INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
The
Dichro
45S
Colorhead
isa
self-containedunit,
andis
shippedwith
a 4x5
diffusion
mixingchamber
and250
wattlamp
in
place.
To
mount
the
colorhead
onto
a
Beseler
4x5
enlarger
for
diffusion
printing,
just
followthesesimpleinstructions:
A.
If
your
enlarger
is
equippedwith
a
Resistrol
accessory,
unplug
it,asit
cannot
be
used
in
con-
junction
with
the
colorhead.
B.
Adjust
the
negative stage
of the
enlarger
to the
4"x5"
position
onthe
negativesizescale. Lock
the
negative
stage
in
place
by
tightening
the
negative
stage
lockknob
on
yourenlarger.
NOTE:
The
illuminationsystem
ofthe
colorhead
requiresthat
the
upperbellowsremain
inthe4x5
position
(fully
collapsed)duringdiffusionprinting
with
all
negative
sizes.

screws
holding

size
scale

place

return

BLACK
AND
WHITE
PRINTING
The
Dichro
45Smaybe
used
for
black
and
white
printing
in
either
the
Condenser
(optional)
or
Dif-
fusion
mode.Because
ofthe
nature
ofthe
black
and
white
negative,
a
condensersystemprovideshigher
contrast
and
moreapparent
definition
However,
where
dust
and
scratches
maybea
problem,
orfor
negatives
that
have
beenretouched,
a
diffusionsys-
tem
willproducecleanerlooking
prints
and
minimize
the
necessity
for
spotting.
It
is
generallydesirable
tosetall
filtration
dials
toget
readouts
as
close
as
possible
to
"000"duringblack
and
whiteprinting.Whenprintingwithvariablecon-
trast
papers,
the
colorhead
canbe
used
to
control
contrast,
without
the
need
ofan
additional
setof
filters.
The
