• Donotcuttheelectricalcable.Ifacablewithcutinsulationorotherdamageissubmerged
inwater,thereisdangerofwaterseepingintothepumpmotorandcausingashort.This
mayresultindamagetothepump,electricalshockorre.Altering the electrical cable in
any way will void the warranty.
• Nevermoveorhandlethepumpbypullingontheelectricalcable.Makesuretheelectrical
cabledoesnotbecomeexcessivelybentortwisted,doesnotrubagainstastructureina
waythatmightdamageit,anddoesnotcomeincontactwithheatedsurfaces.
Operation
• SH-Seriespumpsareforuseinwateronly.Watertemperatureshouldneverexceed
95degreesF.
• SH-Seriespumpsmustnotbeusedtopumpsaltwater,sewage,ammableorcorrosive
liquids,greases,oilsorfoodwaste.
• Paycarefulattentiontothewaterlevelwhilethepumpisoperating.Thepumphandlemust
befullysubmersedatalltimesofoperation.The pump must never be allowed to run dry.
• Incaseofexcessivevibration,unusualnoiseorodor,turnoffthepowerimmediatelyand
consultyournearestdealer.
Motor Protection System
• Thepumphasabuilt-inmotorprotectionsystem.Thefollowingreasonsmaycausethe
pumptostopautomaticallyregardlessofwaterlevel.
-Motoroverheating -Excessivecurrent
-Open-phaseoperationor -Changeinvoltagepolarity
operationunderconstraint
•Repeatingcyclesofstoppingandrestartingwilldamagethewaterpump.Donotcontinue
operationatlowlift,lowwaterlevel,orwhiletheinletiscloggedwithdebris.Notonlywill
performancesuffer,butalsosuchconditionsmaycausenoise,heavyvibration,andpumpfailure.
Maintenance and Inspection
• Regularmaintenanceandinspectionsareanecessityforcontinuedefcientfunctioning.If
anyabnormalconditionsarenoticed,refertothesectiononTroubleshootingandtake
correctivemeasuresimmediately.
Monthly Inspection
•Checkforanydropinperformance.Reducedperformanceisusuallycausedbydebris
blockingthepumpintake.
• Detachthepowercablefromthereceptacleorturnoffthepowersupply(circuitbreaker).
• Disconnectthepumpdischargeandremovethepumpfromthewater.
• Removeanyaccumulateddebrisfromthesurfaceofthepump,inlet andimpeller.
• Donotdisassemblethepumpforanyreason.Disassemblywillvoidthepumpwarranty.
Referoperatingandmaintenanceproblemstoaqualiedtechnician.
Winterizing
• Undernocircumstancesshouldthepumpbeleftinfrozenwater.
• Whenthepumpisoutofuseforanextendedperiod,washitanddryitthoroughly,then
storeitindoors.
