General
This high frequency magnet mount antenna has a built-
in ground
plane, and provides up to 5dB gain. Due to it’s int
egral ground plane, it
can readily be used in all applications, and is not required to be
mounted on a metal surface.
Mounting on a Vehicle
The IMAG antennas
can be placed at virtually any location on the
vehicle. The powerful magnet will hold to virtually
any metallic surface.
The best location for the IMAG would be on top of the vehicle at the
centre of the roof. Other locations can provide adequate performance,
including the trunk/boot or roof. The location chosen is only limited by
the length of cable.
Before placing on the vehicle, you should have a
clean surface. This will prevent scratching of the vehicle surface.
Note:
It is usually dirt on the vehicle surface that causes scratches.
Connecting the Antenna
To connect the IMAG to your radio, you must
route the cable to the
inside of the vehicle. To do this, you may need to leave a car window
slightly cracked open. Some people prefer to run the antenna in
through the moulding of a door or hatchback. If you do this, you must
be careful to not severely pi
nch the cable. This may damage it and
prevent proper operation. To attach to your phone, simply remove the
existing antenna, and screw on the connector from the IMAG.
Maintenance
The IMAG antennas do not generally require any maintenance.
However, it is a
good idea to occasionally remove the IMAG from your
vehicle. This will allow any moisture, which has accumulated under the
IMAG to dry. Preventing any discoloration of the vehicle surface.
Removal
You should never remove the IMAG by pulling it by the cab
le. This
may damage the cable connection at the magnet mount base. It is
also not a good idea to slide the magnet along the surface of a vehicle.
Dirt buildup would cause scratches in such a case.
To properly remove the magnet, grip the silver ground plan
e with one
hand, and tilt the magnet off the surface of the vehicle.
