NOTE
5816 HAS 2
UNIQUE
ZONES
5816 provides two zones: a
magnetic reed with a max 1/2"
gap (Loop 2) and a wired norm-
ally closed contact (Loop 1).
Slide case onto mount-
ing plate posts until
locking tab clicks.
To replace the cover,
engage the hooks
along one edge and
snap shut.
For enrollment, refer
to the Control Panel
documentation.
NOTE: For UL instal-
lations, 5816 shall be
enrolled as Type "RF"
(supervised RF).
Remove the transmitter’s
cover using the finger latch.
Disengage the mounting plate
from the unit by releasing the
locking tab (see diagram).
Mount 5816 either directly to
the surface or by using the
mounting plate. NOTE: If
using as a door contact,
mount 5816 to the frame and
mount the magnet to the door.
If using NC Wired Loop: Feed
the wires through the
concealed wiring hole on the
mounting plate, or run wiring
through the thin "breakout"
area in the case wall, then
connect the loop to the unit’s
terminals (see diagram on
reverse; no connection is
needed if the wired loop is not
used.) For UL installations: a
contact may not be more than
3 feet from 5816.

Installation
Replace battery only with:
Panasonic CR123A, Duracell
DL123A, Sanyo CR123A,
or ADEMCO 466.
Observe correct polarity.
BATTERY CAUTION: Risk of fire,
explosion and burns. Do not
recharge, disassemble, heat above
212 F (100 C) or incinerate.
Dispose of used batteries properly.
Keep away from children.
IMPORTANT! Do not mount
the transmitter on or near
metal objects, as this may
affect transmission range. It is
also good practice to avoid
locating the transmitter near
wiring (AC, telephone, HVAC,
computer data cables, etc.
If using reed, mount
magnet (5899 or
equiv.) near the
alignment marks (see
diagram).
Install battery as
shown (see diagram)
