3.4 Output
The output provides an SELV/PELV nominal voltage that is electrically isolated from the input voltage.
The output is designed to supply any type of load, including capacitive and inductive loads. If very large
capacitors, such as EDLCs (electrical double-layer capacitors or "UltraCaps") with a capacitance > 0.6F are
connected to the output, the device can charge the capacitor intermittently.
The output is electronically protected against overload, no-load and short circuit. Noise may be audible in the
case of a protective event.
Output
Output voltage Nom. DC 24V
Adjustment range Min. 24 - 28V Guaranteed value
Max. 30V 2) In end position of the potentiometer, clockwise.
Factory settings Typ. 24.1V ±0.2%, under full load and cold device
Line regulation Max. 10mV 180 - 300Vac
Load regulation Max. 150mV 0A → 20A, static value, see fig. Output voltage over output current, typ.
Residual ripple and ripple
voltage
Max. 100mVpp 20Hz to 20MHz, 50Ohm
Output current 3) Nom. 20A At 24V and ambient temperature below 55°C
Nom. 15.0A At 28V and ambient temperature below 55°C,
Nom. 17.1A At 24V and an ambient temperature of 70°C
Nom. 12.8A At 28V and an ambient temperature of 70°C
Overload characteristics Continuous cur-
rent
Output voltages >13Vdc (dependent on the input voltage), see fig. Output voltage over
output current, typ.
Hiccup mode 1) Output voltage <13Vdc (dependent on the input voltage), see fig. Output voltage over
output current
Overload/
short circuit current
Max. 24A Continuous current, see fig. Output voltage to output current, typ.
Typ. 25A Peak current value in intermittent operation for typically 1s
Load impedance 50mOhm, see Fig. Output voltage over output current, typ.
The discharge current of the output capacitors is not included.
Max. 8.1A RMS value of the current in intermittent operation,
load impedance 50mOhm, see fig. Output voltage to output current, typ.
Output capacity Typ. 4,300µF Included in the power supply
Back-feeding loads Max. 35V This power supply is stable and will not malfunction if a load is feeding back voltage to
the power supply. It is irrelevant whether the power supply is switched on or off. The ab-
sorbent energy can be calculated according to the large built-in output capacitor.
1) Hiccup mode
In case of heavy overload (if the output voltage falls below 13V) the power supply supplies output current for 3 to 4 seconds. There-
after the output is switched off for about 7 seconds before a new switch-on attempt automatically takes place for a duration of 0.6 sec-
onds. This cycle is repeated as long as the overload persists. After the overload has been rectified, the device will operate normally.
2) This is the maximum output voltage that can occur in the end position of the potentiometer in clockwise direction due to tolerances. It
is not a guaranteed value that can be achieved.
3) Linear derating between +55°C and 70°C ambient temperature
