About the AMIQ module
The AMIQ module enhanced CAT 5 cable
design eliminates complex cabling connections
in your switching system. A single module
delivers real-time, high bandwidth video for
KVM switching up to 1,000 feet away from
the server. The AMIQ module’s advanced
technology provides built-in memory and
security, enabling you to store server names and
prohibit unauthorized access to the server from
the CAT 5 cabling.
The AMIQ module draws its power from the
server and supports Keep Alive functionality,
enabling your server to operate properly with or
without connectivity to the AMX switch. Keep
Alive functionality is suspended during upgrade.
For additional information
For further instructions on hardware, software
and security configuration, please refer to the
AMX Series Installer/User Guide included with
the AMX switch.
Visit http://www.avocent.com/support for the
latest software and firmware updates.
Connecting a server to the AMIQ module
If the server is not already powered down, do so
now. Plug the AMIQ module KVM connectors
Server
HD15 and 13W3
versions available
AMX ®Switch
into the appropriate ports on the server.
Now, power up the server. When the server has
completely powered up, proceed to the next step.
Connecting an AMIQ module to the
AMX switch
Connect one end of the CAT 5 cable to a server port
on the AMX switch and the other end into the AMIQ
module. If the AMX switch is not already powered up,
do so now.
IMPORTANT: Do not reboot the server during
the upgrade process.
Troubleshooting tips
If a server is unavailable, make sure that all servers
and components are powered up and all modules
are correctly attached. If operation is not restored,
test your connection with another AMIQ module,
or with another port on the AMX switch system.
