electricityusage.YourdisplaycommunicateswirelesslytotheSmartelectricitymeterinstalledonyourhometo

engageseventheyoungestpreschoolerofyourhouseholdinconservation.Thespeedatwhichthecoloredlightmoves
alongthearcofthelightarccorrelatestoyourenergyconsumption(turnoffanapplianceandwatchitslowdown);
andthecolorofthelightreflectsyourelectricityrates.Electricityratesareattheirlowestwhenthelightisgreen;they
haverisenwhenthelightisyellowandareattheirhighestwhenthelightisred.
Whilea120VACpoweradapterisprovidedtopoweryourIn‐HomeDisplayundernormaloperation,yourdisplayalso
supportsbatterypoweredoperationsothatyoucantakethedisplaythroughyourhomeandexplorehowtheuseof
differentappliancesimpactyourenergyuse.Formoreinformationaboutthisfeature,seetheQuickReadsectionof
theUserManual.Beforeoperatingonbatteries,theIHDmustbepluggedintoACpowerovernighttochargethe
batteries.

Light Arc
Thelightarccolorreflectstherelativepriceofelectricity(where
supportedbyutility):green/lowest;yellow/mid;red/highest.
Ifyourutilityonlyusesasinglepriceforallelectricityuse,thelightarcwill

Battery Operation
YourIHDalsosupportsbatterypoweredoperationforshortperiodsso
thatyoucantakethedisplaythroughoutyourhomeandexplorehowthe
useofdifferentappliancesimpactsyourenergyconsumption.(SeeQuick
ReadModesectionofUserManual.)
Beforeoperatingonbatteries,theIHDmustbepluggedinto120VAC
powerovernighttochargethebatteries.
Inbatterymode,theIHDwillautomaticallyturnthebacklightandlightarcoff
whentheIHDisinactive,toconservebatterylife.Thelightarcandbacklightwill
turnonmomentarilytoilluminatethescreenwhenabuttonispressed.
Powering Down

Contrast
Contrastreferstothedifferencebetweenthetextandthebackground.
Ifthetextpresentedonthedisplayisdifficulttoread,
selecttheSetContrastmenuoption,
adjustthecontrastlevelusingtherightandleftbuttonsand
pressthemiddlebuttontosaveyourchanges.
Theamountofcontrastselectedisdepictedusingaboldline.Thelongertheline,thedarkerthebackgroundbecomes.
Backlight
TocustomizeyourIHD’sbacklightlevel,
selecttheSetBacklightmenuoption,
adjustthebrightnessofthedisplay’sbacklighttomakethetexteasiertoreadusingtheleftandrightbuttons
pressthemiddlebuttontosaveyourchanges.

TheIHD’sbacklightandthelightarccanbeconfiguredtoturnoff
automaticallyatnightandbackonagaininthemorning.
Tosetyourpreferences,
selecttheNightTimeModemenuoption,
enterthetimewhenthelightswillbeturnedoff(usingtheleftand
rightbuttons),
enterthetimewhentheIHDwillresumenormaloperationusingthe
lightarcandbacklight,and
selectYestoconfirmyourselection.
Pressinganybuttonwhileinnighttimemodewillcausethelightarcandbacklighttoilluminatetemporarily.

Resetting your summary views (Set Billing Date Menu)
YourIHD’sSummaryandtheDetailedSummaryviewsprovideasummary
ofyourelectricityusageandcostsincethesummarywasreset.When
thesesummariesarereset,thesevalueswillbeginaccumulatingfrom
zero.
ToconfigureyourIHDtoautomaticallyresetthesesummaries,selectthe
SetBillingDatemenuoptionandusingyourleftandrightbuttons
selectaspecificmonthanddaywhenyourbillingcyclebeginsand
selecthowoftenyourbillingcyclerepeatsbyspecifyinghowoften
thebillingcyclerepeats.
Choicesinclude:1to6.
Ifamonthhasfewerdaysthantheselectedvalue,thesummarieswillberesetonthelastdayinthemonth.
Forexample,
toconfigureyourIHDtoreseteverymonth,selectJan01andrepeatevery1monthor

System Setup for your IHD

Reconnecting to your meter (Restart Network Menu)
Iftheutilityneedstoreplaceyourmeter,youmaybeinstructedbyyourutilitytoselectRestartNetwork.
Warning:OnlyselectRestartNetworkifyourutilityinstructsyoutodosotopreventlossofvaluableinformationor
informationthatmayberequiredforyourIHDtoconnecttoorcommunicatewithyourSmartmeter.

Viewing your electricity rates
YourIHDsupportstwotypesofrates:flatrateandtimeofuse(TOU)rates.Ifyourutilitycompanydoesnotsupport
electricityratedatayouwillbeunabletoviewelectricityratesinformationonyourIHD.
Costsarecalculatedandstoredusingtherateineffectatthetimetheelectricityisconsumed.
Newelectricityrateswillimpactelectricitycostsasoftheireffectivedateandtime.Newpricingwillnotalterpreviously
storedelectricitycosts.
Thesecostsareforinformationalandeducationalpurposesonlyandwillnotexactlymatchyourelectricitybill.
Flatrates
Flatratesremainthesamethroughoutthedayandeverydayduringtheweek.
Forexample,ifyourflatrateis8.5¢/kWh,thenpriceof1kWhusedat8AMonMondaywillbethesameas1kWhused
at5PMonWednesdayorat3AMonSaturday.
Timeofuserates
Timeofuse(TOU)ratesvaryinpricebasedonwhenyouuseelectricity.
Thetimeoftheday,dayoftheweek,andseasonoftheyearcanallimpactyourcost.
Underatimeofuseratestructure,youwillbenefitfromminimizingyourelectricityuseduringperiodsofhighcost.In
theexamplebelow,electricityismostexpensiveinthesummerbetweenthehoursof11AMand5PMandduringthe
winterduringthehoursof7AMand11AMand5PMand7PM.

InthisthreetierTOUexample,theOn‐Peaktier(red)ismostexpensive,theMid‐PeakTier(yellow)islessexpensive,

beusefulwhentroubleshootingyourIHD.Ifyouhaveawarrantyissueorrequireassistance,youmaybeaskedto
accessthesescreensandtoprovidecertaininformationtotheteamatAztechand/oryourutility.
To obtain system information
PressandholdtherightbuttontoaccesstheMainmenuandthenselect
theSystemInfomenuoptiontogetstarted.
ThefollowingscreenstosupporttroubleshootingyourIHDarefoundin
theSystemInfomenu.
SelectMeterReadingtoobtainthetotalenergyvalueandtiervalues
fromtheSmartmeterand
SelectVersionInfotoobtainthedeviceserialnumberandhardware
andfirmwareversionnumbers.
If your display is blank,
pleasepoweryourIHDwiththeprovidedACadaptertorechargethe
batteriesand,
pressthemiddlebuttontoturntheIHDon.
If your display is not updating usage information on the screen,
verifythatyourIHDisstillcommunicatingwithyourSmartmeter
TheAntennaiconisdisplayedwhenyourIHDconnectswirelesslytoyourelectricitymeter.
Whenflashing,thesignalstrengthisweak.
Whenthereisnoicon,thesignalhasbeenlost.
Ifthesignalhasbeenlostorisweak,pleaserelocatetheIHDclosertoyourmeteruntiltheantennaiconis
