understanding all the parts
1. Stopper
Removable stopper allows you to safely add ingredients to the blender jug whilst it’s
operating. The stopper doubles as a handy measure. Dishwasher safe.
2. Blender jug ‘ring pull’ lid
The ring-pull handle ensures your blender jug lid is easily removed for pouring. Dishwasher
safe.
3. 1.5 litre blender jug
The large capacity toughened plastic blender jug, features an easy grip handle and is marked
in millilitres (ml). The transparent jug allows you to observe the consistency of the food
during blending. Dishwasher safe.
4. Stainless steel blades
The durable stainless steel blades handle even the toughest blending tasks.
5. Drive coupling
The drive coupling transfers drive from the motor unit to the blades in the blender jug

Professional specification 800 watt motor.
7. Control panel
Consists of 12 electronic touch buttons - 8 preset programs: SMOOTHIE, SHAKES, PUREE,
ICE CRUSH, CHOP, BLEND, DIPS and CAKE. All preset programs switch off automatically
when the cycle is complete. 4 manual buttons: +(fast), –(slow), STOP and PULSE.

Simply add your favourite ingredients to the blender, press the CAKE

2SMOOTHIE
Smoothies (fruit and
yoghurt or fruit and
milk based drinks).
Fruit or vegetable
drinks
Make drinks with a base of naturally soft or ripe fruits/vegetables
(strawberries, tomatoes, etc.) or foods that have been softened through
cooking. Don’t blend hard vegetables such as carrots unless cooked first.
Add liquid to achieve the desired smoothie consistency. Always remove
stones from fruit or vegetables.
3PUREE
Puree fruit,
vegetables. Make
your own baby food.
Smooth soups and
pates.
To puree food, liquid is an essential part. Some fruits are high in water
content therefore will need less or none added at all. Add stock, yogurt,
milk or water a little at a time through the pouring hole until the desired
consistency is reached.
4DIPS
Traditional/flavoured
mayonnaise
Hollandaise sauce,
salad cream dressings,
salsa, hummus,
guacamole
Add liquid ingredients first then follow with solid ingredients to ensure
consistent blending.When chopping fresh herbs, garlic, onion zest, spices,
etc. make sure that the blades and jug are completely dry.
5SHAKES
Milk based drinks.
Ice cream shakes, ice
cream coffee shakes,
frothy drinks for the
kids.
This function is intended for use with milk based drinks which have
other flavouring added to it. Try adding ice-creams, fruit puree, dessert
toppings or milk shake flavours. Don’t use this button to try and cruch ice
(use the Ice Crush button instead).
6ICE CRUSH
Ice slush drinks.
Crushed ice cubes for
all kinds of drinks.
For best results defrost ice cubes slightly before crushing. For home-
made (small) ice cubes, fill the jug up to 750ml mark and add 200ml
water. For shop-bought (large) ice cubes, add 15 ice cubes to the jug and
add 200ml water.
7CHOP
Coffee beans, nuts,
biscuits, etc.
Add approx 100g (4oz) at a time to ensure an even texture. Make sure
any hard shells have been removed before grinding.
8BLEND
Thicken creams,
blend fruit juices.

9PULSE
Chopping nuts, herbs,
bread crumbs, biscuit
crumbs etc.
The Pulse button allows precise control of the duration and speed of
blending. Press and hold the Pulse button to start processing, and release

Fast and slow buttons These buttons allow you to manually adjust the blending speed. Simply
press the + or – button repeatedly while the blender is running to
change the speed.
11 STOP
Stop button Press at any time to stop your blender.

The programmed buttons take the guesswork out of blending. All you need to do to get great chef
results is press a button!
important
Your blender has 8 preset programs. Depending on the selected program your blender may
operate at different speeds, or stop and start during use. This is completely normal and is not
indicative of a fault.

Remove all packaging and wash the jug, blade assembly and lid in hot soapy water.
The motor base can be cleaned by wiping it with a damp cloth. Never immerse the motor base,
plug or cord in water or any other liquid.

Place the motor base on a flat, dry and level surface.
With the control panel facing you, place the jug on the base. The handle can be positioned to
the left or the right of the control panel.
Fit the lid onto the jug.
Fit the stopper into the hole in the lid.

using your blender
1. Remove the lid from the jug and add the ingredients. Alternatively remove the stopper from
the lid and pour or feed the ingredients through the hole in the lid.
2. Replace the lid and/or the stopper.
3. Plug your blender into a suitable supply socket and select the desired blender program by
pressing the button on the control panel.
Depending on the selected program your blender may operate at different speeds, or stop
and start during use. This is completely normal and is not indicative of a fault.
You can add more ingredients while your blender is running by removing the stopper and
inserting or pouring them through the hole in the blender lid.
Never try to remove the blender lid while your blender is operating.
Overloading the blender jug with more than 1.5 litres could cause the motor to stall. Should
the motor stall, turn your blender off, unplug it from the socket and remove a portion of the
mixture before continuing.
Never place your fingers or hands into your blending jug when it is in operation or
when your blender is plugged it.
4. When you have made your recipe, switch your blender off, unplug it and remove the jug from
the base. Pour or remove the contents of the jug using a plastic or rubber spatula.
preset programs
Press the button once to select the preset.
The program will start. Wait until your blender does the rest (unless the recipe indicates
adding more ingredients during blending).
Your blender will stop automatically. Alternatively press the Stop button to finish cycle.
manual programs
+(fast) and –(slow): These buttons allow you to manually adjust the blending speed in 8
steps. Simply press the fast or slow button repeatedly while your blender is running to change
the speed.
Pulse: The pulse button allows precise control of the duration and speed of blending. Press
and hold the pulse button to start processing, and release it to stop.
Stop: Press at any time to stop blending wether in manual mode or using a preset program.
When using the + and – manual buttons to process food, don’t allow your blender
to operate continuously for more than 1 minute without allowing it to rest for a
short time.

hints and tips
Use the removable stopper when you need to measure small quantities.
For best results when crushing ice, add water to the blender (see page 8). Adding water will
prolong the life of your blades and prevent the jug from scratching with excess use. Ice is
completely crushed when it has a snow flake texture.
Do not process hot liquids in your blender, you must allow the liquid to cool.
When blending warm ingredients always ventilate the blender jug to allow the air to escape.
Remove the stopper. Take care of splashing liquids.
Never fill the blender jug above the 1.5 litre mark, as the food rises when being blended.
Use a plastic or rubber spatula to gently scrape food down the sides of the blender jug when
needed. Always switch the blender off, unplug it and remove the jug from the base before
doing so.
It helps to put liquid ingredients into the blender before the solids unless otherwise stated in
the recipes.
Your blender is not designed to grind meat or extract juice from fruit or vegetables.
Do not use the jug to store food, always transfer the mixture to a suitable storage container.
For easier cleaning, always follow the cleaning instructions on page 16 as soon as you have
finished using your blender.
Make baby food by adding a small amount of liquid to a cup of fruit or vegetables and blending
it on the Puree setting. Four or five seconds on this setting also will smooth out lumpy gravy.
Use the Pulse button to make bread crumbs, grate chocolate, chop vegetables and make
bases for cheescakes.
If the motor seems to be struggling at a low speed, add a little liquid and increase to the next
higher speed to finish processing.
Always turn off your blender and allow the blade to completely stop before removing the lid
and the jug .

Please read these instructions before operating this appliance and retain for future use.
This product is not suitable for use by children, and may not be suitable for persons requiring
supervision unless they receive instruction by a competent person on how to safely use the
product.
Always ensure hands are dry before handling
the plug, or switching on the appliance.
Always use the blender on a secure, dry, level
surface.
Always store excess portion of the power
cord in the storage compartment of the base
unit.
Always switch the unit off, unplug and wipe
immediately should any moisture or liquid
appear on top of the motor base.
Always switch off and unplug when not in use
and before cleaning and storing.
Always carry out regular checks of the supply
cord to ensure no damage is evident. Should
there be any signs that the cord is damaged
in the slightest degree, the entire appliance
should be returned to the Customer Service
Department.
Always return the appliance after a
malfunction, or if it has been damaged in any
manner to the Customer Service Department
for examination, repair or adjustment as
special purpose tools are required.
Always take care when handling the blade
assembly as they are extremely sharp and may
cause injury.
Never use this appliance outdoors.
Never use this appliance for any other
purpose than that which it is designed for. This
appliance is for household use only.
Never immerse the motor base, cordset and
plug in water or any other liquid to protect
against electrical hazards.
Never place your hands or utensils in the
blender when it is operating. Always switch it
off and unplug it first.
Never use harsh, abrasive or caustic cleaners
to clean this appliance.
Never allow children to use this appliance.
Close supervision is necessary when the
appliance is near children.
Never leave appliance unattended when in
use.
Never let cord hang over the edge of a table
or counter, touch hot surfaces or become
knotted.
Never place this appliance on or near a hot
gas or electric burner or where it could touch
a heated oven or microwave oven.
Never use this appliance with a damaged cord
or plug, after an appliance malfunction or if it
has been damaged in any manner.
Never attach the blade assembly on the
motor base without the jug attached.
Never switch the motor on when the blender
jug is empty as this could damage your
blender.

care and cleaning
Always unplug your Intelligent Blender before cleaning it.
Your blender’s blades are very sharp! Take care when cleaning your blender.
Never immerse the motor base unit, mains lead or plug in water or any other liquid.
Never use harsh abrasive cleaners or cleaning materials.
Remove the lid of your blender and fill the jug about one third full with lukewarm water. Add
one drop of washing up liquid.
Replace the blending jug lid and stopper.
Press the Pulse button 2 or 3 times.
Empty the jug and rinse it under running water. More stubborn food depsits can be removed
using a nylon washing up brush.
Thoroughly dry the jug, lid and stopper before storing. Always ensure that the base of the jug
is dry before using it again.
Wipe the motor base over with a soft damp cloth then dry it using a clean absorbent, dry
cloth.
The blades can be removed from the bottom of the blending jug by using the removable
stopper as a tool to loosen them. This will not normally be required as the cleaning method
described above should be adequate. If you do decide to remove the blades you must
ensure that they are refitted correctly and fully tightened to prevent leakage.

500g (18oz) pork sausages
250ml (9fl oz) milk
55g (2oz) unsalted butter
75g (3oz) plain flour
salt and ground black pepper
1 onion, roughly chopped
1 tbsp good quality olive oil
1 tsp finely chopped fresh sage
1 tbsp grain mustard
4 eggs, separated
serves 4
1. Preheat the oven to 220°C/400°F/gas
mark 6. Grill the sausages for 1 minute
on each side until lightly browned. Cut
them in half lengthways.
2. Butter a 23cm (9”) souffle dish.
3. In a saucepan, heat the olive oil, garlic
and onion. Cook on a medium heat
until the onion is brown. Stir in the sage
and mustard.
4. Heat the milk in a non-stick saucepan
with the butter until it has reached
boiling point and the butter has melted.
Remove from the heat and allow to
cool for 5 minutes.
5. Put the warm milk into your blender
add the egg yolks and press the Pulse
button for a few seconds to combine.
Add the flour and press the Pulse
button for a few seconds to combine.
The mixture should be smooth and
thick. Season with salt and pepper.
6. Using a whisk, beat the egg whites to
soft peaks. Empty the batter from your
blender into a bowl. Use a plastic or
rubber spatula if necessary to get all of
the batter from the blender jug. Stir the
onion mixture into the batter. Carefully
fold the beaten egg whites into the
batter with a wooden spoon.

7. Cover the base of the souffle dish with
half of the batter mixture. Arrange the
sasuages on top, then cover with the
remaining batter and smooth over with
a palette knife or similar.
8. Bake near the top of the oven for about
25 minutes or until golden, crisp and
well risen.
A twist on toad in the hole. I discovered
this recipe in a 1960’s newspaper. Use

1 small bunch coriander
5 slices fresh root ginger, peeled
1 head garlic, halved horizontally
2 hot dried chillies
1 onion, roughly chopped
1 x 1.6kg (3½lb) free-range chicken
1 tsp salt
Salad
125g (4½oz) broccoli florets
85g (3oz) fresh or frozen peas
125g (4½oz) asparagus tips
85g (3oz) sugar-snap peas
2 Little Gem lettuces
2 handfuls baby spinach leaves
2 handfuls rocket leaves
1 bunch spring onions, tops removed and
thinly sliced.
Peanut soy dressing
3 tbsp smooth peanut butter
4 tbsp sweet soy sauce
2 tbsp runny honey
1 level tbsp garlic puree
2 tsp chilli oil
4 tbsp rice vinegar
6 tbsp water
serves 6
1. Place the coriander, ginger, garlic,
chillies, onion and chicken in a pan
just large enough to hug the chicken.
Top up with cold water to cover the
chicken, add the salt and cover with
a lid. Bring to the boil, then reduce
the heat until the water is just moving
on the surface. Simmer gently for
30 minutes, then turn off the heat
and allow the chicken to cool in its
poaching liquour - ideally overnight in
the refrigerator. Check it is cooked
through.
2. Meanwhile, make the salad. Have
ready a large pan of boiling salted
water. Blanch the broccoli florets for 3
minutes, then drain and refresh in cold
water. Do the same with the peas and
asparagus tips, but for 2 minutes only.
Blanch the sugar-snaps for 1 minute
only, then drain and refresh in cold
water.
3. To make the dressing, add the peanut
butter, soy sauce, honey, garlic, chilli
oil, vinegar and water to your blender
jug and press the Dips button. The
program will stop automatically when it
has finished.
4. Remove the chicken from the pan and
take off the meat, discarding the skin.
Either cut the meat into chunks or
finely shred. Coat the meat lightly with
some of the dressing. Set aside. Retain
the stock as a base for an excellent
soup.
