1. ALT: Bluetooth Tape Measure
1.1. Summary
ALT is the first Bluetooth-enabled tape measure dedicated to the garment industry. It helps you
easily measure and send garment size data through Bluetooth.



2. Getting Started
2.1. Powering ALT On
Press and hold Button 3 to power ALT on.

2.2. Displayed Items
With ALT powered on, you can check the status of the following items on its OLED
display.


2.3. Connecting ALT with Your Mobile Phone
Before you use the device, you must first pair it with a mobile phone. A successful
pairing establishes a unique link between ALT and the mobile phone.

1. Make sure that ALT is powered on and not already connected to any other
device. This can be confirmed by the blinking Bluetooth Connection Status icon
on ALT.
2. Make sure that the mobile phone is turned on and its Bluetooth feature is
activated.
3. On your mobile phone, run a Bluetooth scan.
4. On the list of scanned devices, select ALT to start the pairing process.
5. Confirm completion of paring as indicated by the solid Bluetooth Connection
Icon on ALT.
6. For detailed information, refer to the user manual of your mobile phone.

2.4. Sending Measurements to Your Mobile Phone
Once ALT is successfully paired with your mobile phone, you can use it to take and send
size measurements.

Send
Press Button 1 to send the current measurement to your mobile phone.

Skip
Press Button 2 to skip a measurement. This button imitates the ENTER key on your
mobile phone and sends the cursor to the next input item.

Undo
Press Button 3 to undo. This button will imitate the UNDO feature on your mobile phone
and cancel your previous action.
2.5. Changing Units
Press and hold Button 1 to change measurement units. You can select from fractional
inches, centimeters, and millimeters.


2.6. Recharging ALT’s Battery
Use the included micro USB cable to recharge ALT’s battery. You can charge via any
power adapter or USB port of your computer as long as it provides a constant voltage of
5V.

When ALT is being charged, a thunderbolt icon(ALT powered on) or a battery icon with
the text  Charging (ALT powered off) will appear on its display.



ALT’s maximum charge current is limited to 120mA and hence higher charging currents
will not necessarily induce faster charging. ALT should take around 3 hours to fully
charge and allow approximately 10 hours of constant use.

* ALT’s micro USB port is for charging purposes only and does not transfer data.

2.7. Device Status
The device status can be checked by its LED indicator.

❏Solid Blue: Connected to a mobile phone 

3. Safety Warnings
Please read all the instructions. Failure to follow any instructions listed below may result in
electric shock, fire, choking and/or serious injury.

❏DO NOT use this device for any purpose other than outlined in this manual.
❏DO NOT modify the device. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
❏DO NOT subject the device to extreme conditions: extreme temperatures beyond
operating temperatures, high vibrations, dusty area, humid conditions (including any
liquid) or direct sunlight.
❏DO NOT use excessive force to fold or twist the tape. This can damage the tape
permanently.
❏DO NOT use excessive force to pull the tape over 160 cm or 63 in. This may permanently
damage the device.
❏Be very careful when measuring neck circumference. The fiberglass tape may
accidentally cause choking.
 

4. Regulatory Information
You can check the device’s regulatory information on its e-label, which can be accessed by
following these steps below.

Step 1. Connect a power source to the device using the charging port and a USB cable.
Step 2. Press and hold Button 2 and Button 3 simultaneously, for 2 seconds.
Step 3. Toggle through e-label pages by pressing Button 1.
4.1. FCC
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following
two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device
must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired
operation.

FCC Caution
Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for
compliance could void the user's authority to operate this equipment. This transmitter
must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or
transmitter.

FCC Interference Statement
This device has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital
device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This
device generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and
used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio
communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation. If this device does cause harmful interference to radio or
television reception, which can be determined by turning the device off and on, the user
is encouraged to correct the interference by one of the following measures:
❏Reorient or relocate the device.
❏Increase the separation between the device and the receiver.
❏Connect the device into an outlet on a circuit different from which the receiver is
connected.

4.3. E-Labeling
You can access regulatory information through the device’s display, as below.

Starting from Main Screen:
1. Connect a power source to the device using the charging port and a USB cable.
2. Press and hold Button 2 and Button 3 to view the device’s serial number.
3. Press Button 1 to toggle to view certification IDs.

5. Limited Warranty
Bagel Labs represents and warrants that this device, for a period of one (1) year from the
applicable delivery date of each unit, will substantially conform to any applicable specifications
and documentation; and will be free from defects in measurement accuracy and device
performance, materials and workmanship, except to the extent of damage caused by gross
negligence, misuse, excessive wear or modifications to the units that were not authorized by
Bagel Labs.
