Safety
Who This procedure is intended for use only by qualified ser ice technicians who ha e been
trained and authorized by BARCO !
Hot Surface Switch the projector to stand by and let it cool down for at least 15 minutes before
starting with the LCD + X-Cube replacement.
Risk of Electrical
Shock
Power down the projector and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Once the projector is cooled down and the power is off, continue with the replacement
procedure.
Antistatic
Protection Steps
Wear a wrist band which is connected to the ground while handling the static sensiti e
parts.
Sensitive Device LCD panels are ery sensiti e de ices. Obser e full precautions for handling electro-
static de ices. Do not touch the glass surface. Hold only by the surrounding metal
parts.

Contents of the Kit
Type The kit contains a LCD + X-Cu e to e mounted in a R6*00 or a SIM6 series projector.
Attention ! LCD panels are very sensitive devices. O serve full precautions for handling electro-
static devices. Do not touch the glass surface and the anti-reflective coating. Hold only
y the surrounding metal parts.

Wear a wrist and which is connected to the ground while handling the static sensitive
parts.

Access to the X-CUBE+LCD unit
Removing the
Lens
To remove the lens, follow the next proced re:

Open the lens cover by pivoting it backwards and nhook
it.
Loosen the fixation screws of the motor part and pivote it
pwards.
Open both lens locks by p lling them backwards.
Take the lens o t of the lens ho se.

For the R6*00: The lens has to be removed and the top cover has te be removed.
For the RSIM6: There is no need to remove the lens, j st the top cover has te be
removed (see next page).

Removing the X-CUBE+LCD Unit
What has to be
done
The X-Cube+LCD unit has to be ta en out of the projector.
Necessary Tools Screwdriver 8 mm.
Electrical
disconnection of
the X-Cube.
Before removing the X-Cube, it must be electrically disconnected from the driver board.
Follow the next procedure:

Press very carefully on both sides of the
cable loc to unloc .
Pull out the cable.
Disconnect the power connection on top of
the Analog Buffer.

Removing the X-
Cube BufferUnit
To remove the LCD + X-cube unit together with the Analog Buffer unit, follow the next
procedure:

Loosen both fixation screws on the base of the X-cube
using a Philips screwdriver with a shaft of minimum 150
mm.
Ta e out the unit from the main frame very carefully.

Disassembling the X-CUBE+LCD Unit
What has to be
done
The X-Cube+LCD unit has to be isassemble (Separating the LCD analog buffer).
Necessary Tools Screw river 8 mm.
Nut river 5.5
Philips screw river
Electrical
disconnection of
the X-Cube.
Before isassembling the X-Cube unit, the LCD panels must be electrically iscon-
necte from the Analog buffer. Follow the next proce ure:

Press very carefully on both si es of the
cable lock to unlock.
Pull out the cable (see image 1).

Disassembling
the X-cube unit
To isassemble the X-cube unit, follow the next proce ure:

Turn out the 4 fixing screws with Philips screw river.
Take off the unit.
Turn out the 4 fixing screws with a nut river or flat screw-
river.
Take off the metal unit hol er.
Turn out the 4 spacers an remove the washers

The X-Cube+LCD unit h s to be re- ssembled.
Necessary Tools Screwdriver 8 mm.
Nutdriver 5.5
Philips screwdriver

Assembling the
X-cube Assembly
To ssemble the X-cube ssembly, follow the next procedure:

Turn in the 4 sp cers on the X-Cube.
Put the met l unit holder on the inserted sp cers.
Secure the position of the met l pl te with 4 screws nd
w sher, using nutdriver or fl t screwdriver.
Put the An log buffer unit on the sp cers of the support
pl te.
Secure the position with the 4 fix tion screws (Philips
screwdriver).

Mounting the X-CUBE+LCD unit
What has to be
done
The X-Cube+LCD unit h s to be mounted in the projector.
Necessary Tools Screwdriver 5 mm.

Slide the X-cube+LCD unit into the projector very c refully,
f cing its frontside (no p nel) to the lens opening.
Secure the postion of the X-Cube+LCD on the b se with
the 2 screws of the removed one. Use fl t screwdriver
with sh ft of 150mm to tighten the screws.

Re-installing the covers and the lens
What has to be
done
The projector top cover has to be mounted and the lens installed
Necessary Tools Screwdriver 5 mm
Installing the Top

Put the top cover on its place
Turn in the 3 fixation screws
Cover the screws by insertion of the 3 rubber cover peaces

Installing the
Lens
To installal the lens (only for R6*00), follow the next procedure

Loosen (B) the lens motor unit (A) and lift up
Insert the lens in the lens house
Turn the lens clockwise until both notches fit in the lens
Secure the position of the lens by pushing the lens locks
(C) forward until they lock
Pivote the motor part downwards
For zoom lenses: ensure that the teeth of the lens motor
match those of the tooth profile (D) If not, turn the lens a
little
