ThisproductisapprovedforrepaintbyAxis,providedthatyoufollowtheinstructionsinthisdocumentandat

Riskswithrepainting
ThereareseveralriskswhendisassemblingorassemblinganAxisproduct.Thereisalwaysacertainyieldlossduringassembly.Training
ofoperatorsandtheuseofcorrecttoolsmediatessomeoftheproblemsbuttheycanneverbefullyavoided.Someoftherisksinclude:
ESDDamage-AlwayshandletheproductinanESDsafeenvironment.EvenifprecautionsaretakenthereisalwaysariskofESD
damage.Thedamagecanremainundetectedandcauseproblemsduringthelifetimeoftheeuipment.
Dustcontamination-Openingacameramayexposethelensandsensortodustorpaint.Dustwillaffecttheopticalperformance.
Lensesneedtobedisassembledinadust-freeenvironment,preferablyacleanroom.
Paintoverspray-Maskingthedifferentcomponentsoftheeuipmentiscritical.Failuretomasksensitiveareascancauseproblems
withassemblingtheeuipment.Anyareasthatarenotpaintedatfactoryorhaveadifferentsurfacetreatmentthantherestofthe
parts(threads,groundandelectricalcontactsurfaces)mustalsobemaskedtoensurefunction.
Important
Ifyourepaintthecamera,itlowersthemaximumoperatingtemperature,sincedarkercolorsabsorbmoreheat.

Preparations
•Ifapplicable,disassemblethedeviceaccordingtotheinstructionsinthisdocument.
•Cleanallpartstoberepaintedthoroughlytoremovegrease,dust,oroil.
•Toensurereassemblyandfunctionalityoftheproduct,maskanyopenings(forexampleforscrews,LEDindicators,
ormicrophones)beforeyoupaint.
Pretreatmentofparts
Dependingonthepartmaterialandtypeofpaintappliedatfactory,differentpretreatmentshouldbedoneforthenewpaintto
adhereaswellaspossible.Cleanthepartsproperlytoremoveoil,greaseanddust.
Formoreinformationonthematerialsusedintheproduct,seeitsdatasheetataxis.com.
Powdercoatedparts-Useaprimer.Alternatively,removetheoriginalpowdercoatingdowntothebasematerial,usingne
sandpaper,andcleanthepartsbeforepainting.
Anodisedandchromatedparts-Useaprimer.
Uncoatedstainlesssteel-Nospecialpretreatmentisneeded,butmakesurethatthesurfaceiscleanbeforepainting.
Plastic-Useaprimer.

1.Maskthefrontwindowwiththeincludedcardboard.Makesurethecardboardisproperlypositioned.Reassemblethe
bracketandfastenthetwoscrews.

2.MasktheIRwindowswithmaskingtape.

3.Makesureallnecessarypreparationsofthedomecoverhavebeenmade.SeePreparationsonpage3.
4.Applyathinandevenlayerofspraypaintaccordingtotheinstructionsofthepaintmanufacturer.
5.Letthepaintdry.
6.Togetabettercoverageandclearercolor,applyasecondlayerofspraypaint.
7.Whenthepaintisdry,removethemasking.
