Installing a CTM
Replacing the SD card in an S6L CTM consists of the following
steps:
• Removing the CTM
• Replacing the CTM SD Card
• Reinstalling the CTM
• Confirming Installation
Removing the CTM
To remove a CTM:
1Put on your anti-static wrist band and configure it according to
its instructions.
2Power off your S6L control surface, and disconnect any power
cables attached to it.
3Place a foam pad or other soft material on top on the Channel
Knob Module just below the CTM.
4Using a 2.5 mm hex wrench, remove the six mounting screws
that secure the CTM or the CTM fill panel to the control sur-
face.
Set the screws aside to use later when you reinstall the CTM.
5Press the suction cup to the lower part of the surface of the
CTM so it adheres to the screen.
If you will be installing the updated CTM into a different po-
sition or different S6L control surface, you must unclaim the
module before removing it. See the Channel Touch Module
Installation Guide and follow its instructions for unclaiming
a module (before removing it) and assigning it (after it is in-
stalled into a new bay or different S6L control surface.

6Holding the suction cup with one hand and the CTM with the
other hand, carefully pull the CTM away from the control sur-
face and gently pull the suction cup outward to remove the
screen only enough to expose the connectors at the bottom of
the CTM.
• Place the CTM face-down on top of the foam pad.
• Locate the two cables connected to the bottom of the CTM
(a two-pin power cable and an RJ45 Ethernet cable). Press
the tabs on the cables to disconnect them.
7Set the CTM on a padded table or other work area.
8Remove the suction cup by gently pulling its tab.
9Proceed to “Replacing the CTM SD Card” on page 2.
Replacing the CTM SD Card
Replacing the CTM SD card requires the following steps (de-
tailed below):
• Disassembling the CTM
• Removing the installed SD card
• Installing the new SD card
• Reassembling the CTM
Disassembling the CTM
After removing the CTM from the console, remove the CTM
back cover.
To remove the CTM back cover:
1Using a 5.5mm (7/32-inch) Hex driver, remove the nine (9)
M3 hex nuts that secure the perforated CTM back cover.
2Gently push the CTM back cover towards its power and RJ45
connectors as shown below, then lift the back cover away from
the CTM.
3Set the back cover aside.

Removing the Installed SD Card
To remove the installed SD card:
1Orient the CTM as shown below, with the top of the CTM
closest to you.
2Locate the currently installed SD card. If necessary, carefully
move the cable out of the way as shown below.
3Using a finger, carefully push the SD card straight in to release
its latch.
4Using a pair of small long-nose pliers, slowly pull the card out
of the CTM. Keep the card horizontal while removing it.
Installing the New SD Card
After removing the original SD card, install its replacement card.
To install the new SD card:
1Using a pair of small long-nose pliers, hold the new SD card
with the contacts facing up (the same orientation as the card
you removed), align the SD card with its socket and gently
push it part of the way into its socket. Keep the card horizontal
so it remains parallel with the circuit board.
2After the card is half way in, release the pliers and set them
aside.
3Using a finger, gently push the new SD card the rest of the way
into its socket. Make sure it seats correctly and that its latch en-
gages, indicated by a click sound.
Reassembling the CTM
After installing the new SD card, do the following to reassemble
the CTM.
1If necessary, return the cable you moved out of the way earlier
to its original position.
2Place the back cover on the CTM, making sure it is oriented
correctly and that no cables are caught under the edge of the
back cover.
3Push the back cover towards the side with the power and RJ45
connectors, so that it aligns with the mounting holes in the
CTM.
4Using a 5.5mm (7/32-inch) Hex driver, reinstall the nine (9)
M3 hex nuts to secure the back cover to the CTM.

3Inside the console, locate the two CTM cables (a two-pin
power cable and an RJ45 Ethernet cable).
4Connect the two-pin power connector to the left port on the
CTM and RJ45 Ethernet connector to the right port. Make sure
that the tabs on the connectors face up.
5Place the top edge of the CTM underneath the lightbar, then
place the rest of the CTM into position, making sure the edges

using the 2.5 mm hex wrench.
7Proceed to “Completing Installation” on page 4.
Completing Installation
To confirm installation:
1Power the control surface and engine on.
If necessary, a software update for the newly installed CTM
SD card begins automatically, and is indicated on the CTM.
2If the system prompts you to restart, follow the instructions
on-screen.
3When the software update is complete, Meters view appears
on the CTM.
4Shut down your system by doing the following:
• Put your system into Config mode.
• Go to the Options > System page.
• Select Shutdown, then select Shut Down again to confirm.
5Power down your control surface and engine using the
back-panel power switches.
