Wheninstalling the 240 FX Water Heater on a placement stand, be sure to adjust the legs so
thatit stands straight and securely. (Adjustable legs can be moved up to 1" )

ascrew to attach thelongerpart of the wall mountbrackettemporarily to the heater anddeter-
minescrew positionsonthe wall.Thendrill a¼”hole in thewall.Insert anchor. Tightenall 4
screws.Minimum clearance behind the heateris1"
WARNING : Donothave the flue terminalpointingtoward any openingintoa building. Donot
locateyour heater in a pit or locationwheregasand water can accumulate.
WARNING : Do notinstalltheheater where water, debris,orflammable vapors may getintothe
flueterminal. This may causedamageto the heater.
WARNING :Inthe USA,donot install the heaterwiththe ventwithin4 feet ofanyopening intoa
building.In Canada donotinstall the heaterwiththe top ofthevent assembly within10feet any
openinginto a building.

Combustion Air Supply
Thewater heaterlocation must provideenough airfor propercombustion. See thelatest editionof ANSIStan-
dard Z223.1 and any your local codes that should be applicable.
DO NOT INSTALL DIRECTLY ONANY COMBUSTIBLE SURFACE
In general these requirements specify that if the unit is installed in a confined space, there must be a permanent
airsupply opening.

The area indicated is for one of two openings one at floor level and one at ceiling, so the total net free area would
bedouble the figuresindicated.
Outside air supply: when combustion air is supplied directly through an outside wall, such as intake louvers
openingsinto the dwelling.Each openingshould give aminimum free areaof onesquare inch per4000 BTUH
input of the total input rating of all appliances in the enclosed area.
Inside air supply, when combustion air is supplied from inside the building, each opening of the closet door
shouldhave aminimum free area of onesquare inchper 1000 BTUH input ofthe totalinput ratingof all appliance
inthe enclosedarea. Theseopenings shouldnever be less than 100 Sq. IN.
Venting Instructions.
Thiswater heatermust be vented in accordance with Venting ofcategory 3appliance, ofthe latestedition ofthe
NationalFuel GasCode.
WARNING : Improper venting ofthis appliance canresult inexcessivelevels ofCarbon Monoxide which can
resultin severepersonal injury ordeath.

VENTCONNECTIONS
The vent system must be gas tight. All seams and joints must be sealed withhi temp silicone sealant or metal
tape having a minimum temperature rating of 400º F. For best results, a horizontal vent system should be as
short and straight as possible with Single wall Galvanized steel or Stainless steel vent pipe.
The entire vent system must not exceed the size specified below.

FORSIDEWALL VENTING:When ahorizontal vent run exceeds 5 ft the following criteriamust beobserved ;
•Attach a vertical pipe at least 2" high to the water heater outlet before the horizontal run.
•Supportthevent runat3 ftintervals withoverheadhanger.
•Pitch up the vent run toward the vent terminal at a rate of 1/ 4" per foot.

Vent Termination
•A side wall vent terminal must be used when the water heater is vented through a side wall. Use part
No.FX HOOD. Thehood providesa means of installing ventpipe throughthe building walland mustbe
locatedin accordancewith ANSIZ223.1 and local applicable codes.
•Wall support brackets (needed if wall hanging) must be used. Use part No. 240bracket
