The PULSE – How does it Work?
Figure 13
Overview
The Pulse is a visualization of your Playing style and your
overall ranking in the BABOLAT PLAY tennis community with
your Pulse Average Score. The Pulse is based on 3 aspects:
technique, Power and Endurance. After 2 validated
sessions, your Pulse starts to appear. It will be completely
active after 6 sessions (figure 13).
Your Pulse beats accordingly with your tennis Play
frequency. The more you play & synchronize on a regular
basis, the more rapidly your Pulse beats. It will also change
color whenever you unlock new skills. If you stop Playing,
the beat rate will slow down gradually.
The grey shape with the dash outline is your last validated
session. The average score indicates your overall Pulse
rating.
Note: If you haven’t played for more than 3 months, your Pulse will stop beating. Getting
back onto the court will reactivate your Pulse. Take care of your Pulse, play often.
The endurance index is linked with your Play frequency and to the energy you use during
each session. It indicates your ability to sustain a long and strong effort.
The technique index is based on your ability to consistently hit the ball in the Sweetspot for
each type of shot.
The power index is the mean value of the power for all your shots. Every shot is counted.

Analyze – How does it Work?
Figure 14
Overview
Find all your game sessions on the activity wall. After
downloading a session from your racket, they appear
directly on your activity wall. You must validate your
sessions to update your statistics (figure 14).
You can define each session as a match or a training
session; track your tennis score and more. Each validated
session reactivates your Pulse, develops your skills and
updates your records.
Note: Once a session is validated, it shows up in your
personal statistics and cannot be erased.
Figure 15
Shot Breakdown
Shot breakdown tells you how many shots you’ve hit in
each session for each different stroke type.
Figure 15 shows that 81 forehands were hit out of a total
number of 179 shots. In other words, 45% of the total
number of shots was forehands.

BABOLAT&PLAY&USER’S&GUIDE&&
16&
Figure 16
Serves
You can also analyze your First Serves and Second Serves.
The gauge in figure 16 indicates the power level of your
last First serve or Second serve, as well as your maximum
Power Level achieved during the overall session. This will
help you stay on top and maximize your power capacity
every time you serve.
Figure 17
Serves & Spin
You can go even deeper by checking out whether your
serves had spin or were flat. For example in figure 17, it
shows out of 33 first serves, 17 had spin and 16 were flat.
The Spin effect rating underneath the gauge refers to your
average amount of spin. It also indicates your % power
level explained in figure 16.
Figure 18
Ball Impact Locator
PAre you consistent in locating the ball in the same place
on your racket? You now have access to this information.
Figure 18 shows that out of 101 shots, 19 were on the Sweet
spot, 32 on the right hand side etc...

BABOLAT&PLAY&USER’S&GUIDE&&
17&
Tagging a session:
The Tag feature allows you to split your game session into sequences. By pressing the tag
button on your racket’s butt cap (see figure 1), you can review your match set by set or
analyze a training session in more detail with the following information: number of shots,
average power, energy used, playing time and regularity (figure 19).
Figure 19
The Tag feature is particularly useful for working on consistency i.e. your ability to reproduce a
given shot over and over again. The more you master your technique, the more consistent
your shots will be. This index is adapted to training or drills, when the goal is to reproduce one
particular shot consistently (for example, on a service drill).

BABOLAT&PLAY&USER’S&GUIDE&&
18&
Evolution on the website:
In the Evolution feature on the website, you can visualize your performance, either in simple
mode (figure 20) or in custom mode (figure 21). Custom mode allows you to personalize the
amount of information you want to display at any one time. You can also customize the
period of time for which you wish to review your evolution; weekly, monthly or even yearly.

Skills – How does it Work?
Your Skills level indicates your achievements within the PLAY experience and depends on
how hard you've played and practiced since the beginning. Each shot played with your
racket is counted and fills in a corresponding gauge. When all your shot gauges reach 100%,
you get to the next Skills level. Note also that a varied style of play will fill each gauge more
quickly and bring you more rapidly to the next level.
In Skills you also get an easy look into what styles you often use and which ones you haven’t
implemented in your game. Remember, the more diverse your style is, the tougher an
opponent you become.
Your skills level depends also on your frequency of play. If you stop playing for a long time, for
example, then your skills level will start to decrease.
Compare yourself to the BABOLAT Play Community:
The ranking of Players within the Play community is based on your Pulse’s average score. For
the first time, you will be able to compare your tennis with other Players within the community.
You can also find other Play Players to be a partner or an opponent and then follow them in
the community. You can search all Play Players, Facebook friends who have a Play account,
or within the BABOLAT pro team.
You are free at anytime to Follow or Unfollow friends within the Play community.
Your ranking in the Play community will be more accurate if you chose your own category i.e.
Players of the same age and sex.
With the Versus feature in Community, you can compare your Pulse with another player’s
Pulse within the Play community (figure 22).To do this using a Smartphone, just turn it sideways.

Tips & Advice
Lending your racket:
If you plan on lending your racket, you must synchronize and download your data
beforehand (figure 23)
Figure 23
Merging sessions:
If you decide to take a break from playing for more than 15 minutes or if you have to replace
your strings, your racket will turn off. Your racket will think your session has finished. If you start
playing again, you have the possibility of merging the new session with the previous one.
To do this, click on the undefined session in the app for just over a second or by using your
mouse on the Website. It will become highlighted. Drag and drop it onto the previous session
to merge the two together (figure 24). Merging sessions can also be done if a player has
more than one PLAY racket paired to the same account. If your sessions are 5 hours apart,
you can no longer merge them.
Resetting Your Racket
If your racket appears to be frozen, we advise you carry out a racket reset. To do this, you
firstly need to open the butt cap trap, take a thin object, insert it in the hole and press down.
