CLAMPLIGHT FAQ
How do I change batteries in my Blackfire® Clamplight? Use 3 AAA batteries.
Press the green tab found recessed inside the handle below the swivel head. It
is pushed down towards the feet and in and may be a little hard the first few
times you do it. The green battery cover comes off. Follow the polarity
instructions printed inside the battery compartment. To close first insert the tab
in at the bottom and then press the cover shut.
How do I get my Blackfire® Clamplight to stand? Squeeze the clamp open and
while in the open position slide the green switch/lock up till it clicks. It may be
easier for some people to use two hands to do this. Swivel the green feet on the
bottom out to give Blackfire® Clamplight a stable platform to stand on. To close
squeeze the clamp slightly more while at the same time sliding the switch/lock
down. Return the feet to the closed position.
What is a CREE LED? US based CREE is one of the worlds leading makers of LED’s with outstanding
quality, color, a performance. The LED found in the Blackfire® Clamplight is a CREE, depending on the
model, 1watt LED rated @ 65 or 100 lumen. LED’s are light emitting diodes – a semiconductor. Lumens
are a measure of how intensely a light glows.
Can I replace my LED? No. The CREE LED found in Clamplight is rated at a 100,000 hour life span and
therefore is not designed to be changed.
How long should the batteries last if I keep the light on? We estimate 26 hours on good quality
alkaline batteries with maximum output for 7 hours.
The light on my Clamplight seems to dim and go out all at once unlike flashlights I am used to? Like
better LED lights Clamplight uses a microchip that regulates output. This means you get a longer
period of time where the light is at a high brightness level. However this results in the light dimming
more rapidly when batteries are drained.
Is Clamplight water proof or water resistant? No.
I can’t fit my Clamplight to a thick door? Clamplight can open to accommodate 2x4’s.
When I clamp Clamplight on a chrome plated pipe or other slippery surface it slips? Make sure it is
centered on the feet. On very slippery surfaces it may slip a little –you can clamp it on angled down so
it braces the pipe against the body and then angle the swivel head to get light where you need it.
Is Clamplight heat resistant? No, we do not recommend using it near heat such as grills or welding
equipment. When using on a grill it should be only attached to non- heated portions such as side
tables and be well back from radiated heat.
My Clamplight is not working? Are you using new batteries? Check the direction you put the
batteries in –follow the illustration engraved in the battery compartment.
