1. SAFETY AND USER INFORMATION
Congratulations to the ownership of this high quality product.
A long life expectancy is assured if used in the described
manner and correct application. As with all technical
products, a hazard to health or equipment can exist if
improperly used, the unauthorized removal of necessary
covers, incorrect installation or incorrect operation is
present. Follow these instructions and adhere to the generally
accepted rules of technology. Installation and setting-up
should only be carried out by qualified service personnel ( IEC
364 / VDE 0105).
1.1 PACKAGING
Carefully check the equipment immediately after receipt, for
transport damage, deformation, and loose parts. Any damage
should be reported without delay to the transport carrier,
even then when no apparent damage to external package s
visible.
1.2 STORAGE
permitted storage
temperature: -25…+85 °C
permitted humidity: 30…80 % relative humidity
Residual condensation is not permitted during operation
1.3 INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
This equipment is to be protected against improper use.
Components are not to be bent or isolation spacing to be
changed, when transported or handled. The contact with
electrical components and terminals is to be avoided.
Always disconnect the equipment from the mains supply
before installation or wiring is started!
1.4 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING
Electrical equipment generally requires no special
maintenance, are however (depending on the protection index)
to be protected against dust build-up, moisture, radiation
and aggressive chemicals. Servicing is only permitted under
the terms and conditions of these operating instructions.
Nevertheless should a failure occur, please return the
equipment to us for repair giving the following information:
Type of fault, accompanying symptoms (operation conditions),
your own speculation as to the cause of the failure, previous
unusual conditions etc.
To maintain reliable operation of the laboratory power supply,
it is advisable after approximately 8000h operation or two
years, to inspect and service the built in variable transformer.
a) Check for free movement of the carbon brushes/
contact roller. It is important that there is adequate
contact pressure between the carbon brushes/roller and
the area of the winding/ contactor.
b) Jammed, worn or damaged brushes/rollers should be
exchanged immediately, otherwise damage or destruction
to the winding or contactor could result.
c) The contact area of the winding should then with a hard
brush, be cleaned of all dust and dirt particles. An abrasive
cleaning powder may be used, but after a successful
cleaning process, any residual powder must be thoroughly
removed.
d) The contactors should be checked for signs of wear and
accordingly exchanged.
e) With abnormal operating conditions1) according to
VDE 0552 G the duration between servicing is reduced to
approximately 1500 – 2000 operation hours.
1) Abnormal operation is when during a 24 hour
operation period no adjustment of the variable
transformer is made.
1.5 DISPOSAL
Please observe the current regulations and dispose according
to type of material i. e. as electronic scrap (printed circuit
boards), plastics (housing), steel, copper etc.
1.6 AMENDMENTS
We have produced this documentation with the utmost care,
however no guarantee for completeness or correctness can
be given. The adoption of this information in an application
must be individually checked. The technical details describe
the product features without guaranteeing these. This
product is subject to changes that serve the technical
advancement.
2. GENERAL
The Laboratory AC power supply type BR 1000 gives a
continuously adjustable output voltage between 0 and 250
volts ac. The output circuit is isolated from the mains supply.
The incorporated isolation transformer has a screen winding
which prevents mains interference being transferred to the
secondary. Through a circuit breaker, the input and output
circuits are safeguarded. The mains switch is illuminated.
The housing has two inset hand grips which makes it easy to
stack and is therefore room saving. The output socket is not
earthed. Due to the protection index (IP 20), the use of this
equipment is only permitted in dry areas.

5. Inbetriebnahme
Betriebsbereitschaft an.

5. SET UP
The laboratory AC power supply type BR 1000 due to its
relatively high weight of approx. 20 kg should be placed on a
sturdy level surface. Turn the main power switch (7) to the off
(0) position, the voltage adjustment knob (5) to its most anti
clockwise (left) position. The mains plug can now be inserted
in the mains supply voltage socket.
6. OPERATION
Turn the main power switch (7) to the “on” position in which
it illuminates, indicating readiness for operation. With the
voltage adjustment knob (5), the output voltage can be
adjusted to any voltage between 0 and 250V. The set output
voltage is indicated by the integrated volt meter (1). The load
can be connected to the output socket (6). The current drawn
by the load is indicated by the integrated ampere meter (2).
The instruments used are of the moving coil type (tol. 2,5%)
and show the true RMS value.
4. OVERVIEW DRAWING
7. OVERLOADING
The output circuit is protected by thermal overcurrent
circuit breaker (3). If the max. allowed current is exceeded,
then the circuit breaker will interrupts the output circuit.
After removal of the overload and cooling down of the circuit
breaker normal operation can be resumed, by pressing the
reset – knob (3) of the circuit breaker. The input circuit is
also protected by thermal overcurrent circuit breaker (4).
