Introduction
The Axon Fleet 3 Wireless Microphone is a hardware solution for audio capture outside of the Fleet
3-equipped vehicle where Axon Body Worn Cameras have not been deployed. The Charge Base is
mounted in the vehicle, connected to the hub via ethernet, and handles all charging and data needs
for the Wireless mic while docked. The Charge base also facilitates all pairing and audio
communication to the microphone while in use. The Axon Fleet 3 Hub can support up to 2 Wireless
Microphones and 2 Charge bases per vehicle.
Wireless Microphone Performance:
•The Wireless Microphone has a range of 1,000ft (300m) with unobstructed line-of-
sight and at least 500ft (150m) with a person and vehicle obstruction.
•When fully charged, the Wireless Microphone will last 12 hours. When inserted in the
Charging Base, a Wireless Microphone will recharge to 85% within 90 minutes.
•Wireless Microphone uses the Axon Rapidlock mounting solution, sharing all the
same mounting configurations as Axon Body Worn cameras.
•The Wireless Microphone is shipped with an optional lapel microphone, which
provides superior audio capture quality and wind noise cancellation.

Wireless Microphone Operation
Charging the Battery
A fully charged Axon Fleet 3 Wireless Microphone battery will have enough power for
approximately 14 hours of normal operation. It is recommended to charge your microphone
for a minimum of 1.5 hours after a typical 12-hour shift.
Charging is done through the Fleet 3 charging base. The microphone charges when docked
in the Charging base, mounted inside a Fleet 3 enabled vehicle. Dock the microphone into
the charging base to charge it back to full.
NOTE: Operational thermal limits for charging are 5℃- 40℃0

Pairing the Microphone
The first time the Wireless Microphone is docked in a Charging Base, it will enter the pairing process.
Once paired, the microphone automatically reconnects when:
-The Wireless Microphone goes out of range and comes back in range.
-The Wireless Microphone is powered off and then powered back on.
-Pairing will reoccur if the Wireless Microphone is placed in a different charging base. When
this happens, it loses pairing with its original charging base and becomes paired with its new
charging base.
For simplicity, pairing and reconnection have the same experience:
Pairing Process: LCD displays "PAIRING" and the LED is white.
Successful Pairing and Connection: LCD displays “READY” and the LED shows the charge level (if
docked) or the recording status (if undocked).
Note: No audio is recorded while the mic is docked.
Firmware Updates
Firmware updates for the Axon Fleet 3 Wireless Microphone and Charging Base are executed
through the Fleet Dashboard application.
Note: Always dock the Wireless Microphone before installing a Fleet 3 update so the
Wireless Microphone also receives the latest update.
