r All doors, covers and panels are not closed and secured in place prior to and during instrument operation.
r The integrity of safety interlocks and sensors is compromised.
r Instrument alarms and error messages are not acknowledged and acted upon.
r You contact moving parts.
r You mishandle broken parts.
r Doors, covers and panels are not opened, closed, removed and/or replaced with care.
r Improper tools are used for troubleshooting.
To avoid injury:
r Keep doors, covers and panels closed and secured in place while the instrument is in use.
r Take full advantage of the safety features of the instrument. Do not defeat safety interlocks and sensors.
r Acknowledge and act upon instrument alarms and error messages.
r Keep away from moving parts.
r Report any broken parts to your Beckman Coulter Representative.
r Open/remove and close/replace doors, covers and panels with care.
r Use the proper tools when troubleshooting.

CONTROL PANEL
UNPACKING THE PRINTER
1. POWER Switch
Supplies power to the printer.
2. LF button
Feeds paper when the printer is offline.
3. SEL button
Sets printer online to the instrument.
4. SEL lamp
Lights when the printer is online. Printer will
function only when this lamp is on.
5. POWER lamp
Lights when POWER switch is ON.

1Unpack the printer. The box should include:
1. CITIZEN Dot Matrix Printer Model
iDP 3110.
2. 7-V, 1.2 A ac adapter.
3. 2 ribbon ink cassettes
4. standard Centronics data cable
5. 2 rolls of printer paper.
2Remove the printer from all the packing
materials.
3Locate the Dipswitch inside the printer
cover. Ensure that the switches are set as
shown.

1Ensure that the printer’s power switch is off.
2Remove the printer cover by holding it as
shown and lifting up.
3Turn the knob (1) to take up the ribbon
slack.
4Press down on the ribbon cassette while
inserting the ribbon between the printing
head (3) and the platen (2).

5Replace the printer cover.

3Connect the data cable to the printer, as
shown.
4Connect the roll printer to the AC·T
analyzer with the data cable, as shown.

2Plug the ac adapter directly into the
outlet. Do not use an extension cord.

1Remove the printer cover by holding it as
shown and lifting up.
2Ensure that the end of the paper is straight.
Insert the end of the roll into the slot of the
printer mechanism.

3Turn the printer on. The POWER and SEL
lamps light.
4Press the SEL button, then press the LF button
until 1.5 to 2 inches of paper feed out of the
printer mechanism.
5Move the paper holder to the right, insert the
paper, then secure the roll with the holder.

6Replace the printer cover so that the end of the
paper comes out of the opening in the cover.

1Ensure that the paper and the ribbon cassete
are loaded correctly. Turn the power switch
OFF.
2Hold down the LF button while turning the
power switch ON.

3When the self-printing operation starts,
release the LF button. To end self-printing,
turn the power switch OFF.
