General Information
o This appliance is designed f r d mestic h useh ld use and f r
the c king and frying f d mestic f dstuffs.
o IMPORTANT: The adjacent furniture and all materials used in
the installation must be able to withstand a minimum
temperature of 85°C above the ambient temperature of the
room it is located in, whilst in use.
o Certain types f vinyl r laminate kitchen furniture are
particularly pr ne t heat damage r disc l urati n at
temperatures bel w the guidelines given ab ve.
o Any damage caused by the appliance being installed in
c ntraventi n f this temperature limit, will be the liability of
the owner
o Y ur new appliance is guaranteed against electrical r
mechanical defects, subject t certain exclusi ns that are n ted

Child Safety

o If fat and il verheats, then it can ignite extremely quickly. F r
this reas n, when c king with fat and il the appliance sh uld
n t be left unattended.
o Make sure that all f the c king z nes are switched ff after use.

Cleaning
o Cleaning f the h b sh uld be carried ut n a regular basis.
o IMPORTANT: Before attempting to clean the appliance, it
should be disconnected from the mains and cool.
o Great care sh uld be taken whilst using this appliance and when
f ll wing the cleaning pr cedure.
o Y u sh uld n t use a steam jet r any ther high pressure
cleaning equipment t clean the appliance.
Installation
This appliance must be correctly installed by a
GASSAFE registered installer, strictly in accordance
with the manufacturer’s instructions and the
relevant British Standards Please see the specific
section of this booklet that refers to installation
o The manufacturer declines any responsibility for injury or
damage, to person or property, as a result of improper
use or installation of this appliance
o If the appliance is being used in a Leisure Accommodation
Vehicle, the requirements of N 721 MUST be followed
o The manufacturer DOES NOT recommend that this
appliance is installed on any type of marine vessel

Using the gas hob
Before first use
IMPORTANT: You should clean the hob surface see
“Cleaning and maintenance” section).
Switching the hob on
The f ll wing symb ls will appear n the c ntr l panel, next t each
c ntr l kn b:
= gas ff
Large flame: maximum setting
Small flame: minimum setting
o The minimum setting is at the end f the anti-cl ckwise r tati n f
the c ntr l kn b.
o All perati n p siti ns must be selected between the maximum and
minimum p siti n.
o Never select a kn b p siti n between the maximum and ff
p siti n.
o The symb l n the c ntr l panel, next t the c ntr l kn b will
indicate which gas burner it perates.
Automatic ignition with flame failure safety device
The appliance is fitted with a flame failure safety device on each
burner, which is designed to stop the flow of gas to the burner head in
the event of the flame going out.
T ignite a burner:
o Press in the c ntr l kn b f the burner that y u wish t light and
turn it anti-cl ckwise t the maximum p siti n.
o If y u keep the c ntr l kn b depressed, the aut matic igniti n f r
the burner will perate.
o Y u sh uld h ld d wn the c ntr l kn b f r 20 sec nds after the
flame n the burner has lit.
o After this 20 sec nd interval, turn the c ntr l kn b t y ur required
setting between the maximum and minimum setting symb ls.

o T switch the burner ff, turn the c ntr l kn b fully cl ckwise t the
gas ff p siti n.
o In case f p wer failure, the burners can be lit by carefully using a
match.

o The diametre f the b tt m f the pan sh uld c rresp nd t that f
the burner.
o The burner flame must never extend bey nd the diametre f the
pan.
o Use flat b tt med pans nly.
o When p ssible, keep a lid n the pan whilst c king.
o C k vegetables with as little water as p ssible, t reduce c king
times.
IMPORTANT: Always place pans centrally over the hob burners and
position them so that the handles cannot get accidentally caught or
knocked off. You should also make sure that the handle is not over one
of the other hob burner flames.

Cleaning
Cleaning operations must only be carried out when the
hob is cool
The appliance should be disconnected from your mains
supply before commencing any cleaning process
Cleaning the hob top
Any residues that are left n the h b t p surface fr m cleaning
agents will damage it. Y u sh uld rem ve any residues with
warm s apy water.
Abrasive cleaners r sharp bjects will damage the h b surface;
y u sh uld clean it using warm s apy water.
Although it is easier to clean some deposits whilst the
hob surface is still warm, make sure that the hob surface,
pan supports and hob burners have all cooled sufficiently
before you attempt to touch them
After each use
o Rem ve the pan stands and wipe the appliance ver with a s ft,
damp cl th that has been put int warm s apy water. The cl th
sh uld be wrung ut after being taken ut f the s apy water.
o Dry the appliance by rubbing the surface with a s ft, clean cl th.
o We w uld rec mmend that an appr priate stainless steel cleaner
and p lish is regularly used n the stainless steel surfaces f this
appliance.
Cleaning the hob burners
The h b burners sh uld be cleaned nce a week r m re frequently if
they get s iled.
o IMPORTANT: Make sure that the hob surface, pan stands and
hob burners have cooled before you attempt to touch them.
o Rem ve the h b burners by pulling them upwards and away
fr m the h b t p.
o S ak them f r ab ut ten minutes in h t water and a little
detergent.
o After cleaning and washing them, wipe and dry them carefully.

o Bef re placing the burners back n the h b t p, make sure that
the gas jet is not blocked
o IMPORTANT: Make sure that you reassemble the burners in the
original way.
Maintaining the cast iron pan stands
(BGHU610/BGHU700 only)
o IMPORTANT: Make sure that the hob surface and pan stands
have cooled before you attempt to touch them.
o Wipe the pan stands ver with a s ft, damp cl th that has been
put int warm s apy water. The cl th sh uld be wrung ut after
being taken ut f the s apy water.
o Using a paper t wel, th r ughly dry the pan stands.
o T maintain the appearance f the cast ir n pan stands, we
w uld rec mmend that y u rub a small am unt f live il int
the pan stands, after y u have finished cleaning them.

The installation must be carried out by a GASSAFE
registered installer, in accordance with the current
version of the following
o Gas Safety Regulati ns (Installati n & Use)
o Building Regulati ns (issued by the Department f Envir nment)
o Building Standards (Issued by the Sc ttish Devel pment
Department)
o IEE Wiring Regulati ns
o Electricity at W rk Regulati ns BS 6172

Positioning
The adjacent furniture must be able to withstand a minimum
temperature rise of 85°C above the ambient temperature of
the room it is located in, during periods of use

* 700 mm (BGHU700SS)
o This appliance can be l cated in a kitchen, a kitchen diner r a bed
sitting r m. IMPORTANT: The appliance must not be installed in a
bathroom or shower room.
This appliance is classified as Class 3 and theref re is t be built int a
kitchen unit (depending n size) r 600mm w rkt p, pr viding the
f ll wing minimum distances are all wed:
o The edges f the h b must be a minimum distance f 55 mm fr m
a side r rear wall.
o 700 mm between the highest p int f the h b surface (including the
burners) and the underside f any h riz ntal surface directly ab ve
it.
o 400 mm between the h b surface, pr viding that the underside f
the h riz ntal surface is in line with the uter edge f the h b. If
the underside f the h riz ntal surface is l wer than 400 mm, then
it must be at least 50 mm away fr m the uter edges f the h b.
o 50 mm clearance ar und the appliance and between the h b
surface and any c mbustible materials.

All models
o IMPORTANT: You must have a gap of at least 25 mm between
the underneath of the appliance and any surface that is below it.
o Carefully turn the h b upside d wn and place it n a cushi ned
mat.
o Apply the sealing strip (A) pr vided ar und the edge f the
appliance.
o The pr tective c vering must be rem ved fr m b th sides.
o D n t leave a gap in the sealing agent r verlap the thickness.
o IMPORTANT: Do not use a silicon sealant to seal the appliance
against the aperture. This will make it difficult to remove the hob
from the aperture in future if it needs to be serviced.

o Place the clamp (B) ver the h les that match the size f the
screws. There are ne set f screw h les in each c rner f the
h b. Slightly tighten a screw (C) thr ugh the clamp (B) s that
the clamp is attached t the h b, but s that y u can still adjust
the p siti n f it.
o Carefully turn the h b back ver and then gently l wer it int the
aperture h le that y u have cut ut.
o On the underneath f the h b, adjust the clamps int a p siti n
that is suitable f r y ur w rkt p. Then fully tighten the screws
(C) t secure the h b int p siti n.
Gas connection
This appliance must be installed by a competent
person in accordance with the current versions of
the following UK (United Kingdom) or ROI (Republic
of Ireland) Regulations and Safety Standards or
their European Norm Replacements
