment: The detection area is oval shaped. Install the unit in such a manner
that the markings on the housing are positioned in the longitudinal direction of the area to be
monitored. Do not install sensors near heat sources like air-conditioning units, lights or
radiators.
9. Trouble shooting
The functional indicators in the case of the Artidor AR-024 (red and green LED‘s) have
several functions.
Red and green LED indicating self-checking mode (over a period of 60 seconds following
mains‘-supply lock-on)
•Flashing at intervals of 1 second
EEPROM / memory empty
•Flashing rapidly
EEPROM / memory contains information
Red LED as an indicator of status
•Flashing irregularly
Movements are detected within the area of coverage

Sensor identifies bright, light off (dependent upon operating mode)

indicated with a set lag time of 30 minutes.)
10. Maintenance
For the maintenance of the AR-024 occupancy sensor the requirements as stated in
EN 60079-17 apply. If the occupancy sensor is no longer in good condition, very dirty or
damaged, it must be repaired or cleaned immediately. The power supply to the occupancy
sensor must be switched off and may only be restored after the maintenance has been
carried out and approved.
The advised maintenance cycle for this occupancy sensor depends on its specific use and
must therefore be agreed upon with the user for the expected use.
11. Repair
Repairs to the AR-024 occupancy sensor may only be executed by applying original parts
that are assessed, converted and marked by Artidor Explosion Safety B.V. Repairs may only
be carried out by qualified skilled workers who have been trained in accordance with
EN 60079-19. Applying of non-assessed, non-converted, non-marked parts may lead to
injury to persons and damage to equipment.
If non-original parts are used or repairs are carried out in an incompetent manner, the
explosion-safety of the occupancy sensor can no longer be guaranteed. Therefore it is
preferred that the occupancy sensor will be returned to the manufacturer or its representative
for repair.
If the housing is opened care must be taken of the following:
•The housing must not be opened unless power is switched off prior to repair.
•The housing must not be opened unless the area has been known to be non-hazardous.
•If opened, the AR-024 occupancy sensor shall be dismantled in a logical sequence.
12. Removal / re-use
For processing regarding disposal or reuse of the product and its packaging, national
disposal and environmental laws and legislation must be taken into consideration.
Alterations can be made to this user manual without notice.

1. Généralités
Le détecteur de présence Artidor AR-024, destiné aux zones à risque d’explosion, se base
sur la technologie infrarouge passive et est donc capable de détecter des sources de chaleur
en mouvement.
Grâce au grand angle d'ouverture et à une portée jusqu'à 10 mètres, ce détecteur convient
parfaitement aux grands espaces. Le détecteur de présence est conçu pour être utilisé dans
les bâtiments vastes tels que des entrepôts. Il combine les économies d’énergie et la
protection de l'environnement avec un éclairage confortable.
Les détecteurs allument la lumière en fonction des mouvements et de la lumière ambiante.
Le capteur est passif puisqu’il n’émet aucun rayonnement. Contrairement au détecteur de
mouvement et en raison de sa capacité avancée de mesurer un éclairage mixte, un
détecteur de présence éteindra la lumière artificielle lorsque la lumière du jour s’avère
adéquate et suffisante. N'installez pas de détecteurs à proximité de sources de chaleur telles
que des climatiseurs, des luminaires ou des radiateurs.
L'électronique du capteur offrant un contact sans potentiel permet la commutation d’une
charge jusqu'à 1150 VA.

Le détecteur de présence est monté sur un compartiment de raccordement en aluminium
revêtu. La protection contre les explosions (gaz et poussières) est obtenue en appliquant les
degrés de protection antidéflagrants, à savoir «sécurité accrue», «moulage» et «protection
par boîtier».
Le détecteur de présence Artidor AR-024, marqué CE, est antidéflagrant et certifié
conformément la directive européenne 2014/34/EU (ATEX 114).
2. Consignes de sécurité
Le détecteur de présence AR-024 est un produit antidéflagrant conçu pour
une utilisation en atmosphère explosive liée aux gaz, vapeurs, brouillards ou
poussières inflammables, classée ATEX, Zone 2 ou Zone 22.
Lisez le manuel d’utilisation et assurez-vous d’une bonne compréhension. Pour une
utilisation en toute sécurité du détecteur de présence, respectez tous les avertissements et
suivez les instructions.
•L'installation ne doit être effectuée que par des techniciens qualifiés, formés à la sécurité
anti-explosive, en respectant les marquages sur l'appareil, les instructions indiquées
dans ce manuel et les réglementations d'installation en vigueur localement.
•Connectez cet appareil uniquement à la tension d'alimentation pour laquelle il a été
conçu.
•Mettez Le détecteur de présence hors tension avant de le connecter ou de le
déconnecter du réseau électrique.
•Les modes de protection Moulage, Sécurité accrue et Boîtier étanche à la poussière
sont d’application pour le détecteur de présence. Le boîtier ne doit être ouvert lorsque le
détecteur de présence est sous tension.
•Afin de préserver le mode de protection Boîtier étanche à la poussière, seuls les presse-
étoupes IP65 avec une taille de pince correspondant au diamètre du câble pourront être
utilisés.
•Toutes les ouvertures inutilisées doivent être fermées hermétiquement.
•Ne vous en servez pas et mettez-le hors service, si le détecteur de présence est
endommagé.
•Les réglementations nationales de sécurité doivent être respectées lors de la mise en
service du dispositif.
•N'utilisez le détecteur de présence que sous les conditions ambiantes spécifiées. Des
conditions environnementales divergentes peuvent endommager l'appareil et
potentiellement mettre en danger la vie de l'utilisateur.

•N'utilisez pas le détecteur de présence en dehors de la plage de température ambiante
spécifiée.
•Suivez toutes les instructions d'utilisation se trouvant aussi bien sur l'appareil que dans
le présent manuel d’utilisation.
•Les réparations ne seront effectuées que par le fabricant ou par une personne désignée
par ce dernier.
•La modification de l'appareil ou les changements de conception du dispositif, ne sont
pas autorisés.
•Le produit ne doit être utilisé que pour l'application pour laquelle il a été conçu et il doit
être conservé en bon et propre état.
Si les instructions précitées ne sont pas respectées, la protection de l'appareil contre les
explosions ne peut pas être garantie. L'appareil pourrait alors mettre en danger la vie de
l'utilisateur et provoquer l'inflammation d'une atmosphère potentiellement explosive.

4. Utilisation
Le détecteur de présence antidéflagrant AR-024 est conçu et adapté pour une utilisation
dans des zones à risque d'explosion lié aux gaz, aux vapeurs, aux brouillards, aux fibres et
poussières inflammables. Antidéflagrant et certifié selon le groupe II catégorie 3GD de la
directive européenne ATEX, il convient à une utilisation en zones suivantes:
•en ce qui concerne les gaz, vapeurs et brouillards inflammables: zone 2
•en ce qui concerne les fibres et poussières inflammables: zone 22

6. Marquage
Le capteur de mouvement est conforme aux directives européennes CEM et ATEX et donc
implicitement à la directive Basse Tension.
Par rapport au groupe II catégorie 3GD et en ce qui concerne la protection contre les
explosions, le capteur de mouvement est conçu et fabriqué de façon à répondre aux
exigences de sécurité essentielles de la directive ATEX 2014/34/EU. Pour répondre

7. Instructions d'installation
•L'installation d’un équipement antidéflagrant, et donc également de ce produit, doit être
effectuée par un technicien spécialement formé et qualifié, tout en respectant les
dispositions pertinentes de la norme d'installation EN 60079-14.
•Les mesures de sécurité pertinentes ainsi que l'état de l'art technique généralement
reconnu sont normatifs pour l’installation et pour l’utilisation de ce produit.
•Assurez-vous lors du montage que l’ossature, les vis et la base sont suffisamment
solides pour supporter le poids du détecteur de présence.
•Coupez l'alimentation électrique avant l'installation du détecteur.
•Installez le câble de manière à le protéger contre des influences mécaniques et
chimiques.

8. Mode d’emploi
Les réglages peuvent être effectués via la télécommande infrarouge. Pour les paramètres,
nous vous prions de vous référer au manuel OEM fourni. Alignement mécanique: la zone de
détection est de forme elliptique. Installez le détecteur de sorte que les flèches marquées sur
le boîtier pointent dans la même direction que l'axe longitudinal de la zone à surveiller.
Ne montez jamais un détecteur de présence à proximité immédiate d'une source de chaleur
telle qu'un système de climatisation, un éclairage ou un radiateur.
9. Messages d’erreur
Les indications LED de l'Artidor AR-024 (LED rouge et verte) remplissent différentes
fonctions.
LED rouge et verte pour afficher le cycle de contrôle indépendant (pendant 60 secondes
après la connexion au réseau):
•Les LED rouges et vertes clignotent 1x par seconde.
EEPROM / la mémoire est vide.
•Les LED rouges et vertes clignotent 2x par seconde.
EEPROM / la mémoire contient des informations.
LED rouge pour l’affichage de l'état du détecteur:
•La LED rouge clignote irrégulièrement
Les mouvements sont détectés dans la zone d'enregistrement
•La LED rouge clignote 2x par seconde.
Le détecteur reconnaît la présence de lumière, la lumière s’éteint (selon le mode de
fonctionnement défini)
