These safety precautions contain information intended to prevent bodily injury to the user
and to surrounding people, as well as damage to property, and must be observed at all
times.

Warning
・BabySmile S-502 is a nasal aspirator designed for suctioning mucus. Please consult with
a physician or other healthcare professional before using.
・Immediately turn off the power switch and unplug the power plug from the outlet if any
abnormality occurs to the unit. Do not disassemble the unit, and contact the store you
purchased the unit.
・Before using the unit for the first time or after the unit hasn't been used for a long time,
please ensure the unit is disinfected. The unit is delivered non-sterile.
・Please ensure that suctioned materials do not exceed 11.32 fl oz (335mL) canister
capacity. Overflow of suctioned material from the canister into the pump may cause a
malfunction.
・Please consult with a physician or other healthcare professional if a long silicone tip is
used.
・Do not use the unit for anything other than the purpose described in this manual (such
as for blood drawing).
・Do not lubricate any part of the unit with grease.
・Do not operate the unit for longer than the maximum continuous operating time (Max: 5
minutes).
・Do not use the unit in a place where it may be exposed to flammable or explosive gas.
Failure to do so may cause fire or bodily injury.
・Do not disassemble or alter the unit. Failure to do so may cause fire, electric shock or
bodily injury.
・Do not block the exhaust outlet located on the rear of the unit.
・Do not wash or immerse the main unit or AC adapter in water or other liquid, as they are
not waterproof. Failure to do so may cause electric shock or a short circuit.
・Do not use if any area of body contacting the unit has a wound, inflammation or
bleeding.
・Be sure to use only the AC Adapter supplied with the unit. Using any other AC adapter
may cause a malfunction or fire.

Caution
・The unit can be operated at ambient temperatures of +41 to +95℉(+5 to +35℃) and
relative humidity of 75% (Max. with no ice or dew condensation.) Operating the unit
in any other operating environments may cause the unit to work incorrectly and the
patient's symptoms to get worse.
・When changing the vacuum pressure, be sure to start with lowest pressure and gradually
adjust it.
・Ensure all parts are dried thoroughly before assembly. Penetrating water or any other
liquid into the pump may cause a malfunction.
・Be sure to attach the float-shut off valve to the canister cover before using.
・Ensure the unit is placed on the horizontal and stable location.
・Do not rotate the canister when connected to the main unit. Failure to do so may cause
suctioned materials and water in the canister penetrate into the main unit, and may
cause a malfunction.
・Do not tip over the unit. Penetrating suctioned materials from the canister into the pump
may cause a malfunction.
・Do not insert fingers or objects inside the unit. Failure to do so may cause a malfunction,
electric shock or bodily injury.
・Do not use the device with a blanket or towel wrapped around. Failure to do so may
cause heat generation, electric shock or malfunction.
・Do not turnONthe power switch when the canister retains negative pressure inside.
・Do not drop or subject the unit to any strong impact. Failure to do so may cause a
breakage, electric shock or malfunction.
・Do not drop or hit the unit.
・Do not use the canister if it is damaged, cracked or broken in any way.
・Do not use accessories other than those supplied with the unit or genuine accessories
sold by Baby Health Care, Inc. Failure to do so may cause the unit to work incorrectly
and the patient's symptoms to get worse.
Power Supply
Warning
・Plug the AC Adapter into an outlet (AC 100-240V 50/60Hz 15 or higher Amp).
Using incorrect power voltage may cause electric shock, smoke emission or fire. Be sure
to use only the AC Adapter supplied with the unit.
・Do not handle the power plug or cord with wet hands.
Failure to do so may cause electric shock and result in bodily injury.
・Do not take off the AC Adapter Plug part.
Caution
・Always plug directly into a single outlet. Otherwise it may cause fire or an electrical
leakage.
・Insert the power plug into the outlet as far as it goes. A halfway inserted power plug
(imperfect contact) may cause a short circuit, electric shock and fire.
・Be sure to hold the plug when unplugging the power plug.
Unplugging by holding the cord may cause damage to the power cord, electric shock
and fire.
・Clean the power plug and the outlet on regular basis.
Accumulation of dust on the power plug and the outlet may cause heat generation and
catching fire.
・The AC Adapter can provide the power when the LED on the adapter is lit on.

Caution
・Do not use the AC adapter if the cord or the power plug is damaged or if the plug
connection to the outlet is too loose. Failure to do so may cause electric shock, short
circuit or fire.
・Do not damage the power cord. Placing a heavy object or using excessive force to the
power cord may cause damage and result in electric shock or fire.
Maintenance and Storage
Warning
・Be sure to store the main unit and accessories in a clean place to prevent multiplication
of bacteria.
・Be sure to turn the power OFF and unplug the power plug from the outlet when
assembling, detaching and cleaning the unit. Failure to do so may cause electric shock
and malfunction, and result in bodily injury.
・Be sure to unplug the power plug from the outlet if the unit is not going to be used for
a long time. Failure to do so may cause accumulation of dust on the power plug and
catching fire.
・Keep out of reach of children. Failure to do so may cause a child to swallow small parts.
If a child has swallowed small parts, please contact the doctor immediately.
Caution
・Dispose of the used main unit and accessories according to the local laws and
regulations. Failure to do so may cause environmental pollution.
・Be aware not to overfill the canister with suctioned material when cleaning.
・When suctioned materials from the canister penetrate into the pump, the suctioned
material may stay in the pump and cause a malfunction. If occurred, please contact the
manufacturer or repair service center.
・Use only cold water or lukewarm water to wash the suction tube. Plastic parts are heat-
labile and using hot water may cause deformation.
・Do not use benzine, thinner or other volatile agents to clean the unit. Failure to do so
may cause a malfunction.
・Do not use or store in the following environments:
−Environments where other chemical agents are stored
−Environments where gas is generated; this unit is not explosion proof
−Environments where the unit is exposed to water
−Environments containing high percentage of dust, salt, sulfur or humidity;
using the unit in these environments may cause fire or electric shock
−Environments where the unit is exposed to unstable conditions such as
vibrations, shocks or surface inclinations. Using the unit in these environments
may cause tipping or dropping of the unit and may result in bodily injury.
−Environments where the unit is exposed to direct sunlight. Using the unit in these
environments may cause heat generation and malfunction.

Maintenance
Caution
・Be sure to check if the unit operates correctly and safely before using.
・Be sure to conduct daily check-ups and periodic check-ups (conducted by the user) of
the unit.
・Be sure to get annual check-ups of the unit once a year by the manufacturer or repair
service providers. Failure to do so may not maintain the performance and continued
safety of the unit.
・Be sure to clean and conduct check-ups of the unit on regular basis. To maintain the
performance and continued safety of the unit for a long time, and as well as to avoid a
sudden malfunction, please conduct daily check-ups and periodic check-ups (conducted
by the user) of the unit according to the instructions in this user's manual.
・After the unit hasn't been used for a long time, be sure to check if the unit operates
safely before using; conducting repair service check-ups may be effective.
・As the unit keeps suctioning materials in the form of mist into the tube and pump,
gradually vacuum pressure and suction flow rate are affected by suctioned materials. Be
sure to get periodic check-ups by the manufacturer or repair service providers.
Note: These check-ups are subject to fees.
Disinfecting and Use of Disinfecting Agents
Warning
・Parts should be rinsed with water thoroughly and dried completely after cleaning,
sterilizing and disinfecting. They should be stored in a clean place. Failure to do so may
cause multiplication of bacteria and infections.
Caution
・Be sure to wash parts thoroughly before disinfecting. Without removing dirt and grime
from the surface of parts may decrease the efficacy of sterilization or disinfection.
・As for dilute concentration and immersion time of disinfecting agents, be sure to follow
the instructions provided by each disinfecting agent's manufacture, and use adequate
quantity accordingly and properly. Do not use high concentration agents or leave
the parts immersed longer than required for disinfection. Failure to do so may cause
degradation of parts.
・Do not touch disinfecting agents directly or inhale vaporized gas. Failure to do so may
cause chapped hands and toxic gas inhalation.
・Do not heat an empty pot if conducting boiling disinfection. Failure to do so may cause
fire.
・Do not mix disinfectants with other disinfectants or detergents. Failure to do so may
cause degradation of disinfection efficacy and generation of harmful ingredients.
・Do not use microwave for boiling disinfection. Failure to do so may cause fire.
・Do not use disinfectants with cresol and amphoteric surface-active agents. Using these
agents may cause cracking of plastics.

Unit Features
To remove the canister from the main unit, slide off
the canister cover from the main unit.
To prevent overflow of suctioned materials from the canister, the float-shut off valve is equipped
with the unit.
When the canister is filled with suctioned materials, the float closes the float-shut off valve and
stops the suction.
Note: In case of the float malfunction, always be aware that suctioned materials should not
exceed the MAX line (White Line) of canister.
Note: Be sure to keep the float clean. If suctioned materials are attached to the float, wash off
immediately.

How to Operate the Unit
Note: Using disposable gloves during suctioning is highly recommended to avoid infection.
Note: For the purpose of showing the operating instruction clear, glove is not worn in this user's
manual.
Connect the silicone tip to the silicone tip
connector.
After making sure that the vacuum regulator
knob is in the
1position and the LED on
the AC Adapter is lit, turn
ONthe power
switch located on the rear of the unit.

Place a finger over the silicone tip hole and
stop the flow of air.

Remove the finger from the silicone tip hole,
and immerse the tip in water or purified
water to run it through inside the suction
tube.
Note: Be sure to use only cold water or lukewarm
water.
Note: When removing the finger from the silicone tip
hole, the suction power decreases. This is a
natural phenomenon caused by the flow of air
and not the abnormality or malfunction of the
unit.
Note: This is to prevent the suctioned materials to be
built up and attached inside the suction tube,
and to help the suctioned materials go into the
canister smoothly.
Insert the silicone tip into the nostril and
suction mucus.
Note: Suction in manner of sealing off the nostril with
the silicone tip.
Note: Do not suction more than 6 seconds. Instead
perform 3 to 5 seconds short suction for
several times.

Optimizing the suction power by turning the
regulator knob.
Note: When applying to an infant and if the infant
shows discomfort or pain, stop suctioning and
check if there is any abnormality.
Indication of adjustable suction power in each
regulator knob position:
1 : -30kPa (Approx.)
2 : -60kPa (Approx.)
3 : -80kPa (Approx.)

Please follow the directions provided with the long silicone tip when using.
Note: Please ensure that suctioned materials do not exceed 11.32 fl oz (335mL) canister

Immerse the silicone tip in water or purified
water to run it through inside the suction
tube after suctioning.
Note: This is to clean and rinse off the suctioned
materials built up and attached inside the
suction tube and move them into the canister.

suctioned materials and water in the canister penetrate into the main unit, and may
cause a malfunction.
・Do not tilt this unit. Failure to do so may cause suctioned materials and water in the

Disconnect the suction tube from the
suction tube connector.
Hold the canister tightly with one hand,
and pull up the canister cover gently
from side to side with the other hand by
hooking fingers on the rim.
Slide off the canister cover from the main
unit.
Note: Slide off the canister cover gently. Failure to do so
may cause splattering the suctioned materials.
Note: Do not rotate the canister when connected to the
main unit. Failure to do so may cause suctioned
materials and water in the canister penetrate into the
main unit, and may cause a malfunction.

Drain the accumulated suctioned materials

Remove the float-shut off valve from the
canister cover.
Remove the canister O-Ring attached to
the canister.

Use a soft sponge and liquid of diluted natural
detergent with water, and clean outside the suction
tube thoroughly.
Note: Cleaning both inside and outside of the suction tube may
be done by immersing the suction tube in the liquid of
diluted natural detergent with water.
Use absorbent cotton with the disinfection ethanol
and wipe outside the suction tube.
Immerse them in the liquid of diluted natural
detergent with water and clean them thoroughly.
After cleaning, immerse them thoroughly in the
disinfectant for disinfection. Dry well on the clean
towel.
Note: When washing, use a soft material cleaning tool like a soft
cloth or sponge. Using a hard material cleaning tool may
cause scratches during the process.
Cleaning and disinfecting outside the suction tube
Warning: Please ensure that suctioned materials do not exceed 11.32 fl oz (335mL) canister capacity.
Immerse the suction tube in the liquid of diluted
natural detergent with water. Clean thoroughly
inside the suction tube with the liquid, and apply
the disinfection ethanol. Dry thoroughly after the
disinfection.
Note: Cleaning inside the suction tube may be done without
turning the power OFF of the unit by suctioning the liquid
of diluted natural detergent with water. It is easy to clean
inside the suction tube and highly recommended method.
Drain the accumulated suctioned materials in the canister
after cleaning the suction tube.
Note: Use only cold water or lukewarm water to wash the
suction tube. Plastic parts are heat-labile and using hot
water may cause deformation.

Wet a soft cloth with water or disinfection ethanol
and wring it lightly. Wipe the surface of the main unit
gently with the wetted cloth.
With tough dirt and grime, apply a small amount of
natural detergent to the wetted cloth. After cleaning
the main unit with the wetted cloth, wipe thoroughly
with a dried cloth.
Cleaning and disinfecting the main unit
Warning
・Do not wash or immerse the main unit or AC adapter in water or other liquid, as they are
not waterproof.
・Be sure to turn the powerOFFand unplug the power plug from the outlet when
cleaning, connecting or removing the parts. Failure to do so may cause electric shock
and malfunction, and result in bodily injury.
・Cleaned or disinfected parts should be rinsed with water and dried thoroughly, and
should be kept in the clean place.
Caution
・Do not use benzine, thinner or other volatile agents to clean the unit.
Boiling disinfection can be applied to the parts listed below.
Note: The parts to which boiling disinfection can be applied: Silicone Tips, Suction Tube, Float-Shut Off Valve,
Canister O-Ring, Canister Cover Connector O-Ring and Suction Tube Connector O-Ring
Note: Do not use a dishwasher for cleaning and disinfecting any parts of this unit. Using a dishwasher may cause
parts deformation.
1. Place the parts to which boiling disinfection can be applied into the pot.
2. Fill the pot with water to cover the all parts completely. Once water gets boiled, boil them for
15 minutes for disinfection.
3. Take out all the parts and dry them thoroughly.
