1.1 Purpose of this Manual
This manual is an integral part of the item. Read all warning and instructions very carefully, as they give
important safety precautions and information about the use and maintenance of the product. Descriptions
and illustrations contained in this publication are not binding. Sidhil reserves the right to make any

2. SAFETY
2.1 General Rules
Warning
Improper use of the stretcher and improper maintenance can cause damage to people
or objects.
Warning
IN CASE OF BLOODTRANSMITTED DISEASES: To reduce the risk of exposure
while using the stretcher, follow the maintenance instructions written in this manual,
and the personnel safety regulations as established by person in charge of the Medical
Emergency Service. Operators must read and follow this manual carefully, and
familiarise themselves with the correct operating and maintenance procedures of the
stretcher.
Always use and carry out the maintenance procedures of the article as prescribed in
this manual, and use only Sidhil spare sparts and Sidhil customer service centre.
The stretcher while used on a level surface with patients and operators of medium
height can be handled by only one operator.
Unusual circumstances or excessive weight of the patient may require additional
personnel to ensure comfort and safety of the patient.
Do not use the stretcher for any purpose other than that for which it was intended and
designed.
Always advise the patient before adjusting the stretcher.
Never leave the patient on the stretcher unattended.
Keep this manual for future reference and to support personnel training.
Keep this manual together with the product in the event that you sell or give the
product to a new user.

3. INTRODUCTION
3.1 General Description
E-MED 1504
Adjustable Height Stretcher with Trendelenburg and Reverse-Trendelenburg.
Two section base with removable springs made of welded and galvanized steel.
At the stretcher’s four corners, there are holes for pushing handles, housing for accessories, and
protective side buffer made of soft plastic dirt-resistant material.
At the head-side supports for drainage bags and prearrangement for oxygen tank holder.
Backrest movement occurs by proper lever, which are positioned on both sides of the stretcher and
operates the pneumatic-piston.
The lifting of the stretcher by the pedal occurs through pantograph devices operated by a hermetic
hydraulic pump.
Trendelenburg and reverse-trendelenburg movement is operated by lever on the foot-side and balanced
with pneumatic-piston.
Base-cover is made of plastic material, easy to clean, equipped with front and rear accessories boxes.
Structure made of thick tubular steel and painted with epoxy powders.
Wheels diam. 200 with simultaneous locking, one of which directional made of plastic dirtresistant
material with support in chromium plated steel and the others swivel on ball bearing.
Standard safety belts for patient.
E-MED 1500 (Radio-Transparent Rolled Plane)
Adjustable Height Stretcher without Trendelenburg and Reverse-Trendelenburg.
Made like EMED1504 without Trendelenburg/reverse-Trendelenburg movement.
E-MED 1510
Four adjustable and removable rolled sections without Trendelenburg / reverse-Trendelenburg
movement.
E-MED 1512
Made like EMED1510 Trendelenburg/reverse-Trendelenburg movement.
E-MED 1600
Hospital Ward Stretcher with Independent Brake.
Two sections base with removable springs made of welded and galvanized steel, fastened to the support
made of plastic material.
At the stretcher’s four corners, there are holes for pushing handles, housing for accessories, and
protective side buffer made of soft plastic dirt-resistant material.
At the head-side supports for drainage bags and prearrangement for oxygen tank holder. Backrest’s
movement occurs by proper lever, which are positioned on both sides of the stretcher and operate the
pneumatic-piston.
Light weight structure made of thick tubular steel and painted with epoxy powders.

On the base wheels diam. 200, two wheels are swivel and free, and two equipped with independent foot
brake. Wheels made of plastic dirt-resistant material with support in chromium plated steel and swivel on
ball bearing.
Standard safety belts for patient.
E-MED 1602
Hospital Ward Stretcher with Constant Brake.
Made like EMED1600 but on the base there are two swivel wheels and two wheels with spring brake
always inserted, and that can be unlocked by the handle positioned at the head- side of the stretcher.
Common Features
All stretcher can be adjusted with wheels set at the time of purchase, one of which is antistatic and suitable
for the stretchers with adjustable height; this wheel type is recognized by a yellow ring placed on the
wheel’s support, and suitable for the stretchers with fixed height, recognizable by a yellow small stamp
placed on the rubber part of the wheels. The antistatic wheel allows ground continuity. The stretchers can
also be equipped with a radiotransparent base that allows you to take an X-ray without moving the patient
from the stretcher.

3.2 Reference Standards
The item was designed and manufactured by GIVAS SRL in compliance with the safety requirements of
directive 93/42/CEE of 14.06.93 (class I) and further modifications to it, (Directive 2007/47/CEE), about
medical devices.
3.3 Intended Use
• Device type: first aid stretcher.
• The device is intended to be used in patient’s transport, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring.
• Environment: hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and geriatric and clinics in application
environment 2, 3 or 5.
• Product to be used by: specialised operators and doctors.
• Supervision and responsibility: the stretcher must be used under a doctor’s supervision.
• Warning: the stretcher cannot be used in a potentially explosive atmosphere.
• Usage limitations: the stretcher can be used only according to the present manual.

6.1 Transportation and Handling
Warning
Lifting and handling operations must be conducted by skilled personnel trained for this
purpose.
Delivery of this item includes an option of: road, rail, sea and air.
The item is packed in recyclable cardboard boxes, designed for handling.
Handling must be carried out by the suitable equipment.
The equipment suitable for handling are as following: Self-propelling lift truck, hand lift truck.
6.2 Preparing the Area of Installation
The are of installation must have a rigid, horizontal and level floor.
6.3 Packing List Verification
Remove the content of the package and check it against the packing list.
If all components are present and undamaged, tha packaging can be disposed of or recycled in proper
collection areas inacessible to children and animals.
If the article has been damaged during shipment, keep the package and the rest of packaging, and attain to
the provisions contained in the term of sales.
6.4 Checking the Equipment
The packaging includes:
• Stretcher and additional ordered accessories
• User manual
6.5 Testing
Caution
The following check must be repeated regularly in order to verify the perfect working
condition of the article, as described in the “Maintenance” section.
Before using the article:
• Perform the “periodic review” provided for in Maintenance section
• If the check is positive, the article is ready for use, otherwise call the Sidhil customer service centre
immediately.
• The stretcher is delivered ready for use and it does not require any preliminary assembly operation.
6. INSTALLATION

7. OPERATION AND USE
Warning
Warnings Regarding Use
The E-MED stretcher has been designed and manufactured exclusively for
professional use.
Use the stretcher only as indicated in this manual.
Read the instructions carefully before using the stretcher and follow the prescribed
operating procedures.
Only use the stretcher if it is in perfect working condition.
Always sanitize the stretcher as described in the “DISINFECTION” section of this
manual.
Always advise the patient when you adjust the stretcher.
When the conditions of the patient (disorientation due to medicines or particular
clinical conditions) can cause PATIENTS’ ENTRAPMENT with the SIDE RAILS/
SHOULDERS, the PLATFORM THAT SUPPORTS THE MATTRESS must be left on
the flat position and lowered when the patient is left alone (unless differently required
by the medical staff for special or particular circumstances).
Never use the stretcher for any purpose other than that for which it was intended and
designed.
The E-MED stretchers cannot be used in explosive or flammable atmosphere.
7.1 Safe Position
The stretcher is in safe position when the spring box is on the lowest position in the horizontal with lifted
side rails, the bed extension closed and, controls on the pushbutton strip disabled and the brake enabled.
7.2 Locking the Stretcher
Mod. type with fixed height
Lock and unlock the stretcher by the brake (10) positioned on the rear wheels.
Mod. type with fixed height and with constant brake
The stretcher is always locked. You can only unlock it by pressing down the locking handle (5).

Mod. type with adjustable height
The locking device of the wheels:
• In the “A” position allows the wheels to rotate freely.
• In the “B” position allows for operating the directional block of one wheel, while at the same time
keeping the other one free.
• In the “C” position allows for locking of the wheels.
Mod. type with adjustable height
In order to lock the stretcher proceed as follows:
• With your foot, press on the outside of the pedal brake (10), (where there is the red stamp),
• Until reaching the B position.
In order to unlock the stretcher proceed as follows:
• With your foot, press on the inside of the pedal brake (where is the green stamp), until reaching the
A position.

7.3 Moving the Stretcher
Warning
Always advise the patient before performing any movement.
Warning
You can only move the stretcher on the level and rigid surface and with the side-rails
lifted. Always lock the stretcher after any movement.
Mod. type with fixed height:
• Lift the side-rails.
• Unlock the brake by the levers positioned on the rear wheels.
• Push the stretcher using the pushing handle.
Mod. type with fixed height and constant brake:
• Lift the side-rails.
• Press the locking handle and push the stretcher, always keeping the handle pressed during the
movement.
Mod. type with adjustable height:
• Lift the side-rails.
• Unlock the brake (see the section called “locking the stretcher”).
• Active the directional lock, if it is compatible with the movement to be performed.
• Push the stretcher using the pushing handle.

7.4 Lifting and Lowering the Stretcher
Warning
Always advise the patient before adjusting the stretcher’s height.
Warning
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES put objects between the base and the movable part.
DO NOT MOVE the moving parts by hand, and follow the instructions carefully.
The stretcher’s height is adjustable by pantograph devices operated by a hydraulic pump through the foot
control (11).
In order to lift the stretcher proceed as follows:
• Press the pedal repeatedly (11) until the required height is reached.

In order to lower the stretcher proceed as follows:
• Lift the pedal (11) upwards until the required height is reached.
7.5 Lifting and Lowering the Back
Warning
Always advise the patient, before lifting and lowering the back.
Warning
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES put objects between the stretcherspring’s frame
and the back section. DO NOT MOVE the moving parts by hand, and follow the
instructions carefully.
In order to lift the back proceed as follows:
• Pull up the lever and lift and guide the back gently.
• Release the lever, when the required height is reached.
In order to lower the back proceed as follows:
• Pull up the lever and lower and guide the back gently.
• Release the lever, once the required height has been reached or after that the back is completely
lowered.
