INSTRUCTION FOR CALIFORNIA MODEL AWNING
CAUTION: Sheet metal parts may have sharp edges r burrs. Use care and wear appr priate pr tective

WARNING
Recommend at least 2 people work together to install the awning. The hardware supplied is intended for concrete
OR brick wall installation. If you intend to attach the awning to other materials (e.g. wood), other fasteners are
re uired accordingly. Please make sure the fasteners for other materials installation must have the same or above
strength comparing with the provided expansion bolts for concrete surface installation.

Never use the awning during heavy rain, storms or frosty conditions. Please do not extend the awning when wind
is above Beaufort Scale 5 or 30MPH.

Keep the flammable objects away from the awning.

Do not put any heavy object on the awning while the awning is extending.

Check the awning once every month to make sure all bolts and nuts are not loosened. Should you find any loose
bolts, tighten up immediately. Do not use until any repair or replacement is finished, if find any damage parts.

Do not extend or retract the awning when maintenance, such as window or wall cleaning, is being carried out in
the vicinity.

The arms have high tension cables inside the chambers. Do not try to repair or adjust the arms.

This awning should be installed at the height 8’ off the deck/ground.
8. The awning has 1 year limited warranty for any manufacturing defects.
9. The installation should be carried out by at least two adults.
10.
Make sure there is enough space for awning extension before installation.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
FRAME
Cleaning:
use a mild detergent and warm water on the frames; do not use abrasive materials, cleansers, chemicals,
bleach or solvents on frames. Rinse with clean water. Dry thoroughly.
Maintenance:
Frame finishes may be maintained by applying a uality auto wax after each cleaning. For best
results, always cover awning when not in use. We recommend plastic cover or you can purchase a winter cover
by contacting us directly. Always clean and dry the frame thoroughly before placing it in the storage cover.
FABRIC
Cleaning:
Wipe up minor spots with a mild soap and a damp cloth. It is sufficient to brush off the dirt on the curtain
in most cases.
Maintenance:
Dry the fabric in the extended position when it is wet as soon as possible.
PACKAGE
This awing is packed in double corrugated carton box with inner poly bag. The spare parts are packed in separate
inner box or poly bag inside the master carton. If carton is broken or damaged, identify all parts against the parts list.
Do not attempt assembly if any parts are missing or damaged.
STORAGE
This awning should be kept away from fire and inflammable objects and should be stored in a dry place. Dry the
curtain in the extended position when it is wet.

APPLICATION A
INSTALLING WALL MOUNTING BRACKETS TO FLAT SIDING, STUCCO, CEMENT OR CULTURED STONE (OF ANY TYPE):
•Place a safe ladder n a flat, dry, stable surface at b th ends f where the awning will be installed
•Using a chalk-line and a string level ( r a laser level) mark a h riz ntal line at y ur
ch sen height ab ve the pati .
•Using a stud finder, mark the center f all the studs al ng the line where the awning will be installed. Failure t center b lts in
structural studs will cause premature failure and result in awning c llapse and p ssible injury.
•Mark b th ends f where the awning will be installed n that line.
There sh uld be ne bracket each next t the lateral arms (between the r ller/end bracket and the pitch bracket). ALWAYS INSTALL
THE WALL BRACKETS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE PITCH BRACKETS where the arms f ld in. The arm sh uld be n the ne side
and the bracket will be n the ther side f the pitch bracket. Ch se the appr priate studs r rafters t install y ur brackets nt .
Hint: sh rt studs ab ve wind ws and d rs are structural and may be used t secure bracket as well as full length studs.
•Cultured st ne surfaces may require a grinder t flatten ff the area where the brackets are t be installed
•Using the bracket as a template (the t p f the bracket has a ridge n it), mark the h les. Place the b tt m f the bracket n the
chalk line. BRACKETS WILL BE THE LOWEST POINT OF THE AWNING.
•F r stucc r cultured st ne: Use a 5/16” mas nry bit t get thr ugh the surface. Drill a pil t h le int the stud bey nd it with a
3/16” w d/metal bit. F r w d, cement r hardb ard surfaces drill a pil t h le int the stud with a 3/16” w d/metal bit. Using
a ratchet, install (2) 5/16”x3” lag screws and (2) 5/16” washers t secure the bracket t the wall.
•F r c ncrete surfaces: Use a 5/16” mas nry bit t drill 3” deep h les int the surface. Insert tw 5/16”X3” wedge anch rs int the
h le. Install a washer n each anch r. Place the bracket s the anch rs c me thr ugh the m unting h les. Install an ther washer
and fully tighten the nuts.
•F r flat siding: The easiest way is t m unt a 1" x 5”- 6" treated/painted timber beam (the same length as y ur awning width)
thr ugh the siding int the studs using (2) 5/16”x3” lag screws and (2) 5/16” washers. Then y u m unt the awning t the studs
thr ugh the timber beam. Or m unt a 2" x 5”- 6" treated/painted timber beam (the same length as y ur awning width) thr ugh
the siding int the studs.
•Repeat the pr cess f r the remaining brackets.
•Seal ar und each bracket with a clear paint-able silic ne caulking.

APPLICATION B
INSTALLING WALL MOUNTING BRACKETS TO ALUMINUM, VINYL, HARDBOARD OR LAP SIDING

•F r aluminum r vinyl: Mark a 5-1/2”x5-1/2” square (centered n the stud left t right and n the bracket vertically) where the
bracket will be placed. Cut the siding with a sharp utility knife.
•F r all ther siding: Mark a 5-1/2”x5-1/2” square (centered n the stud left t right and n the bracket vertically) where the
bracket will be placed. Cut the siding with a circular saw set at the depth f the siding. C rners may need trimmed with a
hammer and a sharp chisel.
•Make the appr priate number f 5-1/2”x5-1/2” w d bl cks made fr m a piece f 2x6 lumber.
•Using the brackets as a template (the t p f the bracket has a ridge n it), drill (2) 5/16” h les in the bl cks. Sand the c rners
and paint the bl cks t match y ur exteri r paint c l r.
•Drill a pil t h le int the stud with a 3/16” w d/metal bit.
•Using a ratchet, install (2) 5/16”x4-1/2” lag screws (9/16” s cket) and (2) 5/16” washers t secure the bracket t the stud
behind the bl ck.
•Seal ar und each bl ck with clear paint-able silic ne caulking.
•Repeat the pr cess f r the remaining brackets.

•Place safe ladders n a flat, dry, stable surface at b th ends (and in the middle if wider than 12’) f where the awning will be
installed
•Assure that the awning is in the cl sed p siti n and the arms are tied cl sed. This will prevent the unit fr m inadvertently
pening while being lifted int the brackets.
•With the help f a capable assistant ( r tw -if y ur awning is m re than 12’ l ng), lift the awning t the brackets and slip the
t rsi n bar (back bar) int the brackets. Make sure the t rsi n bar slides all the way t the back f the bracket. Then slide
the retaining b lts int the brackets. Center the unit as needed then tighten the nuts n the retaining b lts.
•If the t rsi n bar d es n t easily slip int the brackets, make sure the t rsi n bar is held in place and lift r l wer the fr nt bar
slightly till it is h riz ntal with the t rsi n bar. Y u may need t l sen the brackets slightly t acc mplish this fit.
•Once fully secure, retighten the nuts n the brackets and carefully cut the zip ties ff the arms.

OPERATION
Turn the hand h k t retract r extend the awning as y ur requirement.
Warning: St p retracting the awning with excessive f rces if already fully retracted.

IF YOU ORDERED AN ADJUSTABLE PITCH CRANK.. DO NOT STOP..GO DIRECTLY TO NEXT STEP
•Extend the awning c mpletely.
•First identify the pitch adjustment brackets (K). (see diagram bel w)
•L sen the t p b lt (P) and b tt m b lt (R) (d n t rem ve the
m, just all w them t be m ved) n the bracket at b th ends.
This perati n requires a 6mm and 8mm Allen wrench.
•Have y ur helper(s) h ld the fr nt end f the awning.
•Turn Allen b lt (Q) c unter-cl ck-wise t l wer the pitch and cl ck-wise t raise the pitch n b th ends.
•Once y u adjust the pitch t y ur desired level, tighten up the t p b lt (P) and b tt m b lt (R).
•If the fr nt bar is l wer n ne side, simply l sen (P) n the pp site side bracket and make the appr priate adjustment t
(Q).
After y u are happy with the results retighten (P).
•
The pitch adjustment range is 0 degrees t 15 degrees.

A. WHO GIVES THIS WARRANTY? Awntech Corporation
B. WHO IS ENTITLED TO THIS WARRANTY? This Warranty applies only to the original purchaser who paid for the product and may not be assigned or
transferred to subse uent owners. This Warranty applies only to products purchased and installed in the US.
C. WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF AWNTECH CORPORATION UNDER THIS WARRANTY? Subject to the terms and conditions set forth herein,
Awntech Corporation will furnish replacements for parts found by Awntech Corporation to be defective in design, manufacture or assembly, under each
specific component or product warranty as set forth below.
D. WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER UNDER THE WARRANTY?
1. Before any claims may be made under this Warranty, the original purchaser must have paid in full for the product covered under the Warranty,
according to the terms and conditions of the pay-plan defined in the original order. IF THE PURCHASER HAS FAILED TO MAKE FULL PAYMENT, THIS
WARRANTY SHALL BE NULLIFIED AND AWNTECH CORPORATION SHALL BE RELIEVED FROM ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR LIABILITY UNDER THIS
WARRANTY. The purchaser agrees and acknowledges that this Warranty agreement constitutes an executor contract.
2. The purchaser must use care in installation, maintenance, operation, use, and storage of the product in accordance with the instructions contained in
the owner’s manual. ANY FAILURE TO INSTALL, MAINTAIN, OPERATE, USE AND STORE THE PRODUCT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS
CONTAINED IN THE OWNER’S MANUAL WILL NULLIFY THIS WARRANTY AND RELIEVE AWNTECH CORPORATION FROM ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR
LIABILITY UNDER THIS WARRANTY.
3. Promptly notify Awntech Corporation of any claims.
4. The purchaser may be re uired to provide a photograph of any defective parts. The purchaser may also be re uired to pay a deposit until the
defective parts are returned to Awntech Corporation for inspection. The purchaser must obtain a return authorization form from Awntech
Corporation’s customer service department prior to the return of any merchandise and after having received such authorization, return the part or
product, freight prepaid, to Awntech Corporation.
E. WHAT IS COVERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY?
1. The f ll wing c mp nents f Awntech Beauty-Mark® m dels and their access ries (defined as access ries attached t the awning) are c vered
under this Warranty, subject t the limitati ns set f rth bel w. These c mp nents have a ne (1) year limited (pr rated) warranty, against

manufacturer’s defects as utlined bel w:
(a) Sh uld the purchaser pr mptly n tify Awntech C rp rati n f such defects within ne year (12 m nths) fr m the date f the riginal purchase, the
defective c mp nent will be replaced at n charge. Awntech reserves the right t ask f r the defective part t be returned and/ r ph t s f the
defective part.
COVERED COMPONENTS: f r Retractable Awnings
STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS, all supporting components (excluding Lateral Arms and their fittings) are warranted not to fail for five (1) year provided that the
components are not subjected to excessive winds or water pooling on the fabric.
FRONT ROLLER BAR is warranted against any and all damage including cracking and permanent bowing that would affect the performance of the awning
provided that the awning is not subjected to excessive winds or water pooling on the fabric.
ACRYLIC and ACRYLIC FABRIC is warranted for one (1) year against:
(a) Excessive fading under normal conditions if maintained, operated, used, and stored in accordance with the instructions contained in the owner’s
manual.
(b) Mildew on acrylic fabric. Mildew will not form on the fabric itself, but may form on dirt and dust that have not been removed from it. Please see
maintenance instructions for proper cleaning—outlined in owner’s manual.
(c) Excessive cracking or peeling under normal conditions if maintained, operated, used, and stored in accordance with the instructions contained in the
owner’s manual, and provided that the awning is not subjected to excessive winds or water pooling on the fabric.
DRIVE UNIT (Gear, Square and R und T e) is warranted for one (1) year not to fail under normal conditions if maintained, operated, used, and stored in
accordance with the instructions contained in the owner’s manual.
AWNING ACCESSORIES (defined as accessories attached to the awning) are warranted for one (1) year not to fail under normal conditions if maintained
operated, used, and stored in accordance with the instructions contained in the owner’s manual.

and lighting directi n may cause the fabric y u ch se n the website t appear slightly different than the actual fabric d es in full sunlight.
TRIPLE CHECK YOUR MEASUREMENTS: T av id disapp intment and frustrati n, please triple check all measurements t assure that y ur awning will
fit pr perly in the l cati n y u intend. Please make sure that y u have at least 1’-2’ extra wide area available t install the awning and als make
