Why Use A Heart Rate Monitor
Using a heart rate monitor will provide you with a reliable way to track your fitness
progress, by measuring how efficient your heart is working when you are exercising. It
also enables you to keep training at the right level of intensity, by giving you immediate
objective feedback on how hard you are working.
We strongly recommend that you start exercising slowlyat a light intensity and gradually
increase the intensity of your exercise to raise your heart rate. This way youknow you
are exercising safely. Your heart rate monitor is the perfect tool to help youdo this.

Getting Started
Putting on your heart rate belt
Wear the Heart Rate Belt on your chest with the sensor over your heart for detection of
the heart rate.
1. You will notice that there are two long grooved oval patches on the inside of the heart
rate belt. These are the electrode sensors for detecting your heart rate. Before youput on
the heart rate belt, wet these patches lightly with water or a conductive gel using your
index finger so that the sensors can better detect your heart rate.
2. Open up the belt by unbuckling one of the side clasps that connects the fabric strap to
the plastic strap.
3. Wrap the heart rate chest belt across your chest. Adjust the tightness of the strap so that
the strap sits snugly and comfortably just below your pectoral muscle. Close the clasp.
4. Check that the wet electrode areas are firmly pressed against your skin and that the
logo is in a central upright position.

5. Press the Stop/Next button to start displaying the heart rate in the Time/Date mode (the
default mode on starting). Ifa heart rate is detected by the receiver unit, the heart symbol
should flash on the receiver display, and your beats per minutes should be displayed
at the bottom.
Receiver Unit
Clip the receiver unit securely to your belt, sports bra, or chest pocket; make sure that the
unit will not fall out during vigorous exercise.
Headphones
Wear the headphone as you would for a portable audio player or similar device. The
headphones should be connected to the top jack of the receiver unit.

whether it is a personalFM radio or MP3 player, allowing you to listen to your favourite
tunes while also listening to the audio announcements of the heart rate monitor unit.
To connect the heart rate monitor to your audio unit:
Remove any headphone set that may be attached to your audio device. Store safely away.
In the same output jack, plug in the audio connector cable from the FP402 Audio Heart
Rate Monitor.
Note:
1. You must securelyclip your audio device when exercising.
2. You should wrap up and clip excess length of the wire together so it does not
impede movement.

If you do not wish to connect your heart rate monitor to any audio device, you can
remove the audio connector cable from your unit.
Please Note that in order to get the best and most accurate result from the Heart
Rate Belt, the volume of our audio entertainment must not be loud otherwise it will
be influencing the measurement , mistaking it as your heart beat making your result
inevitably inaccurate even when you didn’t expect to measure the heart rate.
Caution
