This quick introduction shows you the possibilities for deploying and operating
the FRITZ!Powerline510E Set. Comprehensive information is presented in the
PDF manual available on our website at en.avm.de/service.
With the FRITZ!Powerline510E Set you can transmit data over the electrical
wiring in your household at gigabit speeds. Via this connection your network
devices can conveniently exchange data, and can access your home network
and connect to your internet router.
To launch operation, insert the FRITZ!Powerline devices in any outlets and
connect them with your FRITZ!Box, your computer and other network devices
– that’s all.
With the AVM FRITZ!Powerline software you manage your powerline network
and can view detailed information about connections.
As the FRITZ!Powerline 510E Set is preconfigured and encrypted upon delivery,
it is ready for immediate use.

Optimizing the Data Rate
A powerline network is influenced by many factors. With the following steps
you can contribute to an optimal data rate in your powerline network:
Insert powerline devices directly into wall outlets and avoid using
multi-outlet strips.
If you can’t avoid using multi-outlet strips:
–Use a multi-outlet strip without surge protection.
–Connect as few devices as possible to the multi-outlet strip.
–Insert your powerline device in the first socket, directly at the cable.
If you cannot avoid using a multi-outlet strip with surge protection, then
the surge protection should be located behind the powerline device.
The data rate in a powerline network drops for:
–a connection over multiple phases
–a connection has to pass through a junction box, a circuit breaker, a
dimmer or ballast units
–use of a power drill or a vacuum cleaner
Attempt to minimize these influences.
The quality of your powerline network can also be optimized using the AVM
FRITZ!Powerline software (see page 9).

Setting Up the Powerline Network
1. Plug two FRITZ!Powerline 510E devices into any outlets in your home.
2. Connect your FRITZ!Box to one FRITZ!Powerline 510E, and your computers
or other network devices to the second FRITZ!Powerline 510E using the
LAN cables.
3. The powerline network is established, automatically encrypted, and can be
used immediately.

Expanding the Powerline Network
1. Plug the new powerline device that is to expand the network into an elec-
trical outlet.
2. The connect button on the new powerline device for one second to set up a
new connection (see the documentation of the new powerline device).
Within two minutes:
Press the “Security” button on a FRITZ!Powerline 510E in the existing
powerline network and hold it down for one second.
3. The new powerline device is connected with the powerline network and
can be used immediately.

Die Datenrate optimieren
Ein Powerline-Netzwerk wird durch viele Faktoren beeinflusst. Mit folgenden
Schritten können Sie zu einer guten Datenrate in Ihrem Powerline-Netzwerk
beitragen:
Stecken Sie Powerline-Geräte direkt in Wandsteckdosen und vermeiden
Sie den Einsatz von Mehrfachsteckdosen.
Wenn sich der Einsatz einer Mehrfachsteckdose nicht vermeiden lässt:
–Verwenden Sie eine Mehrfachsteckdose ohne Überspannungsschutz.
–Schließen Sie möglichst wenige Geräte an der Mehrfachsteckdose an.
–Stecken Sie Ihr Powerline-Gerät in den vorderen Steckplatz direkt am
Kabel.
Wenn sich der Einsatz einer Mehrfachsteckdose mit Überspannungsschutz
nicht vermeiden lässt, sollte sich der Überspannungsschutz hinter dem
Powerline-Gerät befinden.
Die Datenrate im Powerline-Netzwerk sinkt bei:
–einer Verbindung über mehrere Phasen
–einer Verbindung über eine Verteilerdose, über einen FI-Schutzschal-
ter, einen Dimmer oder Vorschaltgeräte
–Einsatz einer Bohrmaschine oder eines Staubsaugers.
Versuchen Sie, diese Einflüsse zu minimieren.
Optimieren Sie die Qualität Ihres Powerline-Netzwerks mit dem Pro-
gramm AVM FRITZ!Powerline (siehe Seite 21).

1. Stecken Sie die zwei FRITZ!Powerline-Geräte in beliebige Steckdosen
Ihres Haushalts.

Das Powerline-Netzwerk erweitern
1. Stecken Sie das neue Powerline-Gerät, das Ihr Netzwerk erweitern soll, in
eine Steckdose.
2. Drücken Sie eine Sekunde lang auf die Verbindungstaste des neuen
Powerline-Geräts, um eine neue Verbindung aufzubauen (siehe Dokumen-
tation des neuen Powerline-Geräts).
Innerhalb von 2Minuten:
Drücken Sie an einem FRITZ!Powerline 510E im bestehenden Powerline-
Netzwerk eine Sekunde lang auf die Taste „Security“.
3. Das neue Powerline-Gerät ist mit dem Powerline-Netzwerk verbunden

En esta guía rápida se indica cómo usar y manejar el kit FRITZ!Powerline
510E Set. Si desea mayor Información y especificaciones técnicas, consulte el

Con FRITZ!Powerline510E se podrán transmitir datos a través de la red eléc-
trica de su hogar. Sus dispositivos de red podrán intercambiar datos cómoda-
mente a través de esta conexión y además tendrán acceso a su red doméstica
y una conexión al router de Internet.
Para empezar a trabajar conecte los dispositivos FRITZ!Powerline a una toma
de corriente y luego conecte FRITZ!Box, el ordenador y/u otros dispositivos de
red y ¡listo!
A través del programa FRITZ!Powerline de AVM tendrá una vista general de la
red PLC y podrá visualizar información detallada acerca de la conexión.
En el kit completo FRITZ!Powerline 510E Set ya se ha configurado de fábrica
el cifrado y podrá ser utilizado inmediatamente.

Mejorar la velocidad de transmisión
El funcionamiento de la red PLC depende de muchos factores. Con los siguien-
tes pasos podrá mejorar la velocidad de transmisión de datos en su red PLC.
Conecte los dispositivos PLC directamente a la toma de corriente y evite el
uso de regletas de enchufes.
Si no puede evitar el uso de regletas de enchufes:
–Utilice una regleta sin protección contra sobretensiones.
–Conecte pocos dispositivos en la regleta.
–Conecte el dispositivo PLC en la primera toma de la regleta, es decir, la
más cercana al cable.
Si no se puede evitar el uso de regletas con protección contra sobretensio-
nes, entonces esta protección debe estar ubicada detrás del
dispositivo PLC.
La velocidad de transmisión en la red PLC disminuye si:
–Hay una conexión a través de varias fases.
–En una conexión a través de una caja de conexiones, un interruptor del
circuito de fallos de conexión a tierra, un atenuador o balastos
–Si se está utilizando una taladrora o aspiradoras.
Trate de minimizar este tipo de situaciones ya que pueden tener efectos
negativos en la transmisión.
Con ayuda del programa AVM FRITZ!Powerline podrá mejorar la calidad de
su red PLC (ver página 33).

1. Conecte los dos dispositivos FRITZ!Powerline 510E en cualquier toma de

Ampliar la red PLC
1. Conecte el nuevo dispositivo PLC, a través del que desea ampliar la red, a
una toma de corriente.
2. Mantenga pulsado el botón de conexión del nuevo dispositivo PLC durante
un segundo para establecer una nueva conexión (consulte la documentaci-
ón del nuevo dispositivo PLC).
En los siguientes 2 minutos: presione el botón “Security” en el
FRITZ!Powerline 510E que hace parte ya de la red PLC durante un se-
gundo.
3. El nuevo dispositivo PLC está conectado a la red PLC y puede utilizarse
inmediatamente.
