Safety Precautions
The descriptions below concern safety and are very important. Read the descriptions carefully and
be sure to follow them.
The instructions presented in this section aim to prevent occurrence of any harm or damage to the
user and other persons by ensuring the user handles the product in a proper and safe manner.
Precautions for possible misuse of the product are categorized in three levels "danger", "warning",
and "caution", so that the degree of harm and damage and that of imminence are clearly
recognized.
For Safe Operation
In this instruction manual, various symbols and pictograms are used in order to prevent occurrence
of any harm or damage to the user and other persons by ensuring the user handles the product in a
proper and safe manner.
Figures and descriptions are presented in this table.
• Understand the figures and descriptions properly before reading the operation descriptions.
• After reading the manual, be sure to keep in an appropriate place which is easily accessible to
operators.
• All descriptions highlighted this way concern safety, be sure to follow them properly.
Danger

Examples of pictograms

When equipment which uses CO2gas is in operation, CO2emission may result in the
absence of oxygen or gas poisoning. Install the equipment in a place which allows
sufficient ventilation. In the case where sufficient ventilation cannot be assured, install a
warning device which works with, for example, CO2or O2meters.
Do not use outdoors. If the product is used in a place which can be exposed to rainwater,
short circuit or electric shock may result.

The product must be installed by your dealer or a certified company. If installed by the
customer, any inappropriate work may result in gas leakage, electric shock, or fire.
The product must be installed horizontally on a floor with sufficient strength for the weight
of the product. Moreover, a measure for preventing the product from toppling must be
taken. If the strength of the installation floor is insufficient or the installation is performed
improperly, toppling of the product may result in a personal injury.
The product must be installed horizontally on a sturdy, level floor, and a measure for
preventing the product from toppling must be taken. If the installation is performed
improperly, toppling or falling of the product may result in a personal injury or other
damages.
The product must not be installed in a humid place or place that can be exposed to water.
Deterioration of the insulation may cause short circuit or electric shock.
The product must not be installed in a place where flammable or volatile substances are
present. Explosion or fire may occur. The product must not be installed in a place where
corrosive gas such as acid is present. Corrosion of the electric components induces
deterioration of the insulation and causes short circuit or electric shock.
To prevent electric shock, use an earth-fitted outlet. If no earth-fitted outlets are available
and grounding is not possible, ask a certified company to perform grounding work.
The grounding wire must not be connected to gas pipes, water pipes, lightning conductor
rods, or the grounding wires for phones. Inappropriate grounding may cause electric
shock.
Connecting the grounding cable to a gas pipe is very dangerous. Be sure that such
connections are never made.
The product must be used only with the rated frequency and voltage indicated on the
rating label attached to the main body. Fire or electric shock may result.
Use the dedicated power supply (alone) that meets the values on the rating label of the
product. If the power supply is shared with other equipment, parts such as the branch
socket may heat excessively, resulting in fire.
Use a power supply with the rated voltage for this product. If an inappropriate power
supply is used, problems such as malfunction of the product or damage to electrical
components can occur, resulting in a personal injury or fire.
Connecting the power cable to a branch socket (overloaded socket) can cause an
accident such as heat generation or fire and is dangerous. Be sure not to make such
connections. Also, even when using an independent outlet, check the power
consumption.
Use the product with a commercial power source (proper voltage). If an inappropriate
power supply is used, problems such as malfunction of the product or damage to
electrical components can occur, resulting in a personal injury or fire.

After removing any dust, firmly and completely insert the power cable plug into the outlet.
If dust stays on the power cable plug or the plug is inserted incompletely, heat generation
and fire may result.
When removing the power cable plug, be sure to hold on the plug body (not the cable).
The power cable may be damaged, resulting in an electric shock or fire due to short
circuit.
Do not use the product with the power cable loosely connected. Fire or electric shock
may result.
Periodically remove the power cable plug, and wipe off dust and dirt which accumulate on
its periphery and the outlet. If the power cable plug is kept connected in a humid place or
a place greatly exposed to oily smoke, for an extended period of time, dust which has
accumulated on the periphery of the plug absorbs humid and fire may occur.
The grounding wire must not be connected to gas pipes, water pipes, lightning conductor
rods, or the grounding wires for phones. Inappropriate grounding may cause electric
shock.
Connecting the grounding cable to a gas pipe is very dangerous. Be sure that such
connections are never made.
Do not touch the electric components including the power cable plug with wet hands.
Also, do not perform switch operations with wet hands. Electric shock may result.
Never use explosive or flammable substances and any materials which contain such
substances. Explosion or fire may occur.
When supplying this product with CO2or N2gas, check the type of the gas, and confirm
that pipe connections have been made properly and no gas leakage occurs. Also, be sure
to use the specified level of pressure. If the specified level of gas pressure is not followed,
explosion, fire, or gas leakage can occur, resulting in gas poisoning or the absence of
oxygen.
Be sure that the pressure supplied for this product does not exceed 0.05 MPa ±0.01 MPa.
If the gas pressure is too high, a problem such as disconnection of the pipe in the product
can occur, resulting in gas poisoning or the absence of oxygen.
When installing and using the product, perform ventilation. Installing and using in a small
sealed room can result in gas poisoning or the absence of oxygen. Also, after opening the
door, be careful not to inhale air remaining in the equipment.
Do not put metal objects such as pins, wire or any other objects into the vent hole or
clearance of the product. Electric shock or personal injury may result.

When handling harmful substances such as toxic, pathogenetic, or radioactive materials,
use the product in a determined remote institution. Mishandling may have adverse
physical effects or harm the natural environment. When asking about maintenance or
repair work, issue a safety verification document, so that the safety of repair personnel
will be ensured.
Before starting cleaning, maintenance work, or inspection, turn off the power and then
disconnect the power cable plug; or turn off the power source. If not followed, electric
shock or personal injury may result.
The product must not be repaired or modified by persons other than certified technicians.
Problems such as fire or malfunction may cause personal injury.
When a problem occurs, turn off the power and disconnect the power cable plug; or turn
off the power source. If the product is kept running with a problem remaining unsolved,
electric shock or fire may result.
The product must be used only with the rated frequency and voltage indicated on the
rating label attached to the main body. Fire or electric shock may result. If the product is
kept running after occurrence of a problem such as generation of smoke or unusual odor,
fire or electric shock may result. Turn off the power switch, and be sure to remove the
power cable from the outlet. Then, contact your dealer or ASTEC.
The service life of this product is seven years after purchase. If the product is used
beyond this period, the safety of the product will not be assured due to factors such as
possible frequent malfunctions, and an accident may be induced. Note that on the
product whose service life elapsed, preventive maintenance does not allow the product to
keep its original performance.
Do not use the product under ambient conditions outside the specified ranges of
temperature and humidity. The original performance of the product cannot be kept, or
malfunction can occur.
Do not place heavy objects or a containers with water on the product. Falling of such
object can cause a personal injury. Also, spilling of water can spoil the insulation of the
electric components, resulting in power leakage and short circuit.
Do not step on the product or place any object on the product. Personal injury may result
due to toppling, damage, or falling.
Do not directly expose the product to water. Electric shock, short circuit, or fire may result.

Do not scratch or damage the power cable or the power cable plug. Stepping on,
modifying, pulling, twisting, or bundling the power cable may damage the cable, resulting
in fire or electric shock.
Route the power cable so that it is not caught accidentally and is not disconnected.
Do not place any object near the outlet, so that the power cable can be immediately
disconnected when needed. If the power cable cannot be immediately disconnected
when a problem occurs on the product, fire or electric shock may result.
When closing the door, hold the handle. If a part other than the handle is held, your
fingers can be caught and injured.
Do not push the glass with your hands, prong the glass with a sharp object, or expose the
glass to strong force. The glass may break, resulting in a personal injury.
When cleaning the inside of the product, wear appropriate gloves. Hitting or touching
parts such as corners of internal components can result in an injury.
While cleaning the product, be careful not to inhale adhered chemicals, steam, or dust.
Inhalation may result in health problems.
While cleaning the product, do not use corrosive chemicals or cleaning agents. The
internal structural objects or electric/electronic components can corrode, resulting in
malfunction.
When cleaning the product, use the specified disinfection solution. Use of an
inappropriate cleaning method or cleaning solution can damage the product and be
harmful to one's health.
Before moving the product, disconnect the power cable plug from the outlet or turn off the
switch of the power source. Deterioration of the insulation may result in electric shock,
power leakage, or fire.
When operating the product, stay in a position which allows a clear view of the operation
panel.
Only substances needed for cultivation (specimen, incubation medium, reagent, etc.)
must be put in the chambers. Unexpected malfunction or contamination can result.
When the product is not to be used for an extended period of time, be sure to disconnect
the power cable from the power source. Deterioration of the insulation may result in
electric shock, power leakage, or fire.
Do not place the plastic bags used for packaging in a location accessible to young
children. If they put the bags over their heads, their mouths and noses may be blocked,
result in suffocation.

In the case where the vibration of the motor becomes extraordinary or an unusual sound
is generated when the product is in operation, immediately stop using the product, and
contact your dealer or ASTEC.
When fertilized eggs are being observed on the Live screen, illumination for observation
is kept On. When performing observation for an extended period of time, take into
account the influence of illumination on fertilized eggs. Cultivation failure or death of
fertilized eggs may result.
The product must not be installed in a place which is subject to radiation. Product
malfunction may result.

Warranty Information
The period of the product warranty by ASTEC is two years after delivery.
If a defect attributed to ASTEC occurs during the warranty period, the product will be repaired or
components will be replaced without any charge.
Note that the warranty will not be applied in the cases below and will not apply to any damage
attributed to factors other than those described in this instruction manual:
Defects or damage caused by factors such as fire, natural disaster, or abnormal
voltage
The product has been repaired, adjusted, or modified in a manner not specified.
Defects or damage caused by mishandling
Defects caused by factors other than this product
Replacement or repair of consumables
The warranty card is not presented.
The warranty card has not been filled in as required.
For after-sales service, contact your dealer.
If any required information is unclear or unknown, contact ASTEC or your dealer.

Points to be Strictly Adhered to
Before starting to use this product, please keep in mind that loss of substances
caused by malfunction of the product will not be compensated by ASTEC.
Perform maintenance work on the PC (personal computer) to be used.
This product is to be controlled through a PC. The product is presumed to be
continuously used, due to its characteristics. Restart the PC once a month at least, so
that the PC will keep working properly and the frequency of failure occurrence will be
minimized.
* While the PC is being restarted, temperature control and gas flow are still performed
if the power to the product is not turned Off.

Points to be Strictly Adhered to

Perform maintenance work on the components such as the driving sections and
camera once a year.
This product is a precision machine which captures images while shifting among
multiple dishes in the unit of µm. Therefore, maintenance work is needed for the
stage sliding section, which shifts the camera. The maintenance work is inspection (or
replacement) of ball screws and cleaning (and grease supplement) of the linear
guides, which serve as rails for sliding. Moreover, after the mentioned
inspection/replacement, comprehensive inspection work is required.
Comprehensive inspection work includes checking the sensor units, camera, CO2
sensor, O2sensor, and temperature control.
For iSNAPS (optional), data maintenance needs to be performed.
The hard disk of iSNAPS and the hard disk connected with iSNAPS have only specific
storage capacity. When accumulating data in the hard disk, marshal files on the hard
disk periodically, for example, every three months. If not followed, malfunction may
result.
For the network-connectable hard disk drive (NAS), data maintenance needs to be
performed.
The network-connectable hard disk drive (NAS) connected with this product has only
specific storage capacity. If the NAS has been set as the storage location at the time
of image capture, a bar which shows the amount of consumed NAS space is shown
at the bottom left of the screen of the product. Marshal files so as to secure as much
empty space as possible. If the total amount of accumulated data becomes large,
image storage failure or product malfunction can result.
Never directly put water on the exterior of this product to clean it. Malfunction (short
circuit) may result.
When using the product, set the temperature to an appropriate value. If an
inappropriate temperature is set or if the set temperature is unintentionally changed,
cultivation failure or death of fertilized eggs can result.
For the product, periodically perform temperature correction and check the gas
concentration indication. If the product is kept running without noticing changes of the
temperature and/or gas concentration indication, cultivation failure or death of
fertilized eggs can result.
On the PC used with this system, do not install applications other than ones installed
by ASTEC. Intended proper operations and performance may not be presented.
For this product, only µDrop GPS culture dishes are usable.
If culture dishes not specified are used, settings may fail or image capture at desired
positions may not be possible.
This product is laboratory equipment. It is not medical equipment and is to be used for
purposes such as research.

Characteristics/Overview of the Product
This product is cultivation equipment presented through integration of a multi-gas incubator for
cultivation of fertilized eggs and a microscopic system for microscopic observation.
For observation, fertilized eggs do not need to be taken out of the cultivation equipment. This allows
a reduction in the stress of fertilized eggs caused by changes of temperature and gas concentration,
risks of overlooking fertilization and other incidents on the images, and other risks attributed to
relocation at the time of observation of fertilized eggs.

Checking the Installation Location
Install the product on a level gantry located on a sturdy, level floor.
For the installation, choose a sturdy, level floor with no bumps. If the product is installed in a
bumpy place or not horizontally, the installation of the product becomes unstable and
malfunction or personal injury can result.
When installing, do not drag the product.
The adjusters of the product are fitted with antivibration rubber to reduce vibration. If the
product is hauled, the antivibration rubber can be damaged. Therefore, be sure to lift and carry
the product.
Location not directly exposed to sunlight
Avoid locations directly exposed to sunlight. If the product is kept running at a location directly
exposed to sunlight, the originally intended performance of the product may not be recognized.
Location away from heat sources
Avoid locations near large heat sources such as a heater, boiler, oven, and autoclave. The
originally intended performance of the product may not be recognized.
Location whose ambient temperature is in the range from 24ºC to 28ºC
If the ambient temperature is too high or too low, the originally intended performance of the
product may not be recognized.
Sufficient empty space needs to be kept around the product.
Each space adjacent to the sides and rear of the product must be 100 mm in length at least.
Location with low humidity
Choose a location where humidity is 80% RH or less. If the product is used in a humid place,
short circuit or electric shock may result.
Location without flammable gas and corrosive gas
Do not install in a location exposed to flammable gas or corrosive gas. Explosion or fire may
occur. Also, corrosion of the electric components induces deterioration of the insulation and
causes short circuit or electric shock.
Location not exposed to falling objects
Avoid a place where objects may fall on the product. Product damage and malfunction may
result.
Warning: The product must be installed on a floor with sufficient strength for the weight of
the product. If the strength of the installation floor is insufficient or the installation
is performed improperly, toppling or falling of the product may result in personal
injury or other damage.
Warning: Do not use outdoors. If the product is used in a place which can be exposed to
rainwater, short circuit or electric shock may result. Do not install in a humid
place or place that can be exposed to water, for example, near a sink or water
tap. Also, avoid a place above which piping for water supply and a sink is
present. Deterioration of the insulation may cause short circuit or electric shock.

Points to Note for Installation
1. Removing packing materials
Remove all product packing materials including plastic bags, drying agents, and tape.
2. Adjusting with the adjusters
At the installation location of the product, turn the adjusters so that the product is installed
horizontally.
3. Grounding
Grounding aims to prevent electric shocks that may result when the insulation has deteriorated.
When installing the product, be sure to perform grounding work. If a grounding wire is not
available at the product installation location, consult with your dealer.
* The power cable of this product is equipped with a ground terminal-fitted 3-prong plug. If a
grounded outlet is available for the product, grounding work is not needed.
* If intending to use the product at a location subject to moisture and humidity out of need,
attaching an earth leakage circuit breaker to the power supply route (power source side of the
product) is recommended. Consult with your dealer when undergoing this work.
4. Connecting the power source
After grounding as described in item 3 above, connect the power cable to the outlet.
* Use a power source with the rated voltage for this product. If the power supply exceeds the
rating, malfunction will occur.
5. Connecting gas
Connect the provided gas hoses to the gas supply ports on the rear of the product, to supply
CO2and N2gas.
When connecting the gas hoses, be careful not to mistake the specified gas types.
Set the supply pressure of each gas so that it will fall within 0.05 MPa ±0.01 MPa. If the setting
is inappropriate, gas control may not be performed properly.

Points to Note for Cleaning
This product was manufactured and stored with extreme care. Nevertheless, the incubation
chambers are expected to be cleaned before the using the product, and the chambers are expected
to be periodically cleaned after the start of use.
Before starting cleaning work, wipe off dirt and dust in the installation area, so that work will be
performed in a clean environment.
If cleaning is insufficient, contamination by bacteria and fungi is highly likely to occur
and cultivation can be adversely affected.
How to clean and cleanse
1. The person who performs cleaning works must wear clean work clothes.
After washing their hands carefully, the person must wear rubber gloves and a medical mask.
2. Spray disinfection solution "00DIH-1000 (1000 ml)" or "00DIH-500 (500 ml)" to the inside of the
incubation chambers and the rear of the small lids and leave for 15 minutes. Then wipe off with
a lint-free cloth such as sterile gauze or non-woven fabric.
3. Spray disinfection solution "00DIH-1000 (1000 ml)" or "00DIH-500 (500 ml)" to the dish holders
and leave for 5 minutes. Then wipe off with a lint-free cloth such as sterile gauze or non-woven
fabric.
4. For the exterior of the product, spray disinfection solution "00DIH-1000 (1000 ml)" or
"00DIH-500 (500 ml)" or moisten a cloth such as sterile gauze or non-woven fabric with the
disinfection solution before wiping off.
Note: Do not use cleaning solution other than the specified disinfection solution.
Depending on the combination of the used cleaning solution, poisonous gas may
be generated.

Setting Dishes
For this product, only µDrop GPS Dish are usable.
1. Set culture dish to dish holder.
Position the culture dish so that the alignment projection on the bottom of the dish fits into the
notch of the dish holder, shown in figure 1.
If this alignment is inappropriate, capture misalignment can occur at the time of image capture.
2. Open the lid of the target incubation chamber while pushing the unlock tab, and then position
the dish holder into the chamber so that it fits into the frame at the bottom of the chamber.

3. Gently close the lid until the latch sounds.
Each lid must be opened and closed gently. Losing hold of a lid when opening or closing
it can cause vibration and may adversely affect the cultivation of fertilized eggs, for
example.

For the setting items, DOWN key , UP key , SILENCE key , and SET key
are to be used for making settings.
[Setting mode]
Press and hold SET for 1 second or longer to move to the setting mode. The setting mode allows to
make settings for temperature, CO2, and O2. If no operations are performed for about 10 seconds in
the setting mode, the normal display mode is restored.
On this product, temperature control is performed
for each incubation chamber.
Each setting and fine adjustment can also be performed
for each chamber.
In this instruction manual, numbers are assigned to the
individual incubation chambers as shown to the right,
and the chambers are referred to as "incubation chamber
1" to "incubation chamber 9" or "ch 1" to "ch 9".
