New Technology Inside
Lookinsideeitherofthesenewampsandyou’ll
see that it looks very different from traditional
amplifiers, without their masses of loose wir-
ing, solder tags, and loads of interconnected
circuit boards.
Thetruth is, youcan't keep makingamplifi-
ers the way people did in the ’50’s. We’ve
learnedalotofmanufacturinglessonsfromour
successfulrangeofARXsignalprocessors,and
we’ve adapted those techniques by putting all
the circuitry on one motherboard, thus reduc-
ing the amount of hand wired links.
This enables fast, accurate assembly, and
means that the whole amplifier can be com-
pletely tested before it gets put into the chas-
sis. Both the SX1500 and the SX3000 use our
SplitSupplyTM powersupplyprotocol,enabling
the drive circuitry to be run on a separate DC
rail to the power circuitry.
The benefits of this layout are lower noise,
greatly reduced IM distortion, and more output
power. And isn't that what we all want?
It Ain’t Heavy, It’s My ARX
Some amplifiers are just designed heavy, be-
cause it takes more time and effort and money
to design them light! Well, here at ARX, we’ve
taken the time and effort andspent the money!
Advanced computer modelling techniques

needed, and to reduce excess weight where
possible.

What about Protection?
We’ve done intensive research into amplifier
protection, in order to design something that
really does work, not something that should
work! Both the SX1500 and 3000 have new
relay switched resettable protection circuits,
plusournewswitchableSoftClipTM circuitwhich
intelligently protects the amp from clipping.
Unlike simple limiting which can cause
harsh distortion of low frequency signals, the
SoftClip circuit keeps the amplifier from hard
clipping without destroying the sound quality,
yet still retaining the dynamics of the music. A
newI/OcomparatorcircuithasfrontpanelLED
displays fortrueClippingindication,aswellas
Signal Present and Bridged mono mode sta-
tus.Fourvariablespeedtemperaturecontrolled
cooling fans pump air through ARX’s propri-
etary ‘UltraFinTM’ heatsink to keep the SX am-
plifiers cool. When the internal temperature
rises, so does the fan speed.

Construction
All steel chassis and front panel, with Lexan front print. Front
panel power switchand level controls. Rear rack mount ears for
four point racking in high stress mobile installations
All the ARX SX series of amplifiers are designed around
'over-specified' Toroidal power transformers and Heavy
duty diode bridges.
To retain dynamic range under even the heaviest load
conditions, the SX series all utilise large multi capacitor
arrays for high peak current outputs.
All models can be switched to run in bridged mono mode.
