1. Work area safety
a. Keep work areaclean and well lit. Clutteredanddark
areasinviteaccidents.
b. Do notoperate power toolsin explosiveatmospheres,
such as inthe presence of flammable liquids, gasesor
dust.Powertoolscreatesparkswhichmayignitethedustor
fumes.
c. Keep childrenand bystanders away while operating a
powertool.Distractionscan causeyoutolose control.
2. Electrical safety
a. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify
the plug inany way. Do not use anyadapter plugs with
earthed (grounded) powertools. Unmodifiedplugsand
matchingoutletswillreducerisk ofelectricshock.
b. Avoidbody contact withearthed or grounded surfaces
suchaspipes,radiators,rangesandrefrigerators.There
isanincreasedriskofelectricshockifyourbodyisearthedor
grounded.
c. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
Waterenteringapower tool will increase theriskofelectric
shock.
d. Donot abusethe cord.Neverusethecordforcarrying,
pulling or unplugging thepower tool. Keep cordaway
fromheat,oil,sharpedgesormovingparts.Damagedor
entangledcordsincreasetheriskofelectricshock.
e. Whenoperatinga power tool outdoors, use an
extension cordsuitable foroutdoor use.Useof acord
suitableforoutdooruse reducestheriskofelectricshock.
f. If operating a power tool in a damp location is
unavoidable, use aresidual current device (RCD)
protectedsupply.Use of anRCD reducestheriskof
electricshock.
3. Personal safety
a. Stay alert, watch what youare doing anduse common
sensewhenoperatingapowertool.Donotuseapower
tool whileyou are tiredor under theinfluence of drugs,
alcoholor medication. Amomentof inattentionwhile
operatingpower toolsmayresultinseriouspersonalinjury.
b. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye
protection.Protectiveequipmentsuchasdustmask,non-
skidsafetyshoes,hardhat,orhearingprotectionusedfor
appropriateconditions will reducepersonalinjuries.
c. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switchis in
theoff-positionbeforeconnectingtopowersourceand/
orbatterypack,pickingupor carryingthe tool.Carrying
powertoolswithyourfingerontheswitchor energising
powertoolsthathavethe switchoninvitesaccidents.
d. Removeanyadjustingkeyorwrenchbeforeturningthe
powertool on. Awrenchorakeyleftattachedto a rotating
partof thepowertoolmayresultinpersonalinjury.
e. Donotoverreach.Keepproperfootingandbalanceatall
times. Thisenablesbettercontrolofthepower tool in
unexpectedsituations.
f. Dressproperly. Donot wearlooseclothing orjewellery.
Keep your hair, clothing and glovesaway from moving
parts.Looseclothes,jewelleryorlonghaircanbecaughtin
movingparts.
g. Ifdevices are providedfor the connectionof dust
extraction and collection facilities,ensure these are
connected and properly used. Useof thesedevicescan
reducedust relatedhazards
4. Power tool use and care
a. Donot force the power tool. Use the correctpower tool
foryour application.Thecorrectpowertoolwilldothejob
betterandsaferat therateforwhichitwasdesigned.
b. Do not use the powertool if the switch doesnot turn it
onandoff.Anypowertoolthatcannotbecontrolledwiththe
switchis dangerousandmustbe repaired.
c. Disconnect theplug from the power source and/or the
battery packfrom the powertool beforemaking any
adjustments, changing accessories,or storing power
tools.Suchpreventivesafety measuresreducetheriskof
startingthe power toolaccidentally.
d. Storeidle powertoolsout of the reachof childrenand
do not allowpersons unfamiliar with the power toolor
theseinstructionstooperatethepowertool.Powertools
aredangerousinthehandsof untrainedusers.
e. Maintainpower tools.Check for misalignmentor
binding of moving parts, breakage of partsand any
other conditionthat may affect the powertools
operation. Ifdamaged, have the powertool repaired
before use. Manyaccidentsare causedbypoorly
maintainedpowertools.
