RAMMER
SAFETY SHEET
(Atlas Copco LT 6005)
PLEASE READ THIS
GUIDE CAREFULLY
BEFORE
OPERATING THE
EQUIPMENT
IMPORTANT - CONDUCT A RISK ASSESSMENT
Before you commence any work at your chosen work area, you should
undertake some preliminary hazard identication and risk control
precautions. Ideally more than one person should do this. This is
undertaken by:
1. Physically inspecting the work site
2. Reviewing the best way/job steps required to complete the task
3. Reviewing the Safe Work Information supplied with the equipment
4. Reviewing other reference documentation and expert advice.
The hazard identication and control process steps are dened as:
1. Identify the Hazards (eg. 240V power drill use around wet areas)
2. Assess the Risk (multi earth paths - possible electrocution)
3. Select the Control Measure (e.g. dry the area; use an RCD; use a
cordless drill etc)
4. Re-assess the Risk (risk of electrocution now negligible). This is
undertaken to ensure that the risk control measures adopted have not
introduced any new risks to the work area.
BEFORE OPERATING THE EQUIPMENT:
• Read this Safety Sheet and any other information provided with the
equipment, including instructions, decals and operation guidelines.
• Check that you understand how and when the use the equipment,
and know how to operate it safely.
• Ensure that it is only used according to the manufacturers and hirer’s
instructions, and only for work that is compatible with its technical
limitations.
• Operate in a clear work area free from nonessential persons, children,
animals or hazards.
• Ensure that you have a secure footing and clear access and egress to
the work area while on the job.
• Do not operate any equipment if you are tired or su󰀨ering any medical
condition, or if under the inuence of drugs or alcohol which may
cause lethargy or dangers to yourself or others.
• Do not use faulty equipment. If in doubt contact Asset Construction Hire.

SAFETY INFORMATION
• Only qualied and trained persons may operate the machine. Beware
of the bulk, weight and power of the machinery.
Fuel & Fire Hazards
• Do not use the machine near ammable materials, fumes or dust.
Ensure there are no undetected sources of gas or explosives. Never
smoke near the machine.
• Avoid contact with the warm exhaust pipe or the bottom of the
machine.
• Never remove the fuel ller cap or ll the fuel tank when the machine
is hot.
• Mix fuel and ll the tank outdoors, or in a clean ventilated space free
from sparks or open ames. Fill the tank at least ten meters from
where the machine is to be used.
Movement Hazards
• Balance your body weight and keep your feet shoulder-width apart.
Hold the machine with both hands. Keep your feet away from the
rammer shoe.
• Never start the machine when it is lying on the ground, and never ride
the machine with one leg over the handle.
Dust & Fume Hazards
• Perform a site-specic risk assessment, as the machine may disperse
dust and fumes which may cause serious respiratory injury or
disease. Control dust and fumes at the source where possible.
• Wear respiratory protection applicable to the substances identied as
hazards. Never inhale exhaust fumes.
• Wear washable and protective clothing.
Projectile Hazards
• Do not allow trespassers into the work zone, and keep the area free
from foreign objects.
Motion & Vibration Hazards
• Adopt a comfortable posture and maintain a secure footing. You may
experience discomfort in the hands, arms, shoulders, neck or other
parts of the body.
• Regular or frequent exposure to vibration can cause injuries and
disorders to machine operators. Discontinue use and seek medical
attention in the case of discomfort, sti󰀨ness, pain, clumsiness or other
symptoms.
• Let the machine do the job, use a minimum hand grip consistent with
proper control and safe operation.
• When the percussion mechanism is activated, your only body contact
with the machine should be your hands on the handle(s).
• Never touch the rammer shoe when using the machine.
Trapping Hazards
• Never touch rotating machine parts.
• Cover long hair with a hair net.
Electrical Hazards
• Never operate the machine near electric wires or electricity sources,
and beware of concealed dangers.
Noise Hazards
• Always use hearing protection and ensure a risk assessment is
implemented.
