Tosavethefocussettingsataspecicpan/tiltrange,addafocusrecallarea.Eachtimethecameramovesintothatareaitrecallsthe
previouslysavedfocus.It’senoughtocoverhalfofthefocusrecallareaintheliveview.
Werecommendthefocusrecallfeatureinthefollowingscenarios:
•Whenthereisalotofmanualoperationinliveview,forexamplewithajoystick.
•WherePTZpresetpositionswithmanualfocusarenotefcient,forexamplemovementswherethefocussettingchanges
continuously.
•Inlow-lightscenarios,wheretheautofocusischallengedbythelightingconditions.

•Thefocusrecalloverridesthecamera’sautofocusatthespecicpan/tiltrange.
•Apresetpositionoverridesthefocussettingsavedinthefocusrecallarea.

images.Sincethecamerausesmoreoftheavailablelightitcandeliverbrighter,moredetailed,images.

Bitratecontrol
Bysettingthebitratecontrolyoucanmanagethebandwidthconsumptionforyourvideostream.
Variablebitrate(VBR)
Withvariablebitratethebandwidthvariesbasedonthelevelofactivityinthescene.Themoreactivityinthescene,themore
bandwidthisrequired.Thisoptionguaranteesthatimagequalityisconstantbutrequiresstoragemargins.
Maximumbitrate(MBR)
Themaximumbitrateoptionallowsyoutosetatargetbitratevaluetobeabletohandlesystembitratelimitations.Tokeepthe
instantaneousbitratebelowthespeciedtargetbitrate,theremaybeadecreaseinimagequalityortheframeratemaydecrease.
Youhavetheoptiontoprioritizeeitherimagequalityorframerate.Itisrecommendedtocongurethetargetbitratehigherthanthe
expectedbitratetohavemarginsforadditionalcomplexitythatneedstobecaptured.
veragebitrate(BR)
Withaveragebitrate,thebitrateisautomaticallyadjustedoveralongertimescaletomeetthespeciedtargetandprovidethe
bestqualityonthevideostreambasedonavailablestorage.Imagequalityisdecreaseduniformly.Youcanstillgetgoodimage
qualitywhenthereisactivityinthescene.Theaveragebitrateoptionallowsyoutodenethetotalstoragerequiredtostorethe
videostreamforaspeciedamountoftime(retentiontimewhenimagequalityisadjustedtomeetthespeciedtargetbitrate.
Specifytheaveragebitratesettingsinoneofthefollowingways:
•Setthetargetbitrateandtheretentiontimetocalculatetheestimatedstorageneed.
•Usethetargetbitratecalculatortocalculatetheaveragebitrate,basedonavailablestorageanddesiredretentiontime.

Guardtours
Aguardtourdisplaysthevideostreamfromdifferentpresetpositionseitherinapredeterminedorrandomorder,andforcongurable
periodsoftime.Oncestarted,aguardtourcontinuestorununtilstopped,evenwhentherearenoclients(webbrowsersviewingthe
images.

Decidewhichcompressionmethodtousebasedonyourviewingrequirements,andonthepropertiesofyournetwork.The
availableoptionsare:
MotionJPEG
MotionJPEG,orMJPEG,isadigitalvideosequencethatismadeupofaseriesofindividualJPEGimages.Theseimagesarethen
displayedandupdatedataratesufcienttocreateastreamthatshowsconstantlyupdatedmotion.Fortheviewertoperceivemotion
videotheratemustbeatleast16imageframespersecond.Fullmotionvideoisperceivedat30(NTSCor25(PALframespersecond.
