2. General operating instructions
- Never attempt to disassemble an actuator.
- Keep hands and other extremities away from moving parts under all circumstances.
(Any such practice may get your hand, arm, or other part of your body caught.)
- Using a positive-pressure gas with our plastic piping may pose a dangerous condition due to
the repellent force particular to compressible fluids even when the gas is under similar
pressures used for liquids. Therefore, be sure to take the necessary safety precautions such
as covering the piping with protective material. For inquiries, please contact us.
- For conducting a leak test on newly installed piping, be sure to check for leaks under water
pressure. If absolutely necessary to use a gas in testing, please consult your nearest service
station beforehand.
- Before using the product, check the operating power supply and the voltage specification on
the nameplate. Using an improper voltage may cause equipment damage or malfunction.
- Do not step on or apply excessive weight on valve. (It can be damaged.)
- Do not use the valve to fluid containing slurry. (The valve will not operate properly.)
- Do not use AV valves in a place where they may become submerged in water.
- Do not apply a great impact or vibration to the actuator.
- The surface temperature of the actuator may rise during operation. This is due to the heat
generated by the internal equipment and is not a malfunction, but do not use it beyond the
allowable range of ambient temperature of -10 to 55°C. (It may cause a malfunction)
- Do not use the valve in conditions where the fluid may have crystallized. (The valve will not
operate properly.)
- Keep the valve away from excessive heat or fire. (It can be damaged, or destroyed.)
- Be careful of the environment where the valve is installed. In particular, avoid places exposed
to salty wind, corrosive gas, chemical solution, seawater, steam, etc.
- Use the valve working pressure, working temperature, ambient temperature within an allowable
range. (The valve can be damaged or deformed by operating beyond the allowable range.)
- Allow sufficient space for maintenance and inspection.
- Select a valve material that is compatible with the media. For chemical resistance information,
refer to “CHEMICAL RESISTANCE ON ASAHI AV VALVE”. (Some chemicals may damage
incompatible valve materials.)
- Keep the valve out of direct sunlight, water and dust. Use cover to shield the valve. (The valve
will not operate properly.)
- Perform periodic maintenance. (Leakage may develop due to temperature changes or over
periods of prolonged storage, rest or operation.)

2. General operating instructions (continued)
- When installing the valve, provide an appropriate support. (Failure to do so may cause
breakage due to excessive force applied to the valve body and pipes.)
- The AV valves must be used within the specifications specifically applicable to the product.
(May not work.)
- If there is a strange odor, heat generation, or smoke, immediately shut off the power supply.
(If you use the product while feeling an abnormality, a fire may occur. If any abnormality is
found, be sure to contact the store where you purchased the product or our nearest sales
office for inspection.)
- Keep the equipment connected to the limit switch (non-voltage contact) for the left open / right
open signal within the contact capacity (1A). (May be damaged.)
- Use a commercially available Allen wrench for manual operation.
- Keep the ambient temperature of the installed location within the range -10°C to 55°C.
- Avoid locations with corrosive gas or otherwise bad atmospheres, install a cover or something
similar that covers the entire area.
- When removing the actuator, be sure to use the "Base plate removing jig". (Failure to so may
cause, damage the Base plate.)
- Regarding the ball valve type, we recommend that you use left fully open or right fully open.
This is because the edge of the ball opening remains on the seat (PTFE) when used at an
intermediate opening, so that the sealing performance temporarily deteriorates at the time of
left fully closing and right fully closing.
- The “P1”, “P2”, “P3” stickers showing the ports are an
affixed to the side of the valve body.
“P1” is the left opening side, “P2” is the right opening
side, and “P3” always shows open side.

3. General instructions for transportation, unpacking and storage
- When suspending and supporting the valve, do not stand under the suspended valve.
- This valve is not designed to handle impacts of any kind. Avoid throwing or dropping the valve.
- Avoid scratching the valve with any sharp object.
- Do not over-stack cardboard shipping boxes. Excessively stacked packages may collapse.
- Do not contact with any coal tar, creosote, insecticides, vermicides or paint etc. (These
chemicals may cause damage to the valve.)
- Store products in their corrugated cardboard boxes. Avoid exposing products to direct
sunlight, and store them indoors (at room temperature). Also avoid storing products in areas
with excessive temperatures. (Corrugated cardboard packages become weaker as they
become wet with water or other liquid. Take care in storage and handling.)
- After unpacking the products, check that they are defect-free and meet the specifications.
- A desiccant (silica gel) is put in the actuator for the purpose of adjusting the humidity. Do
not discard the desiccant, but use it as it is.
- If the indicator of desiccant changes from blue to pink, it's time to replace it. Please contact
the store where you purchased the product or our nearest sales office.

10. Electric wiring procedure
- Do not wire while the power is on. (There is a possibility of electric shock.)
- Do not touch any parts on actuator circuit board or terminal block. (There is a possibility of
electric shock or equipment damage.)
- Do not exceed the rated capacity of contact limit switch.
- Do not connect two or more motor-driven valves in series.
- Do not use the product near high-voltage wire, inverter, or any other equipment that produces
electrical noise or magnetism. (The presence of such nearby may cause malfunction or
breakdown.)
- If you do not wire the signal lines, do not remove the sealing plug that came with the cable
gland.
- Install a switch (or a relay contact) for each motor-driven valve.
- Make sure to ground the earth line. (Electrical leakage could occur, leading to electrical shock,
fire, or other accident.)
- At the working, ensure that your hands are free of water and oil. (There is a possibility of electric
shock or equipment damage.)
- Follow the wiring diagram and wire correctly.
- Check the integrity of wiring insulation before connecting to the actuator.
- Tighten the terminal block with the recommended tightening torque (0.15 to 0.18 N-m) so that
it will not come loose. (There is a risk of electric shock or malfunction)
- Be careful not to let the conductors of the lead wires come into contact with each other. (There
is a risk of short circuit and fire)
-Tighten the cable gland securely with the recommended tightening torque (3 N-m). (There is a
risk of electric leakage or electric shock due to the ingress of rainwater, etc.
-The base cover is sealed with an O-ring. If you remove the base cover and reattach it, make
sure the O-ring is set correctly. (If the seal is insufficient, rainwater may enter the inside of the
actuator, resulting in electric shock or malfunction.)
-When using the product outdoors or in a place exposed to moisture such as rainwater, be sure
to tighten the cable connector of the actuator against the ingress of rainwater and all other
moisture. (Rainwater, etc. may enter the actuator and cause electric shock or malfunction.)
- The actuator supports a free power supply. Use it within the specified source voltage range. (If
it is used with a voltage out of the range, it may not work or it could break down.)
-The contact limit switch does not support minute loads (1mA to 100mA, 5V to 30V, when
connecting to a PLC, etc.) as a standard product, so select an optional product to use.
- Keep the equipment connected to the contact limit switch for the open / close signal within the
contact capacity (1A). (May be damaged)
- The length of the power supply cable to be connected should be 100 meters or shorter. (If the
cable length is longer than 100 meters, the actuator could malfunction.)
- If the distance from the operation panel to the actuator exceeds 100 meters, install a relay
between them. The distance from the relay to the actuator should be 100 meters or shorter.

[Procedure]
1) Remove the bolt cap. (Refer to Fig.10-1. Be careful not to lose the bolt cap.)
2) Loosen the four cover fixing screws by Phillips head screwdriver, and remove the cover.
3) Remove the dust seal and sealing plug from the cable gland, and thread the cable through. (Refer to
Fig.10-2.)
4) Strip cable sheath and lead wire insulator with the electric works knife and wire stripper.
5) Attach rod type solderless terminals to the tips of lead wires with a terminal crimper. To connect them
without using rod type solderless terminals, twist tips of wires not to protrude.
6) Use a Precision screwdriver (Flathead) to connect the Rod type solderless terminal (or the tip of the
lead) to the terminal block with the recommended tightening torque of 0.15 to 0.18 N-m according to
the wiring diagram. (Refer to Fig.10-3. It doesn't matter which of the two ground terminals is used.)
7) Tighten the cable gland with a spanner to the recommended tightening torque of 3N-m to secure the
cable.(Refer to Fig.10-4.)
8) Attach the cover using the "manual operation axis alignment position" as a guide.
9) After tightening the four screws that secure the cover with a Phillips screwdriver, attach the bolt cap.
