RAMPAGE PRESOLDERED KIT V1 - ASSEMBLY GUIDE – Rev. May. 19
THANKS FOR CHOOSING ONE OF OUR SEMI KITS!
What you have here is a semi kit, where all components are soldered in the boards and you will be doing
the nal assembly of mechanical components, testing and calibration.
This is a quite complex build. If you are not an experienced IYer you might nd yourself in trouble. Some
steps are not obvious, and some components tricky to solder, so even if you're an experienced IYer
please read the steps thoroughly before starting.
Also, even if this is a semi kit, TROUBLESHOOTING SKILLS ARE MANDATORY and you should be an
expe ienced DIYe with basic schematics eading skills.
This semi kit is not suitable fo beginne s.
HAVE FUN!
First thing we will do, before soldering is taking both boards apart. Please be gentle and make sure no
pieces of pcb are left In the borders.
We will be working mostly with control board, where all mechanical components are soldered. Remember
components are placed on silkscreen side.
TRIMMERS
Solder he wo 10k rimmers a “SYMETRY_A” and “SYMETRY_”B on he reverse side of he PCB (opposi e side o he
componen s) wi h he screws facing he edge of he PCB.
FADERS
Solder he faders on o he PCB a he posi ions indica ed by he silkscreen on he opposi e side of he board o mos
of he componen s (bu he same side as he wo rimmer po en iome ers you previously soldered).
Q y Name on PCB
4 FALL_POT, FALL_POT_B, RISE_POT, RISE_POT_B
SPACERS
Secure he spacers on o he board ( hrough he holes wi h silver ou lines) wi h he main body of he spacer on he
componen side, and he nu on he opposi e. This spacer will be used o fix main board o con rol one.
FRONT PANEL COMPONENTS MOUNTING TIPS:
Now we will proceed o moun he jacks, po en iome er, swi ches and LEDs. This par of he assembly is CRITICAL. Please
ake your ime and read he following ins ruc ions carefully.
These componen s mus NOT be soldered un il hey are placed on he PCB and fully a ached o he fron panel.
There are wo reasons for his:
•The heigh of he panel componen s are no all he same. Because of his, if no a ached properly before
soldering, hey will no s ay properly sea ed agains he panel. This migh cause mechanical s ress reducing
heir life expec ancy and in he wors case cause hem o break.
•The second reason is ha i is very difficul o align he componen s o he holes if he panel is no posi ioned
prior o soldering. In he case of he LEDs, hey are almos impossible o se o he correc heigh wi hou
reference o he fron panel.

OPEN MINI-JACKS BAG
MINI-JACKS
Place he mini-jacks on he PCB ensuring hey are on he side wi h he silkscreen bu don't sold r th m until th
front pan l is in plac , wi h all nu s screwed o i . This way i 's easier o solder hem in he righ posi ion. Keep in
mind ha he fron panel holes are qui e narrow and i is almos impossible o place i wi h all he componen s
already soldered.
Caution: he swi ch nu s and he jack nu s looks he same bu hey are no and will no fi in each o hers' hread so
don' mix hem!
POTENTIOMETERS
Now place he po en iome er on he PCB. Do no place hem all he way down, leave hem loose and... don't sold r
th m y t!
Q y Type Name on PCB
2 Dual (6pin) 10K SHAPE_A, SHAPE_B
1 Single (3pin) 1M CROSSFADER
SWITCHES
Remove he wo nu s and he abbed washer from he oggle swi ches. Discard one nu and he abbed washer, bu
keep one nu for securing o he fron panel la er. Place he four oggle swi ches on he PCB bu don't sold r th m
ye .
You will know which ones are he wo and hree posi ion swi ches because when swi ching, wo will have jus wo
posi ions i can res in and he o her wo will have a hird res posi ion (in he cen er).
Remove he nu and he washer from he push bu on. Now fi he push bu on on o he PCB bu again...don’t sold r
it y t.
Q y Type Name on PCB
2 Single wo posi ion CYCLE_A, CYCLE_B
2 Single ree posi ion RANGE_1, RANGE_2
2 Push Bu on M_TRIG_A, M_TRIG_B
LEDs
Place he LEDs on o he PCB minding heir polari y, bu don't sold r th m un il he fron panel is in place. This is
he only way o solder hem in he righ posi ion.
The long leg is he posi ive and he shor he nega ive. On he PCB he square pad indica es he nega ive side and
here is a + symbol o indica e he posi ive.
Q y Name on PCB
9 F_A_LED, F_B_LED, LED_A, LED_A>B, LED_B, LED_MAX, LED_MIN, R_A_LED, R_B_LED

FRONT PANEL
A ach he front pan l adjus ing he par s one by one if necessary un il i fi s. A his poin a pair of fine weezers
can be helpful.
To Finish:
- Screw in he par s in his order: A) Mini-jacks B) Switch s C) Pots D) Push buttons
- Ensuring all of he above par s are flush wi h he panel hen you can finally sold r hem!
- Nex , adjus he LEDs so ha hey are flush wi h he panel and solder hem.
- Connec he main PCB o he control PCB by hreading he 2x M3 screws hrough he main PCB and
securing hem o he 2 spacers. The main PCB should be orien a ed so ha he componen side is facing owards he
fron panel.
- Pu he knobs on he po en iome ers and he red end-caps on he swi ches/faders.
CALIBRATION
Some imes, due o he olerance of he po en iome er, he response of he SHAPE po may no be qui e symme rical.
If his is he case, adjus SYMETRY_A and SYMETRY_B rimmers as required.
To do his:
1. Connec he Rampage's OUT A o an oscilloscope. A sof ware oscilloscope on your compu er is fine bu in his
case he signal needs o be a enua ed o avoid clipping. If a enua ion is needed you can use he MAX OUT
in place of OUT A and adjus he ampli ude wi h he BALANCE po
2. Se RANGE swi ch A o MID (bo om posi ion).
3. Se he CYCLE Swi ch A o CYCLE (Top posi ion).
4. Push he manual rigger A (TRIGG) bu on, o pu your rampage in o oscilla ion.
5. Se RISE and FALL faders a minimum.
6. Turn he SHAPE A po o he cen er (so you have a perfec riangle wave on your scope). Check if rise and
fall imes are equal. If so you are done. If no go o he nex s ep.
7. Turn he SYMETRY_A rimmer and ry o ma ch (as much as possible) he rise and fall imes.
8. Repea he previous s eps for SYMETRY B.
