1. PRESENTATION
Carolift 40 is a wheelchair hoist with a lift capacity of 40 kg, designed for installation in vehicles.
The hoist has an articulated arm that folds towards both sides. This feature enables the wheelchair to

narrow rear door openings or behind wide bumpers.
The rotating movement is made manually

2. SAFETY REGULATIONS
The contents of these instructions must be read and understood before the product is
taken into use. Keep the instructions easily accessible for further reference.
If Carolift is altered, rebuilt or used for other purposes than intended, Autoadapt AB
denies any liability.
Installation and repair of Carolift must, for safety reasons and for warranty conditions,
be made by Autoadapt AB or by a workshop authorized by Autoadapt AB.
Make sure the lift belt is not twisted when retracted on the reel.

3. HOW TO USE CAROLIFT 40
Erecting and folding the hoist
2. To fold the hoist press the catch at the base.
Grab hold of the hoist arm to prevent it from falling


It can also be placed leaning on the loaded wheelchair.
1. To erect the hoist just pull it up until it is locked in an
upright position.
Remove the hoist
1. If the hoist is not needed it can easily be removed by
just lifting it out from its holder on the base.

Loading the wheelchair
1. Erect the hoist and rotate it outwards. Place the
wheelchair in a suitable position for hoisting it up.
Carolift 40 can pick it up either from the pavement by
the side of the vehicle or from behind.

2. Drive down the lift belt by pressing the toggle switch
on top of the lift arm.
Hook the wheelchair to the lifting device.

3. Press the toggle switch to lift the wheelchair until it
has reached slightly above the vehicle theshold.
4. Rotate the hoist towards the luggage compartment
and fold the hoist arm inwards to let the wheelchair
pass through the rear door opening.
5. Lower the wheelchair in a suitable position in the
vehicle.

Fold down the hoist on top of the wheelchair according
to the instructions ”Erecting and folding the hoist”

Unloading the wheelchair
1. Erect the hoist and make sure that the lift belt is
hooked to the wheelchair.
Lift up the wheelchair, by pressing the toggle switch,
until it can pass freely over the threshold.
2. Turn the hoist arm outwards and guide the wheel-
chair past the rear door opening to a suitable position
for lowering.
Lower the wheelchair to the ground by pressing the
toggle switch. Unhook it.


4. MAINTENANCE
4.1 Check-up
If the lift belt is showing signs of tear and wear it
must be replaced by a new.
4.2 Fuse
The hoist has a 10 A fuse that is placed either on
the cable by the plug to the electricity socket or on
the cable just before the connection to the vehicle
battery.
4.3 Lift belt
The lift band shall be replaced every four years.
4.4 Cleaning
Use a vacuum cleaner with a thin nozzle to clean
the hoist base and its cavities.
Use a moist towel to clean from dirt etc.
Symptom Cause Measure

a) The lift belt has been jammed and caused
the fuse to blow.
b) End position is reached.
c) The electricity plug is not connected (applies
for installations via the compartment socket).
d) Vehicle battery is discharged
e) A short circuit has caused the fuse to blow.
Remove the motor and rewind the lift belt
evenly. Replace the fuse.
Activate in reversed direction.
Plug the cable in the socket.
Charge the vehicle battery.
Contact the autorized workshop.
The hoist is working
unusually slow.
Vehicle battery is discharged. Charge the vehicle battery.
In case of an emergency: Try to start
the motor and let the motor run while
unloading the wheelchair.
