AirworthinessLimitationsAsectionoftheInstructionsforContinuedAirworthiness(ICA)thatcontainseach
mandatoryreplacementtime,inspectioninterval,andrelatedinspectiontask
(429-A-04-00-00-00A-009A-A).TheinformationcontainedintheAirworthiness
Limitationssectionmaybechangedtoreectserviceand/ortestexperienceor
newanalysismethods.
CalendarTimeTheelapsedtimeapplicabletoaspeciedcalendarinterval.Theelapsedtime
startsonthedaytheinspectioniscompleted,thecomponentisinstalled,orthe
rotoristurnedforthersttimeandendsonthedaythatthetimelimitexpires.For
example,ifarepetitiveinspectiontaskwithacalendartimeof1yeariscompleted
onJune10th,thetaskwouldneedtobesubsequentlyperformedonJune10th
ofthefollowingyear.Calendartimeiscontinuous.Calendartimedoesnotstop

Anelectricalconnectionbetweentwoormorepointsincludingtheassociated
terminationdevices(e.g.,connectors,terminalblocks,splices)andthenecessary
meansforitsinstallationandidentication.Itdoesnotincludesystemcomponents
(linereplaceableunits),relays,lights,etc.
Examine,VisuallyLookcarefullytodeterminetheconditionofapart/component.Findhowthat
conditionrelatestoaspecicstandard.
FailureTheinabilityofanitemtoperformwithinpreviouslyspeciedlimits.
FaultAnidentiableconditioninwhichoneelementofaredundantsystemhasfailed
(nolongeravailable)withoutimpactontherequiredfunctionoutputofthesystem.

Time-in-Service(FlightTime)and/orCalendarTime.
OperationalCheckAtasktodeterminethatanitemisfulllingitsintendedpurpose.Itdoesnot
requirequantitativetolerances.Thisisafailurendingtask.
Program,Lead-The-Fleet(LTF)Aprogramusedtovalidatetheperformanceofanapprovedproductimprovement
orachangetoamaintenanceinterval.Theengineeringaspectsofthischange
areapproved.TheprogramiscloselymonitoredbyBellHelicopterT extron(BHT)
inanoperationalenvironmentwithselectedoperators.
Program,SpecialAnapprovedprogramthatmaybeinitiatedundercertainspecialconditionsto
meetspecicrequirements.Theprogramisclearlydenedthroughaplanandthe
engineeringandmaintenanceaspectsareapprovedbytheregulatoryauthorities.
ProtectiveDeviceAnydeviceorsystemthathasafunctiontoavoid,eliminate,orreducethe
consequencesofaneventorthefailureofsomeotherfunction.
ResidualFuelTheamountofunusablefuelthatcanbedrained.
RetirementIndexNumber(RIN)Thisisforcomponentssensitivetooperationalevents,suchasnormallandings,
run-onlandings,andautorotationlandings.Thisnumberisbasedonthefatigue
damagethatresultsfromtheseevents.

anairbornereplenishmentofxedinternalorexternalreservoirs
ZoneAlimitedareaofthehelicopterthatmaycontainmorethanonesystemor
component,whetherrelatedornot.Azoneincludesallofthestructural
assemblies,mechanicalassemblies,mechanicalsystems,andElectricalWire
InterconnectionSystems(EWIS)containedwithinthezonelimits(BHT-429-MM,
Chapter6).
