INTRODUCTION
The Audiovox AA·900S is an extremely eHective, state-of-tha-
• art, automotive security system, that's incredibly easyto instaH and
operate. Virtually no mechanical or electrical expertise is required to
perform thebasicsystem installation.
There are three main components to the AA-900S:
The first is an extremely loud warning Siren Modula that is
activated if any attempt is made to vandalize your vehicle. The siren
module has a magneticbase that allows instant mounting on any flat
metalsurface in yourenginecompartmentThesirenmoduleconnects
easilyto your vehicle's battery terminals with sixfeet of wire and
two
"jumper cable type- clamp-on spring clips.
The second major component isthe AA-900S's Sensor/Control
Module which is locatedinside the vehicle'spassengercompartment
The Sensor/ControlModule can be mounted by eitherclipping itonto
the visor
or attaching it to the console or under-dash by means of a
Velcro®strip. The Sensor/Control Module is the actual "brain·ofthe
AA-900S. The Sensor/Control Module will "know·if a door has been
opened or if someone is trying to forceably enter the vehide
by
breaking the glass. When the Sensor/Control Module detects a
break-in. it sends a radio frequency signal activating the warning
siren
in the engine compartment. The Sensor/Control Module is
extremely easy to connectbecause in most cases it simply plugsinto
·,
your vehicle's cigarette lighter•
The third component in the system is the Remote Keychaln
Transmitter. This transmitterremotely armsand disarmsthesecurity
system from
up to 1S feet away by transmitting a radio frequency
signalto the Sensor/Control Module. This smallkeychain transmitter
also acts as a"panicswitch-which.will remotely activate the siren by
simply holding down the transmitter button for approximately three
seconds. Although we hope you never have to use it, the
panic
feature adds another dimension of safety on alate night walk to your
carthrough a deserted parking lot. .
We have touched on a few of the majorcomponents of the AA-
9005 in this introduction. There are. however, many more detailed
descriptions
of features, installation instructions and operating
procedures
in this owner'smanualthat will enhance the performance
of your new security system and increase your protection. Please
take the time necessary to read through this manual to derive the
maximum benefit from
your investment. .
It is also important that you turn to the inside back cover of this
manual
and record thethreecode numbers (printedonwhitestickers)
found
on the bottom of the Sensor/Control Module. These numbers
will be very important should you lose a remote transmitter. the
Sensor/Control Module
or a security ONIOFF key. You wm find two
places
to record these numbers, one will remain attached to this
manual
and the otherwillbeon awalletsize. reference, andsummary
of operation card.

MOUNTING COMPONENTS
MOUNTING THE SIREN MODULE •
The siren moduleis mounted in the enginecompartment by oneof
two methods
.•. with a magnet based bracket, or with the magnet base
removed and the bracket screwed directly to the vehicle.
MAGNET MOUNT MEDiOD
1. Open the vehicle's hood and locate a smooth, flat steel surfaca
awayfrom heat and moving parts. Try tochoose a surface where
the magnetcreatesastrongbond tothe metalsurface.Thesurface
should be tree
of dirt. rust, sprayed -on coatings etc.. Be sure the
location
is within 5 feet of the vehicle's battery so that the Siren
Module's (1) power cables will reach the battery terminals easily.
2. Attach the Siren Module (3) to theSirenMountingBracket (4) with
the two knurled thumb screws as shown in figure (1).
3. When mounted in ~s bracketthe Siren Module is capable ofa 180
degreeswing to allowfordifferentmountingpositions. It isimportant
to position the siren module
so that the open end of the hom is
pointing downward to prevent it from collecting water.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Once the SIren Module assembly seems firmly attached by
the magnetic base, YOU MUST then connect the strain relief
cable attached to the Siren ModUle (1). Find some secure
. fixture located nearby (such as an existing harness bott etc.)
and
screw down the strain relief cable through the ring
connector or connect with wire ties provided. See figure (2)

MOUNTING SIREN BRACKET Willi SCREWS
1. Open the vehicle's hood and locate a suitable mounting position
for the Siren Module (3) away from heat and moving parts. Since
you will be securing the bracket with screws, be sure to check
behind the intended mounting area to insure that you will not be
piercing the outer fender wall or any hoses, duct worX.or wire .
hamesseswith your dnll or bracketmounting screws. Be sure the
location
IS close enough to the vehicle's battery so that the Siren
Module's (3) power cables will reach the battery terminals easily.
2. Removethe magneticbasefromtheSirenMounting Bracket(4) by
removing the center nut and bolt assembly which retains the
magnet
3. Afterremoving themagnet.position the mountingbracket (4) inthe
selected mounting position. It is important to position the Siren
Module bracket so that (when mounted in position) the open end
of the siren's horn will be pointing downward to prevent it from
collecting water.
4. Using the two mounting
brac!<et holes as a template, dnll two
1181101es into the mounting location and secure the bracket (4)
with
two small screws from the hardware bag (10).
5. Attach the Siren Module (3) to the Siren Mounting Bracket (4) with
the
two- knurled thumb screws. Remember to keep the horn
opening pointing downward.

MOUNTING THE SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE
The SensortControl Module (1)' is mounted in the vehicle's
passenger compartment It can be mounted by means of a snap-on
visor dip to the passenger side sun-visor or alternatively the module
may be mounteddirectlyto the canterconsole or lowerdashby means
of self-adhering Velcro® pads (9) supp6ed in the kit. It is not
recommended to mount this module on top of the dash. in direct
sunlight as high temperatures may damage the unit. Referto GeneraJ
Specifications section.
SUN-VISOR MOUNTING METHOD
1. Attachthe visormounting dip (2)to the Sensar/Control Module(1)
by snappingthe tabs on theclipintothe grooves on thesides of the
SensorlControl Module (1) as shown in figure (5). Be sure to
positionthe clip on theflat. batterycompartmentsideofthe module
(1) withthe visor dip opening facing towardthe front (narrow end)
of
the module.
2. Once it is attached tothe Sensor/Control Module(1) sfidetheopen
end of the visor clip (2) onto the passenger's side sun-visor. over
the edge of
the visor closest to the windshield.Choose a visor
location where you havethe ability to see allthree status indicator
LE.D. fights and where you easily have accass to the ON/OFF
keys witch area

CONSOLE OR UNPER-DASH MOUNTING MEJtIOD
1. Locate the 2.5-x2.5- Velcro®pads (9) supplied with the kit.
2. Stickthe pads together keeping all the edges lined up as closely
as possible.
3. Removethe protectivepaperfrom the adhesive
on one side ofthe
Velcro® "sandwich-.
4. Position and stick the Velcro®
pads over the center of the flat
(batterycompartment)sideontheSensor/ControlModule(1). See
figure,(6)
CAUTION: 00 not stick the pads onto or over the battery
compartment doo.( or over the small white labels with your
transmitter code numbers on them.
5. Choose a location on theconsole orunderyour dashboard where
you have the ability to see all three status indicator LED. lights
andwhere you easilyhave accassto
the ON/OFFkeyswitch area.
6. Remove the protective paper
from the remaining side of the
Velcro®pad"sandwich-stillattachedto the Sensor/ControlModule
(1), and stick the module to the chosen dash location.
NOTE: Be sura that the mountIng area Is clean and dry to
Insure proper adhesion.

WIRING THE COMPONENTS
WIRING THE SIREN MODULE
. Wiring the Siren Module (3) is very simple. Proceed as follows:
1. Exiting the rearofthe Siren Module (4) locate the sixfoot Red and
Black twin lead with the two Red and Black "jumper cable- type
clamps on the end.
2. Route this wire toward the vehicle's 12 volt main battery, being
careful to keep it awayfrom hot areas and moving engine parts.
If
possible follow existing wiring harnesses toward the battery.
3. It will be necessary to secure this wire with several cable ties
provided in the hardware bag (10) in orderto keep it
in place.
4. Once you have reached the battery location securely clamp the
Red clipto the (+) positive side of the battery and securely clamp
the Black
dip to the (-) negative side of the battery.
CAUTION(1): Be sure that the exposed metal surfaces on the
clips do not touch any other meta I surfaces besidethebattery
terminals. Be sure that the battery terminals are clean and free
of corrosion. Check that there Is a fuse In the fusholder
located on the Red wire Just behind the Red battery cllp_
CAUTION(2): Verify
that the battery cll ps will not bedislodged
or be touching any metal surfaca when the hood Is closed.
WIRING THE SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE
Therearetwo methodsforconnectingpower to the Sensor/Control
Module.The first and easiest is with the cigarette lightercurly cord (5).
If you donotwish to tie up the vehicle's c;igarette lighter, orthecigarette
lighter loses power when the ignition switch is shut off, then you will
haveto hardwirethe Sensor/Control Module
to the fuseboxwith the six
foot length of cable supplied for this purpose (6).

CIgarette lighter Method
1. Verifythatthecigarette fighteroperateswiththe ignitionkey "OFF".
If it does not, refer to hard wire method below
2. Locate the cigarette lighter curly cord (S) supplied in the kit•
. 3. Plug the small female pinplug onthe end ofthe curly cord into the
hole on the side of the Sensor/Control Module marked DC12V.
See figure (8)
4. Plug the other end of the curly cord into your vehicle's cigarette
lighter recepticaL
Hard WireTo Euseblock Method
1. Locatethe 6 foot Red and Blacktwin lead with asmall female pin
plug on one end and two bared wires on the other
end (6).
2. Plug the small female pin plug on the end of the twin lead intothe
hole on the side
of the Sensor/Control Module marked DC12V.
See figure (9)
3. Leaving a small amount of slacknearthe Sensor/Control Module,
route the twin lead toward the fuse block, conceanng the wire
whenever possible behind interior trim
or under the dash. Be
careful not to let the wire interfere with any moving mechanical
parts such asventrods,thesteering mechanism,orthebrake,gas
or clutch pedals.
4. When you reachthe fuse block conned the Red wire to aconstant
12 volt supply. (This 12volt supply must remain 'hor even when
the ignition key is in the OFF position.)
S. Connectthe Blackwire to asolid metal surface using thecrimp-on
blue ring terminal provided. Verify it's a good ground connection.
NOTE: Making the connections to the vehicle's fuse .block
may ~e beyond the technical understanding of the average
consumer. If you have any questions concerning this
procedure please consult a qualified automotive technlclan.

SYSTEM SET-UP AND ADJUSTMENTS
TuRNING THE SYSTEM ON
Before we can discuss the operation and adjustments of the M-
;J005 the Siren Module and the Sensor/ControlModule must ba turned
In.
fumIng On The SIren Module
1.
locate the protective rubber switch cover on the backof the Siren
Module (4).
2. Remove thecover(but do not discard) to exposethe Siren Module
power switch.
3. Sfide
the switch to the ON position and then re-insert the rubber
plug to prevent water retention. See figure (7)
4~ Assuming you have made the proper connections to the vehicle's
battery asdescribed under.':ComponentWiring" the Siren Module
should now be energized.
'umlng On The Sensor/Control Module
1. locate oneofthe small tubular Control Module ON/oFF keys (9).
2. Insert the key into the security key-switch located on the Sensorl
Control Module (1) and turn to the ON position. See figure (10)
3. Find one of the Remote keychain transmitters (8) and keep it
handy.
l. Assuming the Siren Module is energized you should hear one
-chirp· from the siren indicating that the system has baen armed.
Youwill also noticathatthe green LE.D. on the frontoftheSensor/
Control Module will steadily illuminate. indicating thatthe module
is energized.
The red LE.D. will also start flashing when the key
switch is first turned on, indicating that the alarm is armed.

5. Beforecontinuing anyfurther.thealarm systemmustbedisarmed.
6. FlOd the remote keychain transmitter and depress the button.
7. Thesiren should -chirp-twotimes and the red
LE.D. inoJCator on
the Sensor/Control Module should turn off indicating that the
system is now disarmed.
ArmIng And DIsarm
Ina Test With The Kevchaln Transmftters
You should now check the operation of each of the keychain
transmitters as follows:
1.
Exit the vehicle making sure to close an doors, trunk and hood.
2. Test one keychain transmitter at a time. Depress the transmitter
button momentarily and you should hear the siren ·chirp"
onca
indicating the system is armed. Pressthe button once again and
you should hear multiple chip indicating the system is disarmed.
3. To test the ·Panic·feature. hold the transmitter button down
for
approximately 3 seconds and the siren should start to sound
continuously. Depressthetransmitterbuttonagain. The siren will
stop sounding and you will hear multiple chirp indicating that the
alarm is again disarmed.
4. Repeat steps 2and 3totestthe operationofthe second keychain
transmitter.

Adlustlng The Voltage Sensor Sensitivity Circuit
One of thefeaturesofthe M-9005 is ~s abilityto mon~or changes
in voltage caused by the illumination of a right bulb when opening a
door, trunk. hatch or hood.There is asensitivityadjustment on the side
of the SensorlControlModule (1) toadjustthe levelofvoltage variation
it takes to adually triggerthe alarm. For instanceyou wantthe alann to
trigger if a thief opens the door and the dome light comes on but you
wouldn't want your electric doc1< to set the alarm off. To adjust the
current sensor do the following:
1.
Sit insidethe car with all the doors, trunk. hatch and hoodclosed.
Chad< to make sure no fights in the vehicle are illuminated.
2. Locate the voltage sensor adjustment screw on the side of the
Sensor/Control Module (1). See figure (10)
3. Gently turn the screw counter-clockwise until you feel it stop. Do
not force the control beyond this point!
4. Armthesystem with the remote keyChain transmitter(depressthe
button, the siren will'chirp' once).
5. Gently open a door andverifythatthedomelightilluminates. If the
siren sounds, nofurtheradjustmentsare necassary.Stopthesiren
by depressing the button on the keychain transmitter once again.
6. If the siren-does not sound, disarm the system, advance the
voltaget sensor adjustment SCtew about one-eighth of a turn
clockwise, arm the system, and gently open the
door again.
7.
Keep repealing this process until the siren sounds when the door
is
opened and the dome fight illuminates.

8. IMPORT~ Unfortunately some vehicles also have elec
"atter-fans- which may trigger false alarms
with the M-90C
voltage sensing circuitry. If this occurs the voltage sensing on
must be by-passed accor~ing to the following procedure:
a. Shut off the Sensor/Control Mcxfule (1) by inserting a tubl
sect/r~ ket (8) into the security key-switch located on .
"wedge-side of the Module, and turn to the OFF position.
b. Unplug the power lead from the Sensor/Control
Module c
remove the module from its mounted position.
c. Loca1e the battery compartmentcover on the "flat'" side of 1
Sansor/Control Module (1) as shown in figure (12).
d. Slide the battery compartment cover
off the module a
remove the back-Up battery.
e. Locate the Orange wire loop in the battery compartment.
f. Cut thisOrangewire looptodisablethevoltage sensing eire
g. Return the back-up battery into its compartment and rep/a
the battery compartment door.
h. Ra-mount the Sensor/Control Mcxfule to its
original positic
re-connactthe powerplug, and tum the security key-switch
the ON position.
NOTE: The voltage sensing capability of this system is nc
disabled and all voltage sensing features are inoperative.

1. Locate the shock sensor adjustment screw on the side

2. Gentlyturn the screw counter-clockwise unt~ you feel it stop. Do
not force the control beyond this pointl
3. Step outside the vechicle and
dose all doors, trunk. hatch and
hood.

Arming The System
1. Exit the vehicle and
dose all doors, trunk. hatch and hood.
2. Depress the button on your remote keychain transmitter and
observethe following:
a. The siren will "chirp· once togive you an audible confirmation
that the system is armed.
b. The red LE.D. on the front of the Sensor/Control Module will
begin to flash, indicating that the system is armed.
Disarming The System
1.
Upon retuming to the vehicle ~epress the button on your remote
keychain
transmitte~ and observe the following:
a. The siren will "chirp" to give you an audible confirmation
that the system has been disarmed.
b. The red LE.D. on the front of the Sensor/Control Module will
stop
bUnking, indicating the system is disarmed.
Using The Remote PanIc E$atu(f~
1. The panicfeature will operate regardless of whetherthe alarm is
in the armed-mode
or the disarmed mode.
2. To activatethe remotepanicmode simply holddownthebuttonon
your remotekeychaintransmitterforapproximately3secondsuntil
the siren begins to sound.
3. To deactivate the remote panic mode momentanly depress the
keychaintransmitterbutton.The sirenwill stopsounding and chirp
to let you know the system is disarmed.

To preventtampering with the system both the Siren Module,

PROCEDURES
SIren Module Built-In Back-yp Battery
The Siren Module (3) has a built-in, rechargable back-up battery that
3110ws the system to function and the siren to sound, even if a thief
'saches up underthe hood and disconnects the siren's battery clips.
This built-in battery.re-charges directly from the vehicle's main power
;ource andhasbeen designedformanyyears of dependableoperation.
This batteryisnotconsumerreplaceable.
If yoususpedthatthisbattery

not operational consult your dealer or authorized warranty station.
[ransmltter Battery Replacement
f the alarm system does not activate or.disarm when using the
ransminer; or
if operation becomes erratic; or if the small light on the
ransminerbecomes
weak or goes out then you will have to replace the
ransminer's battery as follows:
1. Unsnap the transmitter cover at the end opp::Jsite the keychain,
using a coin
or flat blade.
2. Install a new 1-2 volt Type GP23A battery noting the (+) and (-)
marks etched in the batlery area of the transmitter.
3. Replace the transmitter cover using care notto damage the small
red LED.

Your Sensor/Control Module (1) has a built-in. replaceable 9 volt
battery.Thisbattery allowsthesystem to remainoperational evenifthe
power is removed from the Sensor/Control Module by unplugging its
external power source.
NOTE: Cara must be taken to tum "OFF" tha Sensor/Control
Module with the tubular security key (8) Ifthe module Is unplugged
from the vehlcla's maIn power source or removed for storage.lf-

To replace the transmitter's battery proceed as follows:
1. Shut off the Sensor/Control Module
(1) by inserting a tubular
securityket(8) into the security key-switch located on the "wedge"
side of the Module. a"nd tum to the OFFposition.
2. Unplug the power lead from the SensortControl Module and
remove the module from its mounted position.
3. Locate the battery compartment cover
on the "flat" side of the
Sensor/Control Module (1) as shown in
flQure (12).
4. Slide the battery compartment cover off the module and remove
the
bacl<-up battery.
5. Replace
t.he old battery with a new alkaline 9-volt battery.
6. Return the
bacl<-up battery into its compartment and replace the
battery compartment door.
7. Ra-mount the Sensor/Control Module
to its original pashion, ra-
conn ect the powerplug. and turn the securitykey-switch to the ON
position.

PossibleSolution
Verifythatthepowerswitchon boththe Sensor/ControlModule
and'the Siren Module are turned on. Check that the Sensor/
Control Module'sgreenpowerindicatorlightis nJurninated. If it
is not,cheCkthe 12 voltsupplycable (eitherthecigarettelighter
or the hard wire cord) at both ends to be sure it is making the
properconnection. Also check the 1 amp fuse located inside
thecigarette fighter adaptorplug byunscrewingthe front of the
plug assembly as shown in figure (13). If the Sensor/Control
Module losescontactwithyourvehicle's 12 volt supply for any
extended length of time, and the system ison, it will drain the
internal, 9-volt battery and the system will cease to function.
Another possibility is that the remote transmitter's battery is
weak or dead. Try your second transmitter and see if you
experiencethesameproblem. Refertopage 15forTransrnitter
Battery Replacement instructions. .
Open the vehicle's hood and verify that there is a solie
electrical connection between the vehicle's battery terininal~
and the clips supplying powerto the Siren Module. Verify tha
the Siren Module's Powerswitchisinthe "ON"position. Chec!
to see that the red clip is on the positive (+) terminal and thr
black Clip is onthe negative (-) tenninal. Checkthe 4 amp fus:
in-line with the red power wire (located just behind the r91
battery cfip) leading to the Siren Module, to be sure it i
operational.
