PE Series specifications
PE-Series (Protea Enabled) amplifiers are more than just a standard power
amplifier. While the six two-channel models offer an impressive range of
power from 400 to 1900 watts per channel at four ohms, their Ethernet capa-
bilities greatly increase their value in network audio applications.
PE Series amplifiers are high-power, high-efficiency, lightweight amplifiers
incorporating the latest in power and control technologies. Each amplifier
can be controlled and monitored through the built-in Ethernet port using
standard, inexpensive, readily-available Ethernet hardware and Protea NE
Software™. This extremely easy to use software provides you access to many
features, including real time control of input attenuation, channel mute,
channel polarity, and power on/off. The software also allows you to monitor
input level, output level, output current, clipping, protect and temperature.
The ability to either disable the amplifier’s front panel or remote attenuators
or set the maximum level for these controls with the software ensure that
system levels cannot be exceeded by unauthorized personnel.
By adding Ashly’s Protea DSP technology and control to an amplifier, we
have designed a comprehensive and easy to use audio system. Control
anywhere from one to hundreds of amps, as well as Protea Series processors,
on- or off-site with our intuitive and friendly Proteane Software.
PE-Series amplifiers utilize a 2-stage high-efficiency switched mode power
supply providing a high-power-to-weight ratio. All are two rack units high,
weigh less than 24lbs and will drive 2, 4 or 8 ohm loads. Input connections are
via XLR-1/4” Neutrik combo connectors and 6-pin Euroblock. XLR male con-
nectors are also provided for looping to additional amplifiers. Output con-
nectors are locking Neutrik Speakon (NL-4) on all models and 4 position screw
terminal strip with safety cover on models 800 and 1200.
PE Series amplifiers have on-board analog processing including a selectable
subsonic filter, a selectable clip-limiter and an input-sensitivity selector, which
optimizes the amplifier for load and the many devices that can drive it. Addi-
tionally, each amplifier also provides DC voltage control of the calibrated In-
put attenuators, which makes it a snap to control volume from remote loca-
tions, and Remote Power Turn-on/-off with sequential power on/off circuitry
built right into the amplifier.LED indicators for power, standby, protect, bridge
mono, parallel mono and network communications are located on the left
side of the front panel. On the right side, each channel has a four-step signal
meter, temperature and current indicators.
